Para conocer mejor los orígenes de Chico Bestia.
Esta segunda entrega de las novelas gráficas de los Teen Titans no continúa con la historia de la primera entrega, la deRaven.En este caso tenemos la introducción a la historia de Chico Bestia: cómo adquiere sus poderes y sus primeros días descubriendo cómo utilizarlos,además de la construcción del personaje para entenderlo mejor.
Teen Titans: Chico Bestiatiene buen ritmo, perono termina de cuajar.Siento que es porque no tiene una trama envuelta en misterio como lo es la de Raven, sino quetira más por el humor y la transformación física y mental de Gar y cómo le afecta respecto a la popularidad en el instituto.¿Es entretenido? Sí, pero se exploran los poderes menos de lo que me hubiera gustado, y aunque el ritmo como digo está entretenido, el final es abrupto.
El dibujo de Picolo en este caso no sorprende tanto, pero sí que es cierto que el uso de los colores verdes me ha parecido todo un acierto. En síGabriel es buenísimo en lo suyo:las expresiones las clava y en este caso aparecen más personajes que en Raven, y cada uno está super bien definido físicamente. O sea, queel diseño de personajes de Picolo me encanta.Love it.
Me he reído, me he emocionado y me lo he pasado bien, aunqueno he terminado de conectar al cien por cien con la historia.Entiendo que el tono que ha elegido Kami Garcia sea más humorístico, porque Chico Bestia es satírico y en una constante búsqueda de nuevos chistes que hacer, perosiento que se aleja quizá demasiado del tema que nos atañe que son los poderes.Siento que en este caso son más una subtrama que la trama principal. ¿Está mal? No, solo que igual hubiera necesitado un poquito más de historia en ese sentido.
En definitiva:he disfrutado de esta novela gráfica, me ha gustado, pero no es la gran cosa.¿La recordaré en unos meses? Puede ser, pero no me ha terminado de convencer al cien por cien.Estoy deseando leer la tercera entrega, donde finalmente Chico Bestia y Raven se junten en una aventura.

This was good and yet not good at the same time. Of course the art was beautiful and the storyline was packed, much more than other DC graphic novels have been. But still there was something about this that I didn't like and I lay the blame on Gar himself.
Gar is a problematic protagonist. He's a nice guy, good-looking. Sure he's short and not muscular and doesn't have any facial hair but that doesn't make him any less of a person. Yet, for some reason he's obsessed with it; he's so obnoxiously vain it kinda destroys him as a character and I found it very hard to feel anything but uncomfortableness towards him because of this.
I said it and I stand by it. Gar is vain and popularity-obsessed. He cares so much about fame that it's sad. The thing is it's not like he doesn't have friends! He has 2 great friends that he blows off for the popular people. And it's not like he's deluded too! He's self-aware enough to say he knows it's dumb to change himself just to be in with the popular crowd and just to get the pretty popular girl to like him but he says that he's been trying for so long that that sort of justifies all his ridiculous actions throughout the book. Of course, his amazing kind friends say they don't judge him for that, but I judge you Gar!
The saddest thing about all of that is that this is actually not really a weakness of the graphic novel. It's a very accurate take on Gar's character. From what I've seen of Gar in movies and shows and other comics is that he is a vain, fame-obsessed character and that's just his personality. So I guess this graphic novel depicts Gar well, just not in any way that I fully appreciated it.
I'm much more interested to see what happens next for Gar as he meets Raven and hopefully faces off against Slade inTeen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven...

Gar to Teen Titans is like Bart to Young Justice. And if you understand what I mean when I say that then you, my good friend, should hit me up with a friend request because I need you in my life.
I had no idea this existed and now that I do I am screaming internally very loudly and impatiently waiting to own a physical copy so I can devour it. Did I say devour? I meant read. Silly me.

No one spoils Beast Boy. You can ruin Raven, fine. Teen Titans Go! already did that but anywhere you look Beast Boy’s awesomeness is preserved.
Animation: YOUNG JUSTICE (the best DC anything that there could ever be), Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, Teen Titans, Justice League vs. Teen Titans, yes even Teen Titans Go! Beast Boy was great.
Live action Beast Boy on the show Titans was awesome. I know, I know, he wasn’t green but it’s fine! He was still cool. He’s not green on this cover either.
And, of course, Beast Boy in the comics is superb. Whether you look at Teen Titans pre-New 52, New 52, or Rebirth, Beast Boy is always awesome.

I got to say a very pleasant surprise. Beast Boy is not my favourite Teen Titan, I usually prefer the darker characters, but for me, he has been an integral part of the team to balance out the darker characters. I read the introduction, and it shos definitely shows how much Gabriel Picolo likes Beast Boy.
The story suited Gar perfectly. This is not an action-packed superhero book. This is a story of Gar coming to terms with his life, dealing with normal things everyone does growing up. Discovering his powers is secondary. Great side characters as well. I have to say well done with Tank's story, as someone who had exactly the same thing during their school life, I am glad more awareness is being speard. I am sure many young people in school (who are the same age of the characters here) have to deal with this.
I am really looking forward to the next book. I did not realise how much of this I read in a single sitting. It was such a page turner. Nothing explosive, just a very good story.

I was so excited for this title for two main reasons: I am a big fan of teen titans. I remember wanting to go home after school just to watch the daily episode of the show. Raven was my favorite character and that is the second reason I am reading this. I enjoyed the first book in this series which was about Raven.
So this is Beast Boy's origin story and I was expecting something a bit different, not an origin story. But after finishing this I realized I never knew Gar's origins so it was something new at the end of the day! And the story has great messages for younger readers (maybe even older ones) that I really liked.
I don't know how much canon it can be considered but I guess it is pretty much canon since it legally follows DC! I really really like Picolo's art style, it is just so clean, so clear and colorful! I have read a few comics lately and I did not like the art in the majority of them. This just shows the huge amount of time that was put into creating this! Also the dialogues were easy to read and follow. I finished the whole 188 pages in approximately an hour. Personally, I think most of the credit goes to the artist here although I appreciate the author's efforts.

Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo's followup toTeen Titans: Ravenwas pretty solid. In fact, I enjoyed it more than Raven. It's pretty standard YA affair for the most part. Gar is small in stature and wants to be popular so starts doing web stunts. Eventually, his Beast Boy nature starts to creep in. It looks like we will need to wait until the next volume though to get much world building.
I like Picolo's art and muted color palette. I do take issue though with his lack of backgrounds though. A lot of pages consist of teenagers talking to each other in an empty void.

I've probably said too many times in previous reviews these young adult graphic novel paperbacks (formerly known as the 'DC Ink' series, featuring teenage versions of established heroes and villains) have been some hit-or-miss affairs. Well, they got it right this time, in regards to the proper tone and interesting narrative, withBeast Boy.It's an origin story of sorts, with explanation on how the title character develops his superpowers (which will lead to his inclusion in the celebrated Teen Titans), but what was more notable was that this seemed like a solid YA book. He experiences some typical family / friend / high school issues, makes mistakes and learns a life lesson or two, and has a few confidants that stick by him. It could've been dreary or condescending, but it was a pleasantly upbeat story - though more dramatic than action-packed - which sets things in motion for a sequel.

I received a copy of this book for free from the publisher (DC Comics) in exchange for an honest review.
I’m not super familiar with the Teen Titans so going in I knew very little about Beast Boy. Because of this, I didn’t have any particular expectations going into it. I ended up enjoying learning the origin story of Beast Boy.
As a whole, the plot is fairly basic. There really isn’t anything super exciting going on since this is just the first part of his story. It basically him navigating high school while also discovering who he is and his powers. I am very intrigued to see how the rest unfolds. The book did a good job setting up things to come.
The artwork was amazing. It worked really well with the overall vibe of the book and I liked how shades of green were featured and incorporated.
Overall, this was a great start to Beast Boy’s story and I look forward to reading more of his adventures (especially with Raven)!

One of the 2020 Goodreads nominated graphic novels, the second in a series that began with Raven, which I also rated three stars. This is pretty standard fare YA, and I suppose a must for Teen Titan fans, as it was among the top vote-getters. About Gar, who is focused (wrongly) on becoming popular, okay. Not a fan of the sort of faded art with no backgrounds. We don't know much of the world of the Titans here, lots of loose ends for future volumes. Some of the dialogue fits the wise-cracking Gar is pretty amusing. I guess, but he's not my favorite character. I'll rate it 2.5, yet acknowledging the popularity of the series.

I honestly don't know why I decided to read this... Actually that's a lie. I do.
Firstly, and possibly most importantly, MC who's name I don't remember is cute (I think his name is Garfield but I'm too lazy to fact check that).
Secondly, I was kind of curious. I saw this whole series when I was looking through future titles on Goodreads and I thought "huh, that looks interesting" and then completely forgot about it until I saw it on Hoopla a few days ago.
I think this is kind of an origin story which is good for me because I know absolutely nothing about any of these characters. It was interesting as far as stories go. I absolutely loved the art. It was absolutely gorgeous.
Overall, this book was interesting, extremely well illustrated and I will promptly forget about it as soon as I finish writing this review.

Absolutely enjoyable! As a die hard team titans fan, I love how the story is building to the team coming together with H.I.V.E.
I think it’s interesting that in both books so far (Raven & Beast Boy) focuses a lot on their insecurities. So I’m hoping the next one does something a little different.
Also, as a diabetic person I also feel weird when books bring it up as the worst thing ever... so I could’ve done with those two jokes or statements.
LOVE THE ART STYLE

And I wish the storyline about wanting popularity could have had a stronger ending to really relate to why popularity isn’t ever but overall it was very enjoyable!!

I grew up watching Teen Titans and I was so excited to find out about this collection of graphic novels coming out. I read Teen Titans: Raven and absolutely loved it! I also adore origin stories and this one was definitely a favorite. The story was really fun to read. I loved getting to know Beast Boy more. The art was amazing as usual. Also a really quick read that keeps you looking forward to the next one. There's going to be a Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven graphic novel coming and I can't wait!

I grew up watching Teen Titans and I was so excited to find out about this collection of graphic novels coming out. I read Teen Titans: Raven and absolutely loved it! I also adore origin stories and this one was definitely a favorite. The story was really fun to read. I loved getting to know Beast Boy more. The art was amazing as usual. Also a really quick read that keeps you looking forward to the next one. There's going to be a Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven graphic novel coming and I can't wait!

This was really cute! I loveeee Teen Titans and I had so much fun reading Beast Boy's origin story. My only complaint would be that I wish these comics were longer. I feel like they end right when the action is about to really take off and I don't know if/when we will learn what happens to Beast Boy (and I'm still waiting to find out what happened to Raven from her comic).
But I love the art (Gabriel Picolo is the best and I love his art style) and I was never bored once while reading this so that definitely counts for something! Can't wait to own the physical copy of this book to add to my collection!

This was really cute! I loveeee Teen Titans and I had so much fun reading Beast Boy's origin story. My only complaint would be that I wish these comics were longer. I really liked this one, too! The art style is really beautiful and the story itself is entertaining.
If I had to rate the two that are out so far in this series:
1. Raven: 4.5 stars.
2. Beast Boy: 4 stars.
I have a thing for found family/sister relationships, so I think that’s why I enjoyedRavena little more.
I am really sad that I have to wait another year for the next installment. 😭
Can fall 2021 hurry up, please!

I've been following Picolo for FOREVER (pre-Icarus and the Sun days, people) and was not disappointed with Kami's work in Raven in the slightest! I can't wait to read about my (comic) book boyfriend BB. It's SOO early but please, DC, sign a deal for Starfire.

This was a nice sequel to the first installment, and while I didn't enjoy it as much, I still quite liked the story of a boy with an odd condition and a penchant for green hair dye.

With no foundational knowledge on anything DC or Teen Titans, I’m finding that I love these graphic novels!! It’s so light and funny and low maintenance.
Gabriel’s art style is perfect in relaying that ‘teen’ energy (whatever that means 😭😭)
I just want Daniel Tanaka and I want him bad 😩😩😩😩

The first book in this series,Teen Titans: Raven,was borderline okay, but this one is a dull mess. I've never been a fan of Beast Boy since I first became aware of him during the 1980s when he was the pathetic comic relief in Marv Wolfman'sTeen Titans.This update does nothing to make him less annoying or more interesting as he whines about being a scrawny loser and chases internet popularity.
The writing is uninspired, and since it is to be continued, a ton of plot lines are left unresolved. Very unsatisfying. I'm hopeful things will improve in the third book when Raven reappears, but the sneak preview included here is not promising.

I loved reading this book! The graphics were amazing, and the storyline was fun and fast paced. I was able to read this book in under an hour and it held my full attention the entire time. Gar is trying to fit in and be popular at school. This book is about coming-of-age, acceptance and belonging. The teaser for the next book was exciting and I can’t wait for Raven to meet and get to know Gar better.

It was cute. I like Raven's story better but I'm so looking forward to the next one with both of them in it. The first one was more about Raven and her coming into and learning her powers. This one spent about two-thirds of the book on angsty teen stuff.

Garfield Logan is determined to change his life. As of Spring Break, his Senior Year Bucket List remains dismayingly incomplete. He's hoping to make some life changes and turn that around, but some strange physical changes were definitely not part of the plan…
One thing that struck me about this book–and about its predecessor, Raven–was how much the characters seemed like real teenagers (the ones who are *supposed* to be teenagers, wiseass! Sheesh. Some people…) In the comics I grew up with, the “teenage” superheroes acted more like grownups than myself and my friends did (with the possible exception of the early issues of Spider-Man.) The Teen Titans, the Legion, the X-Men… even the youngest members of each team rarely went to classes, seemingly lived alone, never had trouble finding transportation to wherever they needed to go, and certainly never had to get permission to travel to another city or country or galaxy or wherever.
Honestly, even in Archie, the kids acted more like young adults than teenagers.
So the characters and setting feel real, or at least they've got me believing it. That's a good thing.
As with Raven, this is a Titans reboot featuring everyone's favorite green shapeshifter. I'm honestly impressed that they kept as much of his origin intact as they did, as his beginnings were always rooted in some of the more implausible elements of DC's 60's titles. Had he been created even five years earlier, his origin probably would have been caused by exposure to Ecru Kryptonite or something. Anyway, Garcia makes it work by keeping it all in flashback and alluding only to the barest details. It's a smart strategy.
I really like what Garcia and Picolo have done with these characters. It's a fresh take with some really interesting twists, and I'm looking forward eagerly to the next volume. Recommended!

Got to say that I liked this more than I thought I would. In my opinion, this was better than the first book that focused on Raven. Don’t get me wrong, I love Raven, but this book had me interested in more people like Beast Boy’s friends and how their lives crossed with each other. The dynamics between them seemed more diverse to me. I’d actually read a book about how they became a thriving trio, or how Beast Boy’s parents met and came to work for H.I.V.E doing research then leave. It’s a neat take on Beast Boy’s origin story and nice seeing him as a typical teenager just trying to live as good a life as he can as a high schooler. Definitely an interested in reading the continuation where Raven and Beast Boy meet up in Nashville.

I really loved this! Garfield’s new design is so sick! It totally fits with his character, I love my vegetarian boy.
The art style is just as amazing as it was in Raven’s comic but this time the story has more substance, the passing is way better too and the characters had a lot of charm to them. I think this change for the better had to do with the fact that Beast Boy is Gabriel Picolo’s favorite character and he probably managed to include some of his own ideas. The characters actually acted like teenagers and their interactions felt real, I believed in their friendship and got invested with all of their struggles. It definitely feels reminiscent of Picolo’s casual titans art series, in which he drew them in modern clothes while doing normal teen stuff.
Also, I deeply related to Gar as a character and his struggles are something we all go through. In this comic he’s trying to find his place in the world, grasping with his identity while wanting to be seen by others. As it’s the case for many of us, not being specially good in anything can make you feel like you don’t belong. The way Gar cooped with his insecurity and being made fun of by making jokes and mocking himself first made me relate to him even more than I already did.
“You’re talking about my best friend. And there’s nothing wrong with him. He just doesn’t know it yet.”
He needs to learn how to love himself and appreciate the ones around him that don’t mind how much he changes, because they love him just as he is and will always support him, no matter what. Beast boy’s characterization felt very honest and I can see it came from a place of love for the character.
I adored Tank and Stella as his besties too!! And Tank being diagnosed with dyslexia was a nice touch, he was the sweetest and I always appreciate representation.
“Don’t worry. I can handle this. There’s a lot more to me than pulling pranks and cracking jokes.”
“We already knew that.”
This was a very fun read! I’ll be definitely checking out “Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven” as soon as it comes out, I love them as a couple.♡

This comic was everything I wanted it to be and even more! I grew up with the Teen Titans and although Robin (all four of them) will always be my favorite, Beast Boy is a very close second. I absolutely devoured this new comic.
The plot and the illustration are stunningly gorgeous. I truly loved everything about it, from Gar to his friends and holy cow I cannot wait for the next installment in this series!

Other people will never accept you if you don’t accept yourself.
There was so much heart in this comic. All the teenage troubles of fitting in and being noticed were there. But there was also Stella and Daniel “The Tank” Tanaka who everyone just calls Tank. It was cute and his friend were the best! I mean “group hug,” was used and honestly it made me smile so big. I love how friendship is shown in this comic.
However, the comic is pretty big and I still felt like there needed to be more like inTeen Titans: Raven.I think I just really like them and want more. I know H.I.V.E. isn’t good but nothing has been said at all about it. Just that creepy guy “picking” the kids up. I NEED MORE!!!!!

Nuova puntata dei fumetti della DC Comics rivisitati in chiave young adult con protagonisti gli eroi e i villain della DC.
Stavolta è il turno di Beast Boy, scritto e illustrato dagli stessi autori di Raven!
Questo è forse il fumetto della serie che mi è piaciuto meno, perchè ho trovato pochissima caratterizzazione del personaggio e di tutto ciò che lo determina non solo in quanto Gar ma soprattutto come Beast Boy.
è stata comunque una piacevole lettura e i disegni mi sono piaciuti ma avrei voluto le motivazioni profonde che hanno mosso personaggi come Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman e Batgirl, perchè queste mi sono sembrate un po' deboli.
Insomma, ho trovato Gar un po' immaturo e i motivi dietro le sue azioni sono alquanto infantili, tutte votate a farsi accettare dal gruppo, a costo di far stupidaggini.
Non so, secondo me fino ad ora hanno reso decisamente meglio i personaggi femminili!

I loved this so much! Teen Titans was one of my favorite shows as a child and getting to see part of it turned into a graphic novel is so much fun!
