This was a fantastic adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale. The art style was absolutely perfect for the story and it was seamlessly told in this condensed version.
trigger warnings: rape, kidnapping, torture (both psychological and physical), police brutality, a totalitarian government, institutionalized misogyny, murder, infant mortality of all kinds, and suicide (trigger warnings taken fromhttps://alphamom.com/parenting/big-ki...)....more

I can happily say that this graphic novel version was absolutely, 100% the most PERFECT adaptation I could ever wish for. The illustrations were so stunning they left my mouth hanging open in wonder and the atmosphere of the original Anne text shined through so clearly in this graphic novel version. It's just perfect and I will DEFINITELY be purchasing a copy of my own as soon as it comes out!...more

When I first read this for school 5 years ago I absolutely hated it. I could appreciate what Fitzgerald managed to do with this novel in highlighting how superficial people are, which results in their unhappiness, but I still find this novel boring. I kept having to rewind the audiobook because I'd just zone out through a lack of interest. However, his writing is beautiful even if it was a little detached (which was probably done on purpose). Very mixed feelings about this classic, but I'm glad I reread it now that I can understand it more....more

Emily's poetry is beautiful and haunting, but I definitely enjoyed some more than others!

This was... fine? Definitely lacks the magic of Jane Eyre for me but I liked it way more than Wuthering Heights. I much preferred Anne's other book, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
trigger warnings: loss of siblings in infancy, mention of animal abuse and killing of animals, loss of a loved one.

Charlotte was a revolutionary, a catalyst for change, not only in fiction, but also in how people perceive others. I am so moved by the Brontë's story that I feel I have been forever changed. I swear I will visit you one day Charlotte and weep at your grave, my soul sister. <3 (okay, that was a little dramatic, but GUYS SRSLY)....more
