Living on 'England's Green & Pleasant Land', amongst the gentle rolling hills of the Herefordshire Countryside, Rose's house is wall to wall books. She even has a 'leaning tower of paperbacks'.

Rose is a dreamer, preferring a simple & quiet life. Often spending time lone, although never lonely, being ever surrounded by great characters when lost in a good book. She loves theatre and the arts, adoring live performances on stage. Rose has very eclectic tastes.

Working as a school librarian, and sharing her love of books with the children was the best job she ever had. However, life moves on and another chapter was only a page turn away.

Now working in an entirely different library, in Hereford's Wye Valley NHS Trust Hospital, Rose spends her day cleaning and issuing 'Medical Equipment'.

Most days she can be found walking around, with her head in a book or eyes glued to a kindle. (In all the years she has been partaking of this pastime, there has only ever been one accident, when she walked into a street lamp, but then she had been momentarily blinded by the sun. Not that there is a lot of sun in the UK).

Writing for Rose has only ever really been a hobby, something she has done for many years but on reaching the half century she received a book ‘Things to do now you are fifty’ and on that list was ‘write a book’.

Winning second prize in a Daily Bookworm competition for the short story ‘One Breath’, then being encourage by online Facebook friends to enter a holiday DigiWriting contest and winning FIRST PRIZE with ‘The Magic of Grandfather Christmas’ Rose was inspired to turn one of the stories, if not both into full length novels.

Rose also has a little friend, a red golden King Charles Spaniel (Ghost of Christmas Past from the Young Ebenezer series) named Miss Ruby Heart. Ruby loves children's books and can be found on social media as @MissRubyHeart1

One final little secret for you, she has a very serious addiction;
Rose English is a Read-a-holic.

Happy Reading:-)

This is a hauntingly beautiful short story. I don't want to give anything away, but if you enjoy an old-fashioned love story with a twist, pick this up. The author is very good with detailed description, and has no trouble invoking an emotional response from her reader. I'm looking forward to more work from her in the future.

One Breath by Rose English

Gorgeous, clear imagery. The botanical attached to the sensory memory was a lovely addition. A love so pure, it resonates throughout the entire piece. I was at once immersed in this fantastic short story full of tangible memory, love and devotion. Fluid writing with a classical romantic eloquence.

The inclusion at the end of the symbolic use of the rose was wonderful! I hoped the ancient beliefs would be included and to my delight they were! If you are a hopeless romantic, which I am... You must read this. Looking forward to reading more of this author's work.

I received a free kindle copy of One Breath by Rose English from the author in exchange for a fair review.

I gave this beautifully written short story five stars. It made me weep, but in a good way. The sensitivity with which this story was written made me recall events in my own experience & made a difference in the way I perceived them.

This was a heart touching love story & I highly recommend it.

One Breath is a charming short story with a big heart.
Despite the shortness of the story I was instantly hooked by the characters, eager to know what was happening and the anticipation of what was going to happen.
One Breath is beautifully written and you can feel the emotion poured into the characters which is a true testament to the author.
I can't wait to see what Rose English will come up with next.

A quick read that hit very close to home. My wife and I understand the tender sadness of One Breath all too well. A nice tribute to love, loss, and the hope of better things to come.

Beautifully written and heartwarming

This book was beautifully written and I enjoyed reading it. I love learning something new, and there is a lot of information about roses and their mythology and meanings. I recommend this book if you want to learn something new about roses and enjoy a very sweet story.

My reading of this story was timely as our daughter's friends have just suffered a still birth; a poignant story wrapped up in the beauty of the rose. The additional tales and snippets about roses throughout history and legend make this a perfect package for gardeners and romantics.
