Two brilliant agents track one cunning psycho.

FBI Agent Alexander King has a special gift for catching vicious predators. He gets inside the twisted minds of psychopaths and hunts them down. However, this case in a small Georgia town is challenging his skills.

A serial killer named The Angel Maker has kidnapped and killed six little black girls. Local police did a lackluster investigation, thinking the girls were initially runaways. The black community believes the case is racially motivated and the force ignored all the clues. Tensions rise on both sides of town, threatening riots and more unrest.

In steps FBI Agent Haven Barron. She happens to be from the town and knows most of the victims’ parents. She believes she can catch the killer before he makes it to girl number seven. Alexander thinks she’s a beautiful distraction that could get in the way. Headstrong and determined to save her town, Haven thinks he can keep his opinions to himself.

It’s a rough start with these two unwilling partners. Still, they race to find the murderer, discovering terrifying clues and unraveling shocking secrets from the town’s past. But as this pair spends more time together, sparks fly and a forbidden attraction looms between them. Meanwhile, the psycho is watching them both.

Can they catch this killer? Or will the Angel Maker grab them?

An enemies-to-lovers story with a happy ending.

Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.

Words are power,
and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.

It's an audacity to inspire
and teach the healing of love through arousal.

It's this crazy idea that love
can not only help a reader escape,
but the story can also teach the person
about being human,
while making them laugh,
cry,
and hot for more sex.

The suspense and mystery was amazing! I couldn't get enough of the murder investigation, however the romance was severely underdeveloped and felt kind of unnecessary?? 🙃 I know it's supposed to be a romantic suspense, but I just thought the romance was too bland and almost felt like an afterthought.

I have to say I almost DNF’d this story three times. The narrator Lacy Laurel was hard for me to enjoy.
The story was more of a crime mystery with a very small romantic subplot. But I was engaged to the historical fiction angle of the Fanny restaurant and the history of the original “Fanny”.

The story moved at a slow pace but it was an interesting mystery so I had to follow the evidence to see who is kidnapping and murdering young black girls. I was happy with how the story was concluded.

3.4 stars. I liked this book.

The primary focus of the story was the thriller mystery finding the murderer of the little black girls. I'm not going to spoil it and get into details. All I'm going to say is that the suspense was crazy good. The serial killer, their mentality, was fucked up.

Even though this was a romance thriller, I'd say this book had about 35% romance and steamy moments later on. It didn't leave a bad taste all things considered. I must warn you that this book includes heavy content about slavery and racial division and close-minded assholes.

The only thing that did not sit right with me is the ending. Or I should say how Haven and Alexander moved from 1 to 100 in their relationship. I had no issues with their attraction to one another at the beginning of the book. They tried to keep things professional between them by pushing their attraction for one another aside to find the killer. But of course, that wouldn't work if two attractive people were sharing a hotel room, forbidden things were bound to happen. I did not like their insta-love at the end. I get that the heroine almost died and the hero didn't want to lose her. But to throw away their careers for a chance to explore their attraction to each other was a bit reckless. Frankly, I think the ending was a rush job. The author probably wanted to compensate for the lack of romance scenes. Then bam, the MCs go on a well-deserved vacation but it irks me to think that they know nothing about each other or not enough to declare the big "L" word. Then the hero proposed a couple of weeks later. Whoooaa. Slow down man.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. My second book by this author.

This was a interesting story about the disappearance and killing of 6 African-American little girls from the ages of 6-12....How each girl disappeared monthly on some kind of religious holiday....Initially, I didn't think I would be able to listen...but, it really turned out to be an interesting story...The FBI Agents had to be called in because local police really wasn't doing their jobs...and the FBI agents were able to uncover years of missing girls both black and white that went unresolved. In fact, these agents uncovered a few other crimes in this town and 2 other neighboring towns...Now the sex scenes between the agents when they finally got together was kind of wack! This was an audiobook for me so I'm happy that in a book of 37 or 38 chapters I didn't have to listen to those wack ass sex scenes until around chapter 20....then I only believe there 2 more scenes to follow...this was actually about a story....Now the narration was something else...The female narration is ALWAYS terrible to me....I just don't like her voice and to me she doesn't convey a story well...on the other hand in this story, the male narrator is better with this story....he help me get through the book.

In a small town, little girls are being kidnapped and classified as runaways by the local police. It isn't until six months later and another child goes missing that the FBI is called in to solve the whereabouts of the missing children. Enter Alexander King and his special unit that tracks and takes down (dead or alive) serial killers. A unit with a high track record of catching the bad guy(s)! Special Agent Haven Barron has asked to be specifically assigned to the case since it all takes place in the town where she grew up, and where her mother still lives.

Agent King doesn't want her there, not for her lack of skills, he's well aware of her skills and of her and he doesn't need the distraction or the attraction.Doth protests too much!Haven isn't going anywhere and she proves from Day One to be very instrumental in the investigation, so much so that she is warned off. Which brings about another set of complications. Whodunit?! I suspected everybody!

If you're expecting this couple to cross the line, well you'll have to read the book to find out, just know that this is as-l-o-wburn romance/mystery. Was I satisfied? Totally! I can definitely see this being a series! Hello Kenya? Are you listening?!

Highly Recommended: Read It!

NOTE: This book has a difficult subject matter involving children.

Love the Cover and this couple and I hope to see them again. Kenya Wright is a total Rock Star! Read her books!

Whew

This book was so good. I felt bad for the babies and Vernon. I kinda of figured who it was before it was revealed because of how he kept pushing to be involved in the investigation. I admired Haven because she showed resilience even when things hit close to home. This book was such a good read.

Just WOW

Ms Kenya never ceases to amaze me. Missing Hearts gave me so many emotions. I mean this story is such a thriller. It takes the human mind and fills it with so much twists and turns. This story had everything that makes up a good book. It had mystery, violence, sex, serial killers, racism. Without given too much away this story centers around a small rural town named Fullbrook. Like most down south areas it's full of racism. The city is heavily divided with racism, slave history etc. The FBI is called in when six little black girls go missing and are killed. A FBI unit known as King men is called in to investigate and find this serial killer. The unit is lead by Alexander King, such a specimen of a man. The investigation starts to heat up once a new agent Haven is assigned to work with Alexander. Haven just so happens to also be a native of Fullbrook. Once she arrives the chemistry between her and King is hot, sizzling, and down rightfully. The love scenes... well let's just say I need to take a shower after reading. Haven is able to find important clues to the murder from her knowledge of the town. Now I must say the killer took me by surprise. It messed me up but it was good. I recommend this book to anyone that's willing to dive into a book that digs into the minds of serial killers and is unapologetic about racism. Kudos Ms Wright. You've done it again.

For the first I would say 70% of this book, I didn't really consider it to be a romance novel. It was more of a mystery, suspense, crime book. Well-written, but the focus was not on Haven and Alexander, but more about the case they were trying to solve with the murdered young Black girls in Haven's hometown. She was pretty close to the case, knew the suspects, which makes me believe in reality, FBI would never have put her on this case. She was compromised and it clouded her judgment that she knew these people personally even though they were more likely to open up to her for interviews due to their general distrust of law enforcement, especially White male ones, which Alexander happens to be. There's an attraction between him and Haven from the jump, but it's not acted upon for most of the book. Once they do get together though, it's electric and we are treated to a lot of steamy love scenes for the remaining 30% of the book lol It makes up for not having any for the majority of the book. It seems these two work well together on and off the clock so I'd really like to see more of them actually, solving cases while loving on each other. Good story!

Kenya Wright delivers on all fronts

Why did I choose this rating? I chose this rating because Kenya is such a great writer and she knows her audience. Her style is so smooth. She is so creative, yet responsible, easily one of the best writers in IR genre and fiction. She demonstrates such a mastery in her writing and a maturity of thought that many new authors could learn from when crafting a hero. The author delivers the type of hero that values and treasures his counterpart consistently, even when he's being "Alpha" *. The female hero* is smart and likeable, but not perfect. So many times I read books that leave the female protagonist looking victimized and controlled by Alphaholes with magic sex. Or even worse, a mystery with no sex, or poorly written sex... Wrights Alphaholes are all obsessed with their woman, willing to raise her up and treasure her, never degrading, but still nasty and masterful, that real fantastic book boyfriend we look for.!!😁 The mystery had me mystified...no spoilers. It was well done because I wasn't sure....The Surprises had me laughing out loud, twists and turns and dark comes to light!! Well done. I'm a huge fan, this story justified my love

So much potential

This book had so much potential but it ended up being... meh. In the first half, the heroine and hero were strong equals, the case kept the reader on their toes, and the chemistry between the two characters was 🔥. Then they had sex and I felt like it all went down hill. The sex scenes were a little weird, honestly. Then the heroine became a whole different chick. She has sex with him and it's like the character lost her strength and potency in the story. The same can be said for the hero. The plot also got a little shaky for me after that. It was like the author was rushing to fill in every plot hole but neglecting the writing and story. About 70% into the book, I started skipping though pages. Also. So. Many. Grammar. Errors. Omg. Subject verb sheave was off in several places, words missing, etc. But overall the book was just ok.

I knew going in that this was going to be a rough one for me, because reading about racism is a trigger for me. And it was hard. But I trusted this author to make it all good. And she mostly did, I feel like all of my dislike for the book is due to my feelings on the matter, and it just didn't let me enjoy the book as much as I have her other books. But the writing was good, and I enjoyed the narration of the audiobook. And loved Haven and Alexander together! The bad guy was pretty obvious to me from early on, but it didn't bother me too much, I enjoyed the hunt.

Kenya Wright is an artist of the written word. She had me by the throat in this heart pounding, page turning thriller. This book is about alpha hero FBI agent Alexander and the alpha heroine FBI agent Haven. It's a mystery that doubles as a romance. The steam is a slow steady build, but you won't be disappointed. You will be surprised by the killer. That's all I'm going to say on that. They are searching for a serial killer who is targeting black girls. It will make you think of what kind of world are we living in today. Loved Loved Loved this book. It's told in different points of view, no cheating, and no cliffhanger, and has a hea. I highly recommend this book.

This book was out of this world amazing. It was a heavy read. It covers the issue of black girls being kidnapped and how it's handled; a topic that has very real ties to what's going on today. The historical facts and its ties to racism were brilliantly woven. I think that was what made this story heavy for me. Everything that I read was believable. The inappropriate handling of missing black girls on the part of the cops, the subtle and not so subtle Southern racism, the cops covering for each other, Haven hoping that the suspect wasn't black....it is clear that Ms. Kenya has done her research and has incorporated modern day realities in this story.

The suspense had me going. I went from suspecting one character than another and then back to the initial character.

The ROMANCE. I loved the fact that there was an undeniable atteaction between Haven and Tamara that wasn't just demonstrated through sex. You could feel the chemistry between them!

This is probably Kenya's best book yet! If I could give this one more than 5 stars, I would!

I love this book. Kenya Wright has been added to the list of one of my favorite IR authors. The book has everything, mystery, intrigue, heartbreak, romance, protection and family dynamics all rolled up in one. Alexander and Haven have a mutual attraction from the first time they meet but because of the job, they cannot act on it right away. This book has a believable plot because it is dealing with a real life, real-time crisis that is going on in this world.

Thank you to the author for a great read! I highly recommend adding this book to your collection.

no connection

I never felt the chemistry that the author demonstrated for the main characters. Somehow, I never got lost in this book. The elements were there for a good story, but I didn’t connect. The author explained why and how the killings occurred, but I felt nothing. I am definitely a fan of Ms. Wright's work and I have read many of her books. The Lion and the Mouse series is my favorite. I am completely enthralled and eagerly await each new book to released. But this story is a miss for ME. I think other readers should read it for themselves because they may enjoy it.

Alexander and Haven are working on a missing persons case in a small town in Georgia. Alexander doesn’t want on this case because he is so instantly attracted to her. Haven can’t help but notice how good Alexander looks in his suits. As these two investigate the disappearances of six black girls tensions rise in the city, and between members of the team. This is a new author to me. I enjoyed her writing style. The romance was slower burn than I like, but it was very good. I enjoyed the ending, skipping forward a few months, but the ending was a little longer than it needed to be. Overall, this is a really good book and I can’t wait to read more from Kenya Wright.

I would like to give this a 2.75
I honestly enjoyed the mystery more than romance. I believe the author did a great job having the reader care about the town, it’s history, and its current nightmare. I felt that the romance came in incredibly hot and heavy too quickly. In regards to the relationship between the two protagonist, There was a lot of telling and their thoughts shared the same tone, which was odd because they were two different genders and grew up in different situations. however, the mystery had more nuances and was a more enjoyable read for me.

Not this authors best work

The characters and their love story was one dimensional and. The dialogue was stilted and awkward. The sex scenes were awkward and didn't serve to move the story further. The author spent so much time hammering racism and showing it's evils that they failed to tell any real story with depth. The book seemed to be just thrown together to emphasize the importance of our current BLM movement.
