Optimism may have been a neologism during Voltarie's days but yet the spark of hope that, 'everything will turn out to be the best' and that, 'everything always happens for our good' is truly a remarkable one even in ours. Even though Candide upheld the philosophy that 'we live in the best of the all possible world', he had so many unfortunate events in his life journey that may not make him so optimistic a person. Yet we find him to be so fortunate among all his companions that he himself was the best of all possible people surrounding him. His final message that our own sweat can only reap the rewards towards the best of all possible world is truly the vision of Voltaire to curb the three evils of world which he describes as: boredom, vice, and want....more
