The final battle is here the pack are closer than ever yet Selena and her Alpha are keeping secrets from each other. Something they will both soon regret.
So many things happening it's easy to get mixed up, but you just have to keep turning the pages to find out where we will be led next.
I love how the author tied up some of the loose ends to give a satisfying ending, definitely no cliff hanger this time.
One thing I did love was how the author made me want to learn more. For example I went on to do a little research of my own after the writer mentioned Peter Pringle in the credits. A talented Canadian musician who specialises in the music of lost languages and instruments. Particularly the Samerians.
I also checked out the painter Ray Troll after the main character bought a piece of art for her brother. All wonderful stuff. The whole series well worth checking out....more

Loved this more than book one (which you have to read first because this book series needs to be read in order. There are too many characters and too many things going on for you to simply dive straight into this one.)
Here in book two Selena has settled in with her mate Andras. She has moved on from her loner status, and has found the pack now becoming her new family. Things heat up when the pack are attacked on their home turf and suddenly a new older guy is thrown into the mix. But has he come to Selena's rescue or does he have ulterior motives?
This book, like the first can get a tad overwhelming with so many supernatural beings. It is hard to keep track of all the characters. Hence the four stars. But I can tell you now this is a book series worth checking out. Now, that is all I have to say because I NEED to get on and read the final book....more

What can I say but the book cover has got to be one of my all time favourites. I was intrigued by the image of the bear and the beautiful background of the stars. This book is unlike anything I've read before, if I'm honest a little bit overwhelming so much is packed in. Shapeshifters, aliens, magic users. There is action, adventure thrills and spills just so much happening.
However, I did love the characters, Selena a talented artist a little pocket rocket who loves nature and is well able to take care of herself in a sticky situation. She is drawn to the beautiful handsome hulk that is Andras Jones a kind caring soul in a very fit body with the most dreamy eyes. He is surrounded by colleagues and friends who are equally fit and easy on the eye. (What can I say but the descriptions almost had me swooning.)
Also I actually had to pause reading once or twice to check out some of the music and singers mentioned in the story. It was a nice interlude and I will be checking out more at some point. I'm so glad I didn't read this when it was first published because the story ends abruptly on a real cliff hanger, and I would have been devastated if I'd have had to wait for the next instalment.
I actually let out a loud and long "Noooo!" before remembering I could immediately download book 2 so that's what I'm off to do. Happy Reading Book Lovers...more

Raven, is now a lower class citizen after she thought she was moving into the posh school to at least be in with a chance of life after a tyrannical government condemned the poor to death. However, she knows hope is now dwindling after jumping from the fire and into the frying pan. Roger has proclaimed himself the new leader of the underdogs and things are becoming worse. Some are starting to become sick with flu and these poor souls are being isolated on the upper floors. Things take a turn for the worse when her brother is taken away and Raven has no say in the matter.
Gambling never pays off, and Riley finds she has lost everything. To protect her friends she takes on the job of assassin but it is slowly driving her to drink. Will this all go bottoms up too?
The so called X-Drug is giving Karissa strength and now overconfidence verging on cockiness. But she is having weird dreams and when she looks in the mirror she cannot believe how ill she is beginning to look. However, war is here at last and Team Nine are about to board the airship to England to win back the land the girl has been training to reclaim since childhood. So keeping her friends close and her smirking enemy closer the group embark to a multitude of cheers from the elite and her mentor Captain Strauss. The woman who might just have tampered with the strength-giving X-Drug.

This dark moving collection was inspired by a visit to Cornwall in 2023 where Bryony tells us
'Sitting by the ocean is both euphoric and devastating, a little bit like sitting with your feelings'
Poetry is something often very personal, this collection certainly is. I feel that each poem read will be interpreted differently by different individuals.
Each person will take away something possibly personal to themselves, be it joy or heartache. We may not even interpret it the way the author had envisioned. Sadly for some readers they will find themselves in the very shoes this beautiful creative person wears herself.
I had mixed emotions reading this collection even the dark cover hints at the sadness held within the pages. Highly recommended but sensetive souls should take note of the content warnings before delving into the elements....more

Another edge of your seat page turner. Our three main characters moving on to something new in their lives but will it be good or bad?
Ravens family is dwindling but her goal is to survive and take care of her brother. She's compassionate and wants to help everyone she has thoughts, hopes and dreams of working with the other refugees to make the best of their situation. However, Roger whom she is highly suspicious of appears to be somehow buying off the loyalty of the others. Even Logan her old friend doesn't seem to understand what they are getting into.
Pit fighter Riley won her freedom but it came as a huge price. She's moved from fighter to gambler but they is not necessarily a good thing either. She may be on a high with a winning streak but gamblers are sure to take a tumble sooner or later. Where will she and her friends go If that should happen, will her friends still stick around?
Finally Karissa child soldier part of the experimental X-Drug trials. She has been chosen as leader of Team Nine but the team are not happy especially her brother. How can she prove she is the best fit for the group, war is coming and she will soon be called to fight for her country and rid the world of the 'Inferiors'.
These books are gripping I cannot stop reading, always wanting to know what will happen to our strong characters moving forward.

I have to admit I'm not usually a fan of dystopian YA reads. I've had this in my kindle for a while it was only during an online book event that I finally 'Re-visited this story and brought it closer to the top of my tbr list.
Hooked from the opening sentence I devoured the book in one sitting. All three main female characters were well developed strong young women. Fighting for survival in an overpopulated world, where things are becoming increasingly out of hand. Only the rich and privileged are meant to survive.
Raven lives in the poorest part of town, on the anniversary of her mother's death things suddenly take a turn for the worse she plans to leave with her surviving family but where can they go?
Riley is a very young cage fighter, to be able to eat and survive she must kill each opponent she faces. But the world is changing. The rich punters who gamble on the fights need their money to buy the new X-Drug that is said to make them the stronger race, the ones who will survive. Cage fighting is ending and what will be left for Riley and her fighter friends?
Karissa was chosen at the age of 6 years to train to become a soldier. Along with other young children they are now finally ready for the war that is coming, they already have the strength because the government have been testing the X-Drug upon them.
This is a book that will have you hooked and I'm off to download book 2 right now....more

Go on enter if you dare, but he warned this dark tale can really mess with your mind.
My thought upon opening the book was that I had read this before. Yet as the story progressed I realised it was just an opening similar to a novel I had read many moons ago. The title of which escapes me. But the scene was set and my own mind kept revisiting the fairground even when the book was not in my hand.
The character of the Crooked Man was so freaky the stuff of many nightmares I am sure. I can still clearly see his grossly misshapen body with it's long elongated limbs calling out to Will and others. Ultimately playing with their minds so they are unable to tell what is real and what is not. Hell, the story had my thoughts jumping around all over the place.
There are a lot of characters in this story, some standing out more than others. Will the main character is a complex soul, with his mental illness and the life he has encountered from such an early age. Ian his stepfather although only little cameo appearances is a strong grounding and supportive man. But the character that stands out for me is 'The Stranger'. This character has so many layers to him, his introduction in the story made me hesitant and wary. Yet there is so much beneath his raggedy ripped jacket and his constant stalking of Will.
I really cannot say more without giving too much away. All I will say is, if you are a fan of of a twisting turning horror story, the kind that puts your mind into overdrive then you might very well enjoy this.

He soon begins to be happy with who he is and embraces his uniqueness.
The words flow rhythmically across the pages and the bright illustrations almost look as if they are textured perhaps handcrafted, almost 3d we love them.
