FANS OF LAURA THALASSA AND AMELIA HUTCHINS WILL DEVOUR THIS SERIES

Dreaded revelations from the first prince and the iilra leave April in the bleakest spot she's ever experienced.

Now, she's got other worries to consider. And she might not survive all the threats building up around her like a fortress.
Her choices are just as bleak as her circumstance.
1. Stay and risk being killed by Prince Daein
2. Return home and die of her sickness
3. Flee with the help of the iilra and hopefully survive long enough in the light lands to fulfil what she's started, to protect her most precious love from the vicious Prince Daein.

April knows as much as her only companion Terry does. It's not looking good.
But all she has is hope, so she'll hold onto that until her dying breath.

A century has passed, this new world is now ruled by the faes. Those humans who somehow survived all that war and every obstacle that the dark fae threw at them: famine, eternal darkness that swallowed up a once-light world, disease, battles, invasions and the morke.

April is born to the new world. She never saw the sun, only heard stories about it from her grandfather. She lives poorly with her family. April is born sick, a sickness which seems to have no cure. Trying to secure a future for herself was her aim and it was difficult considering no one wants a sick girl. Before she knew it she is taken by the prince of the dark realm to his castle. Prince Daein is no different from Caspan and Cliff but his cruelness has no bounds. The ending was sad. Compared to Vale and Coralee, April's life wasn't justified. Overall I enjoyed this book and the pairing from the whole series. I'm excited to see what more this series has to give.

This for me would have been a great series definitely a close second to the Princes Prisoner series but I feel let down by this book. I was expecting so much more but this book just left me feeling unsatisfied. I can’t even describe it but the ending was just too rushed and the characters too distant in their thoughts and feelings. I don’t make it a secret that I really don’t like the heroine’s this author writes apart from Callie but this heroine was one of the better ones in the previous books. In this one I found her just quite contradictory and her at the end? She was just too much of nothing and everything. Just a strange final book in my opinion not of the plot which I liked but of the too rushed characters.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

In my Quinn Blackbird era and it rocks. How is every book that I read from her better than the last?? So glad I started with this book in her Dark Fae series. I think I tried to read Caspan and Vale’s story last year and it wasn’t working for me, but the dark fae prince and the sickly human house slave romance was EVERYTHING. I love feeling this type of angst.

The sequel is even better. The author may have said but it feels like she put two novellas together for this “sequel” because after the time jump, the first few pages are dedicated to the heroine recapping things that we already know.

I loved how much more 💋😗 moments there are in the sequel. And out of all the works that I’ve read so far by Blackbird, April and Daein have had more physical moments (even in the first book) so YAY.

Honestly I was happy to know that this was a 350 page novel because I needed more from this couple! I prefer when Blackbird bundles her stories together, because they are addicting.

This couple reminded me in some moments of Zoey Draven’s Horde King series, particularly of Claimed By The Horde King. Zoey Draven does cultural differences, human lover undervalued very well. I saw this in the angst of their story where everyone doesn’t want Daein to be with April. Other vibes? Hades and Persephone.

However, April has more of that feminine mystique ennui in this story. She is miserable and does nothing to gild her cage for most of the story, so I was holding out for a change in her, and I am glad that we get that. She not only speaks up more but she also gets what she has been denied - her freedom. Her sense of personhood.

Blackbird is setting up the Forsaken series this year so I am assuming the next instalment will feature the dark fae and perhaps a human survivor. I would LOVE to see a halfling match, or more dark fae and light fae pairings… thank you Quinn Blackbird for this amazing fantasy romance series!

best series by author so far!

I’m so shocked by certain events in this book I truly was not expecting what happened in the beginning or or after with Elden! As for the heroine I actually liked her in this book because I saw a less selfish side to her so I definitely could empathise with her and the decisions she made. The only gripe I had was I wish there were actual scenes with Daein and his son I would have loved to see how he interacted with him the first time he saw him and even later on in the epilogue. I also would have loved Ensley getting her just deserts on page I just felt she got off too easy. I am sadistic enough to wish I could witness her humiliation. Still really enjoyed this series.

Great conclusion to the Black World series. I was disappointed by how what I thought should've been Elden's story turned out to be a little chapter to put the obsessed driven people like me, by cruel heroes to shut it, maybe not all dark villains deserve redemption, I mean:I was sad that I didn't get to have a proper book for him. But QB put all her energy in what is IMO her best couple, Daein and April, and their very Quinnn's style hea.

I want to say thank you to this amazing, very humble author. Who even though writes long series, with novella length parts, never makes me feel frustrated, but excited to what's coming next, bc she always delivers.

Great story

Until the end. I don’t get it.

SPOILERS

NO LEGIT DON’T READ IT. SPOILERS.

so she doesn’t love him? What....
color me stupid but I seriously thought she loved him. And he knows it!! Um okay. That makes no sense. For them to be that in tune with each other and that’s not love.

What!!!

12 years of squashing uglies and she doesn’t love him. No.

Just no.

She loves him and that’s final.

How stressful. Hahahahaha

Constructive Criticism for the flatline of this installment series

Summing it up... this story has no pulse. My review is 100% constructive criticism. All readers should take it that way.
I want to be gentle with this because I have the most admiration for writers and the creative process. I just can’t get behind this story. Book 2 I started to feel the faint flutter of life only to have it flatline again in book 3 and then DOA for book 4.
It has so many great foundations that i was desperate for the author to build on and I clung to these foundations in hopes that the story could rise to the occasion. Such as:
1. The relationship that was growing between the prince and April (although turned into a woman beating, dreadful avalanche of yuck). BUT... (Spoiler alert) how the hell after everything they’d been through—even him tying his life to hers and marrying her (as she asked of him) does she still regard him with such animosity at the end? Something is intrinsically wrong with her. The whole “beating” aspect of his character is 100% out of character for Prince Daein (in my opinion). The two sides of him were too Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Too contrast to the point of disbelief.
- AND- the relationship between April and her best friend Terry (someone hold me back)...
The best relationship of April’s life is reduced to half a page at best as they have one last playful moment in the lake (where April pouts) and then her friend is just gone... wth!!!!!!
2. The rising issue of the light fading back into their dark existence (the whole reason the prince’s brother wanted to stop the relationship and the pregnancy). This was my moment to say “ah,ha” and smile. I thought for sure this was the adversity, the problem, the main character would have to overcome to get her happily ever after. I was intrigued at the end of book 2. BUT... it was never fully realized as the adversity and wasn’t fully wrapped up either. What happened there?
3. The ending... there was a chance to wrap the story up to have some semblance of a happy ending and give the reader a feeling of worth in have given over hours of their precious existence. BUT... no. Hell, I’d have settled for AN ending for which this story didn’t exactly deliver on.
& 4. Fantasy world building... that is, if it actually took shape beyond the tunnel vision of our main character. THESE BOOKS SCREAMED FOR A DUEL PERSPECTIVE... someone other than an ignorant girl who knew NOTHING about the world the story was set in. This world didn’t take shape due to focusing on the castle and the life of April. Fantasy is supposed to take you out of the realm of the reader’s reality to make the fantasy world the focus; a focus that drives both main character, the problem, and the story FORWARD. There was so much potential here that just fell FISSLED.
I wanted so much for this story to change course—to take A course—but without spending the time and word count that it so greatly needed, it just didn’t deliver.
It jumped in time and there were many moments I was just as confused as April. It pains me greatly to give a poor review, but it is my hope that this can help in future installments for the writer.

Fae's Concubine is the 4th book of the Dark Fae: Black World series and yep, this is the grand finale.

I didn't know whether I loved Daein or hated him throughout the whole series. I'm kinda crazy so I'm still learning more towards the love him category though. He's Dark Fae, so yeah... I'm intrigued, haha.

I do know that I love this whole dismal world Quinn has created and I don't think I'll tire of it. I do hope we get to see the next generation's descendants in a future series.

Regarding this series - I love how it all wrapped up. I was worried for a minute there!

Fabulous series conclusion! Love it.

Recommend it highly and hope you don't have triggers!

Book 3 of the Black World series by Quinn Blackbird picks up just as we left off in the last book. It's a rapid release series thankfully because I am dying to know what happens next.

This story is amazing and things are bleak right now. I have a feeling things will get worse before they get better. Two characters like Daein and April... I don't even know what to think.

Daein is the king of mixed signals. I don't know how April copes as well as she does. Seriously, what's a girl to think! But as much as I'm left wondering, I'm also pretty darn enamored with Daein. What can I say... I have issues clearly, haha.

I love this series. I am so looking forward to the next. Blackbird never disappoints. Everything she writes in this world is amazing.

Another 5 star read. Love it and want more now!

A little depressing. I feel like there was a warning for a miserable ending I mist have missed. I wanted to love it and was looking forward to this final chapter but it fell short of my expectations.

I just finished the first TWO books of the Black World series by Quinn Blackbird and OMG 😲 you guys! I am OBSESSED!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Ok SO MUCH to say!! 🙌🏻

FIRST and MOST important! This is NOT FOR EVERYONE ☠️! Y’all that know me by now with my ‘emoji’ reviews 😜… know that I LOVE ❤️ ALL sorts of books! So my main goal with these reviews is that yes, they are entertaining 🤪… but that ultimately you see this and know IMMEDIATELY if this is a book for you or not (since I personally love all kinds of genres & tropes!) That way it’s a win-win 🏆 for both reader and author! 👏🏻

And this book is… WOW 🤩! If you don’t like STEAM 🔥, scroll-on-by! If you don’t like DARK romance, scroll-on-by! If you don’t like a truly BAD 😈 MMC VILLAN with an enemy-to-lovers trope, scroll-on-by! If you don’t like dubious consent 😬… please scroll-on-by! Again, this is NOT for EVERYONE!!

Ok so now that I have those warnings ⚠️ covered… you guys, I am SO OBSESSED 🖤🖤🖤. This is a Rapid Release format (she releases pieces of the books at a time, which is why I’m writing this on Book 1 and Book 2 because together, they feel like one complete book to me)… from a really unknown author and I just stumbled upon it while searching Amazon last night! And let me tell you… I read the 'Look Inside' and I was HOOKED 🙌🏻. But then I saw that it didn’t have great reviews 😢, so I moved on! But that 'Look Inside' just nagged at me… I had to go back 🏃🏻‍♀️! It was calling me… “Rebecca... Rebecca…Rebecca… please come read me” 😆! So I went back and looked at the reviews once more and you know what?!? 😠😠😠 This is one of those authors where people are clicking “helpful” on the bad reviews in order to get them to jump to the top reviews section 😲! Just like what happened with Stephanie Hudson! 😡 This is SO WRONG and it makes me SO ANGRY 😤 that people would do this to an Author who has poured their heart ❤️ & soul into their work! So once I saw that… I was like…. Hellllll No!! I’m gonna give this a shot! And boy! I am SO GLAD I DID! 🥳🥳🥳

So this book is about a sort of apocalyptic world where the DARK FAE swept in, brought the darkness, and killed like, most of the humans 😬. Only few remain and their sole role is to provide a yearly bounty to the Fae in the form of goods. Enter 👉🏻 our FMC 👏🏻. She’s 26 and sickly 🤕. Every year when the Dark Prince 👑 comes to reap her family’s fruity bounty, she hides from him since weak humans are cruelly discarded in this world of no sun ☀️ and no moon 🌙! This is a tactic that successfully works year after year… until it doesn’t 😉. Leaving our heroine wondering if the bounty given was ever really supposed to be the crops 🍎 her family grows or… something much more? 💋🔥

OMG the world building is SO FANTASTIC 🙌🏻 in these books! I was sucked in from the get go! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I could SEE 👀 the darkness, FEEL 🌬 the chill, and wistfully reminisce ☺️ about the world (our world) that existed before the EVIL 😈 FAE. I was drawn to her plight, her struggles, her illness. Every time she coughed, I was right there with her! Feeling for her! 🖤🖤🖤 And when her plight begins, I was with her for every minute of her journey… page turning after page turning! Anxious 😬 to see what happened next… NEEDING to know what happened next! 🙏🏻😬🙏🏻😬🙏🏻

And you guys, I’m SO torn up about this MMC !! This is a AUTHENTIC, REAL enemies-to-lovers! This guys is an ENEMY 🔪! No question! And although I usually only like bad boys (who are really good guys ☺️)… I’m just as obsessed with this MMC as this FMC is! He is hot 🥵! He has searing eyes 👀! And he cannot look away from our girl! 🔥🔥 But man! He is BAD BAD BAD! And the STEAM!!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Oh my gosh. So steamy 🌶! It’s all kinds of WRONG… like Haunting Adeline kind of wrong 😅… but I don’t care, I love it! 🖤🖤🖤 It’s Fantasy! It’s Fantasy, peeps! Not real! But freaking addictive! 🙌🏻👏🏻🙌🏻

And the writing is SO great. Like GREAT 🤩. It reads like a Romance Fantasy… feels like it starts out like a FBAA (ok it’s NOTHING like FBAA… let’s be very clear there! But I was hooked like I was with FBAA)… and for the longest time I couldn’t tell if this was a Romance Fantasy or a PRN 😮! The cover made me think PRN and then when the steam happens, I was like yup… gotta be a PRN 😆! But it totally fooled me for a while because the world building is SO good 👏🏻 and it feels so much like a Romance Fantasy… except it’s super easy to understand! I’m not sitting there re-reading sentences trying to figure out the descriptions (beautiful 🌈 descriptions in some Romance Fantasies, yes, but still work on my part! 😂😂😂)

So I haven’t read the rest of the books… just the first two books… but I CANNOT wait to start book three 👏🏻! I literally took a beat to write this first because I HAD to get the word out there! I think this author is a hidden gem 💎! She has hardly any ratings and hardly any followers… and based on these two books, that has to change folks! 🤞🏻🙏🏻 And I’m trying to help with that change 💜! I’m not affiliated with this author (or the book biz for that matter,) but I’ve read 100’s of Romance Fantasies, PRN’s, and UFs… and this story (if you like this kind of dark trope)… is up there y’all with some of my favs! So much so, that when searching for more info on this author, I found a post from the AMAZING 🤩 Author RAVEN KENNEDY (Plated Prisoner!) just GUSHING about these book too! So it ain’t just me obsessed, yo! 🙌🏻

So if you like a REAL enemies-to-lover where the MMC is truly a BAD guy, some pretty freaking AMAZING doomsday worldbuilding, a FMC that has an actual illness 🤕 but is doing everything she can to combat 🤺 it, some HOT 🥵 STEAM (and yes, definitely dubious consent scenes😬,) a combo of both Romance Fantasy and DARK PRN, supporting an unknown author, and some pretty gripping page-turning… give this a shot! It’s free on KU and you never know, it may be addictive AILMENT that ensnares you!

I need to know what happens next! I am thinking I know, but usually when that happens... PLOT TWIST. So, yeah. Just gonna wait and see lol.

After being taken from her parent's home to live in the dark fae prince's home, April ends up being the center of the prince's attention. She's been coughing up blood and sick all of her life, but Daein, the prince in question, helps her get better for a time. She's caught between a rock and a hard place.

When you are literally a captive and have no say so whatsoever, are offered the illusion of choice - depending how you word a bargain, and melt into a puddle whenever the oh so sexy prince can't keep his hands to himself... well, that's exactly why I'm hooked and hanging onto every word!

The Dark Fae, Blackworld series, part two is Fae's Captive by Quinn Blackbird picks up just as part one ends. I love it.

Before I begin my review for Faes' Captive (Dark Fae: New World book 2) by Quinn Blackbird, I would personally like to thank the author, publisher and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.

As April settles into her new role as house slave, she finds herself distracted by the icy stares of the dangerous and cruel dark fae Prince. Quietly working off her families debt is not an option as it becomes blatantly obvious that she's on the Princes radar. Enter the dark realm of faerie and experience the devious yet delicious delights it can bring.

Faes' Captive features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ Dark fantasy
○ Dark romance
○ Stockholm Syndrome
○ Fae
○ Smut
○ Novella series

My overall rating for Faes' Captive is…

5 Stars!

All bow down to the Queen! Blackbird has taken my soul captive and I don't think I'll ever be getting it back. I love the fast burn romance this novella featured and the devious and destructive sexual relationship our main characters create. This series has definitely bought a new flavour to the world of Dark Fae and I can't wait to be captivated with book 3.

It left me feeling uneasy

I devoured this series as a quick read. It was fast paced, gripping and held an interesting premise. I have so many unanswered questions, (what about her past/family) and was hoping for a few more answers. I was quite sad to not see another instalment, hah. I enjoyed this (except a certain carriage scene) all the way up until the end.

The epilogue was absolutely devastating. There was no happiness, no comfort, no “this is right in the world.” I mean, you always sort of hope for a happily ever after at the end of the day, but this really slaps you in the face that HEA don’t always exist, and nothing in life can guarantee you that you won’t end up feeling alone/broken/trapped. Not only is she emotionally dead to him, but her child is hinted at being a cruel monster. If the author’s intention was to try and cast some good sense back into the fae-loving audience to stop romanticising them and give them a wide berth, well, mission accomplished. What is it about a dark anti-hero that makes you want to swoon and hope for a HEA? Sighhhhhhh.

I dont know how to feel about this

I don't know how to feel about this book.on the one had i like the main character and the story im intrigued to keep reading more to find out what happens to her.however this book other lead the prince i think is ment to be hard but sexy? Like some of the submisive books ive read in the past, Well i dont get that at all he comes off abusive, a murder, and a rapeist she screams in her head stop when havin sex, he hits her and nearly chokes her to death then makes her cut herself with a dagger then to top it all off it ends with a threat that he might kill there child shes carrying. Also the "3 books" are really just 1 book split into 3 so thats always annoying. I think the writer needs to start painting the prince in a better light or i cant grow to like him at all if thats even possible at this stage. Not entirely sure i will keep reading or not

* NO HEA.

All the mundane activities that April did as a slave and her interactions with the other slaves, was very dull to read about. That's really most of the story. With occasional scenes with the prince. The storyline definitely needed more action, suspense and/or drama.Somethingmore interesting!

The MCs eventually start having sex (more like the prince uses her for sexual relief). The sex scenes are not steamy at all. They're not described in detail and are quickly over.

Physical descriptions are sparse. I was not able to picture the castle based on what little we get. Character descriptions are fine, no complaints there.

I read this back when there were 4 short books (before it was changed to 2 books). I never did read the 4th book, after learning there was no HEA. The 3-star rating was for the 3rd book.

The ending is terrible. Very disappointed about that. 👎

Poor taste

I struggled enough reading the first installments of this book series given the violence of the few prince. I held hope that the prince was tortured and misunderstood. Nope. This is a romance about a woman stolen, kidnapped, beaten out of jealousy and still grovels to maintain a romance. Why is there a trend to write and read romances founded in domestic violence. Making the characters supernatural does not change to narrative and make to violence acceptable.

Not sure

I am not sure I like the series. It started hot and promising and in book 5 we have depressed heroine, hulling hero, a little sociopath and the heroine making the same mistakes. Some type of walking in circles. Yet, maybe book 6 will fix these things and we will have the happy HEA we wish for.
