As Marie Antoinette said - and indeed any sane person would say - "Let them eat cake."
Some sort of an introduction would not be out of order, and while I would move the step-by-step techniques stuff from the back of the book to the front matter, the book is a good mix of things I'd be happy to bake and eat, things I've heard mentioned on BBC shows or in cozy, locked-room British mysteries, and some choice quotes. I'd definitely have to agree with the sentiment attributed to Julia Child that "A party without cake is just a meeting."
The most adorable little cake cookbook. I'm having fun with these. I'm still scared of frosting, and in most cases have adapted them into cupcakes, but I really like this little book. The only problem is I don't want to crack the still-almost-new binding, so I'm copying over a recipe before trying to use it. But that has nothing to do with the book itself.
