This was a much more interesting book than I thought it might be. I am so obsessed with this book. I had heard of Amit Ray's brilliance as a meditation master and I had picked up, but not read his other books, and then this one happened. This is one of the books that helped me understand Ray's genius, as well as the value of meditation. Ray covers everything of meditation from deep wisdom to the strategies needed to practice them, as well as diving in to the finer aspects of meditation such as positive thinking, letting go, value of silence and our connections to everyday life. I guess I'll have to read Amit Ray's other books. If you are interested in meditation, you will enjoy this book.

Ray's talks on meditation are spare and direct. The book explains meditation in many ways. It discusses both simple informal meditations on beauty etc as well as formal meditation techniques on concentration and mindfulness. It talks about the techniques for cleaning out the mind through meditation. Though we all choose different paths according to our culture and traditions, the ultimate desire is the same: happiness of the soul, freedom from the sufferings. Whether you meditate or not, Ray provides useful and illuminating truths on meditation for anyone interested in becoming more happy. Here is one of my favorite passages: "When you touch the celestial in your heart, you will realize that the beauty of your soul is so pure, so vast and so devastating that you have no option but to merge with it. You have no option but to feel the rhythm of the universe in the rhythm of your heart." The book enhances my understanding on meditation. He writes "Meditation is a verb as well as a noun. In the beginning, when we follow meditation steps, it is a verb. However, when meditation is complete ego-less absorption in pure consciousness, it is a noun, a state without steps." This book is an excellent guide to shutting of your brain noise. I really liked this book. It has enough information to open your eyes, but not too much to scare you away.

Meditation - insights and inspirations explores the depth of meditation in several ways. It is one of the best inspirational books on meditation. This is a warm, inspiring and, above all, practical book. This is a wonderful eye-opening book. The author makes the concept of meditation easy to understand.

The author is writing from the broader perspective of meditation but what is unique about this book is that it primarily used meditation for transforming the life. I feel the book is a great success.

Its a great read. I really enjoyed the book. I love this book. I highly recommend this book to anybody interested in meditation and happiness in life.

This is the definitive text on meditation. This is the book you want if you are serious about beginning your meditation practice. Ray is an inspiring teacher who has written an inspiring book. A must for meditation teachers and students alike. The first half of the book was illuminating and offered some practical wisdom that Is valuable regardless of religious background. The second half offered many valuable meditation practices. There are many insights in the book. If you take in one of these insights each day, you will nourish your soul. Both the complete novice and the seasoned meditators will benefit from this book.

I want to read this book for a long time, and I am amazed that as I completed this book I wondered that had I read it sooner it would not have been as impacting. Everything needs perfect timing and i feel now is perfect moment for me to read this book.

I found myself reading and re-reading paragraphs over and over. Amit Ray has an amazing grace and an extraordinary ability to reach to the heart of meditation. My favorite sections are meditation the bigger picture and meditation the inner call.

I do highly recommend this book for those honestly want to learn the art of meditation. In fact, I plan to get a hard copy as it seems to be one of those books I would turn to time and time again for a perspective check and maybe even a new insight should I mature in my walk.

Probably one of the most practical, nuts-and-bolts guides to meditation practice I've read. I especially like Ray's focus on "witnessing meditation," which has nothing to do with being lazy or indolent, but the ability to "simply let things be and allowing them to unfold in their own way. A solid book for those interested in learning more about depth of meditation. I have no experience with anything related to deep meditation aside lot of hearing my mom about Buddha, but this book broke down my preconceptions and replaced them with tangible ways to improve my mindset.

A fascinating exploration into the world of meditation. I learned quite a lot and it was not too jumbled for a non-meditator like me to read. I love Ray's approach, and views. The book covers both the concepts and the practices for deep meditations. I loved the integrated view of yoga, exercises, concentration and deep meditation. Its easily the best book I have read on meditation. I am moved by the insightful ideas and thoughts presented in the book.

Read at the right time, especially when on a meditation path, I think this could be one of those life changing or at least very pivotal books to read. It's very simply set out and easy to comprehend which is great for those who are interested to discover meditation in depth. I have several meditation books in my collection, but I have never read a book that gave me such a profound and clear understanding.

There are some really good quotes and virtues I got from this. I plan to read this again at some point because I know there is more to get out of it. All in all, it was good but not amazing or great.

I did not like this book at all. Too much about *how* to meditate (like a guide, with step by step instructions), and way too little science on *why* to meditate, i.e. the benefits of it. Felt like I read a blog post more than a book.
