Oh yes it does. But it's nothing like the romance of this century. There's no holding hands, or even outright flirting. It's all SO SO understated, and still, just with words, Austen manages to convey how much people are in love with each other. Words that describe beauty and words that describe a character's awkwardness around another, mainly.
