And it turns out I really should have picked it up sooner, because this is such a delicious book.
I loved both Nya and Johan from the start. Nya has been sheltered in a bad way all her life, so she has trouble with opening up to others, while Johan is used to playing the bad boy prince to protect both his heart and the people he cares about.
I rooted for both of them to open up to each other, as they were such a perfect fit. The tension between them was so good. I kept reading to get to the satisfying conclusion of this romance.
If there's one thing I can say against this book it's that I had some trouble with the name of one of the minor characters: Arschlocher... Yeah... Anyone remotely familiar with the German language will probably raise an eyebrow at that name. How much more obvious do you want the name of an @hole to be? I wondered if his first name was Zak.
That aside I had lots of fun with this book, and I'll most definitely get my hands on the first book of the spin-off series Runaway Royals....more

I will confess it all went a bit too easily for Samantha in my opinion. She manages to keep her worst mistakes hidden from her employers (who are completely clueless btw...), hunky gardener immediately falls for her and helps her, she can cook like a chef after one day of lessons, etc...
I also did not like the implication that housekeepers usually are stupid foreigners, and can't speak English.
That aside this was an enjoyable read. Even without any real obstacles I liked reading how Samantha settled into her new life. Then she gets the opportunity to get back her old life. No surprises there either, even though I had hoped for a bit more nuance.
This won't be a keeper, but still a nice read if you're in the mood for something uncomplicated....more

That said: I love it with all my heart!
Joe has been through hell and there was only one thing that made him hold on: Ava and her music. Some may see Joe's obsession as stalkerish, I myself recognized so much in how Joe feels. I've had times that I felt really bad, and when there was just this one song, this one special book, or movie that kept my grounded, or that told me things would get better if I just held on. At the start of the book Ava is that one thing that kept Joe grounded, and then he meets her and gets to know the real Ava.
Ava is just as damaged as Joe, if in another way. She's been in the spotlights from a very young age and that has taken its toll. She made mistakes, trusted the wrong people, and feels trapped in the persona she has become. Joe is the first person in a long time who isn't hand picked to cater to what people think she needs.
The romance between these two isn't an easy one. Both have issues and traumas to work through before they can even think of being there for someone else. But seeing them try, seeing them open up, and realize there is a better future possible, is so beautiful. I rooted for them to break the chains that keep them shackled to their past and to grow and heal.
All in all this is a beautiful and emotional romance about two damaged people who find each other and learn how to heal and move on....more

Still... this book was written by Elizabeth Briggs and I love her Contemporary Romance books. So I decided to give this book a try.
And this turned out to be a fun and sexy read!
Allie gets dumped and with the help of her best friend moves in with three gorgeous guys. The way they are described and how they act made that I could understand why Allie drools over all three of them. And once the first kiss happens things turn hot and steamy fast!
What I really liked was that there were some chapters written from the point of view of the guys. Usually I don't like menage type stories, because I feel like one (or more) of the characters is missing out. Seeing inside the heads of the guys took that feeling away, and made that I actually could enjoy this Reverse Harem story.
Next to some really delicious scenes with Allie and her guys there is a more serious storyline about if they can make their unconventional relationship work. I had to keep reading to see how this romance would end, and was left feeling satisfied.
All in all I very much enjoyed this book and I will most definitely get hold of the next book Briggs writes....more

This is a lovely novella set around Valentine's Day.
The story was predictable, but fun. I liked the writing style and the characters. I can advice this book to anyone looking for a fun, uncomplicated romantic read.

It was not what I hoped it would be, but still a nice read. I will confess I disliked about half the characters in this book, but I kept reading because I wanted to see the characters I did like, get their happily ever after.

And it was.
I liked both Josh and Isla and could understand how the both of them felt. Their romance is sweet, but then stuff goes wrong and the story turned more angsty, but not in a bad way. Isla needs to think hard about what she wants to have a chance at her happily ever after.
If there's one thing I can say against this story it's the way Isla's best friend is used and discarded for the sake of the story. For me it really felt as if he was just a story hook instead of him really being Isla's best friend. I'd have liked to see more of their friendship instead of him being a prop in the romance between Isla and Josh. The same goes for Isla's sister Hattie.
That aside this is a nice romance and it's once again set in a boarding school, so I very much enjoyed this book. I think the first book will remain my favorite, but this one deserves a spot on my keeper shelves as well. I will keep an eye out for more books by Perkins....more

Katie is trying hard to make it big in London, but with her low paying job it's hard to get by. She is creative in showing the world a perfect life though. This is especially because her father never understood the attraction of London, so when she's fired she doesn't want to face an "Ï told you so" and so the lies and subterfuge get bigger.
Kinsella knows how to tell a story in a funny way, so that even cringe-worthy moments are fun. I was hooked from the start and was eager to see what Katie would do to keep others from finding out the truth about her life. Throw in a father who thinks up more getting rich schemes than he can handle, and a possible revenge on the woman who fired her and there wasn't a boring moment in this book.
All in all a fast and very entertaining read, just as I've come to expect from Kinsella....more

I must confess I wondered if this whole fascination with royalty is an American thing, or if having seen a lot of the Dutch royal family made me jaded, because I can't say meeting any royalty ever has been a fantasy of mine.
That being said:
This is a nice read.
I had to get used to the writing style and the way Mulry told the story, but after a few chapters I was enjoying myself, although it did keep me from really losing myself in the story. There were a few things that made me grumble, unnecessary Goth bashing being one of them, but two of them are very personal pet peeves so I won't go into those.
All in all an entertaining romance. I have book two in this series as well, and might give it a try one of these days....more

It's a novella so not a lot is happening, but it is a nice little extra to Bliss' story. There's lots of British ale, meddling family, miscommunication, and a happy end.

Cade felt more mature in this book and Max was a perfect fit for him. I very much enjoyed seeing the two of them connect and falling for each other. Max is not an easy character, but she was easy to relate to because of her issues. At some points in the book I feared Cade would be too soft and pliable for her, but luckily he managed to shape up when it was needed.
The tone of this book is a bit more serious than the first book, but there's still lots of fun and fluffy moments. All in all a very enjoyable read....more

Pepper thinks she knows what she's in for: she's going to let the playboy bartender give her lessons in making out, so she can impress the guy she's obsessed about since she was twelve. Little does she know Reece might look as gorgeous as she was told this playboy bartender looks, he's not the playboy bartender she was looking for.
I liked both Pepper and Reece. From the things you learn about Pepper you can really understand why she's so unreasonably obsessed over Hunter that she can't see a good thing when it's kissing her. Reece is intriguing as well, with secrets and troubles of his own.
There are some pretty steamy scenes between the two of them, as well as some really tender and sweet ones. I kept rooting for them to see how perfect they are for each other.

I might have mentioned before I often have a hard time connecting with the heroines in Contemporary Romance. So far I didn't have that problem in Briggs' books, but I had trouble connecting with Carla. Even with the problems she had in her past and the problems she has with her family, she just seemed too perfect for me. Successful model, car mechanic, every guys dream girl. Meh...
And Ryan didn't really impress me either: billionaire playboy, lusting after his best friend's little sister...
But although it took me some time to warm up to them, I very much enjoyed the story. Once again there's a reality TV show with challenges and competition. At the point where the TV show wasn't the focus of the story anymore I had warmed up enough to both Carla and Ryan to root for them and to look forward to their Happy End.
This being the last book in the series, there were a few glimpses at how the other couples were doing, and it was fun to read about that as well. All in all a very enjoyable read.
I will keep an eye out for other books by Elizabeth Briggs....more

I think Carmack did a great job on this story. It never got too embarrassing and even though it felt a bit unbelievable at times, it never felt too out of there for me.

Imagine my surprise when Marcia actually started to grow on me in this story.
Liking Marcia came slowly. but when it happened I was hooked. Marcia starts out as someone I didn't have much connection with: she's soft and too lost in her perfect plans to see the real world. But then she meets Damien and she is starting to open her eyes. I loved seeing Marcia's personal growth.
And Damien! *dreamy sigh*
There are just not enough Alternative/Goth heroes who are more than the bad boy who needs a good woman to settle down. Luckily Damien is one of those yummy few. I loved how he and Marcia were together. Their romance is hot, sexy and sweet.
Of course Marcia and Damien encounter some obstacles on their way to a happy end, but you can trust Jeffe to make those obstacles interesting, while you never have to fear they won't be overcome.

This book is yet another delicious read.
At first I was a bit hesitant to pick this one up. Becca was a difficult character in the previous books, and Andy somewhat bland.
I didn't need to fear though. Becca and Andy/Andrew together make sparks fly. Becca is trying to be the good girl her parents want her to be, but is failing miserably. then she meets Andrew again and things get interesting.
The chemistry between the two is great, and I loved how Andrew likes Becca's wilder side. I especially liked how it's shown that it's not Becca's lifestyle that made her fail, but that she as a person needed to grow. Andrew needs to grow as well and to get over past hurts. Together they manage to shake the dust from their troubled pasts and shape a better future.
All in all this is fun and very enjoyable romance with just enough obstacles to make you feel they earn their happily ever after.

Hector from More Than Comics is still my favorite hero so far, but Gavin is a really close second. I loved the interaction and chemistry between Julie and Gavin. Their romance is hot and full of delicious tension.
I loved the reality show set up in the first book, but wasn't a fan of the hero. Here I got the reality show set up again, this time with a hero I really rooted for. I was hooked from the start and only put the book down when I absolutely had to.
The story is really fun with all the fashion challenges, and there were some cool contestants as well. I like how Briggs doesn't make things an easy stroll for the hero and heroine in her books. I really was wondering how the show would end and how Julie and Gavin would get their Happy End with them competing.
Of course this is a romance so things do turn out well, but the journey to their HEA was a treat to read. I'm already looking forward to reading the next book in this series....more
