Barrons is Barrons because he told her that it is his name. The Priya is Mac because he told her that it is her name.
If you don’t know what a priya is, you have started reading the series from the wrong book. Start again, trying another book first.
When Mac and Barrons are having sex together finally, it will be fantastic but it will also be bitter. Because it is not a matter of a mutual decision or because they realize that they love each other. It will be mainly a matter of survival.
This is the book where all the major players of the series are finally brought together.
All the enemies, friends and lovers (hard to tell who is what still): Barrons and his team (yes, there are a lot like him), Ryodan, Mac, V’lane, Derek O'Bannion, Christian MacKeltar, Rowena, Dani, Kat, the three Unseelie Princes, a strange monster who will have a strange ending and who may be someone we know.
This is a fast paced, excellent written, smoothly executed, originality oozed book. Everything and everyone matter in this book.
Most of the scenes are worth mentioning. I am picking the most heartbreaking one:
He touches my face. There is something different in his touch. It feels like he’s saying good-bye, and I know a moment of panic. But my dream sky darkens and sleep’s moon fills the horizon. “Don’t leave me.” I thrash in the sheets. “I’m not, Mac.” I know I am dreaming then, because dreams are home to the absurd and what he says next is beyond absurd. “You’re leaving me, Rainbow Girl.”...more

-------------------------------------- Reread: 10/31/18 Is it just me that I want to wish wholeheartedly "Happy birthday Jericho Barrons!" every year this day? Or am I the weirdest fan of the series in GR?
---------------------------------------- First review:
31st of October. This book has the best and the most unforgettable birthday party. It is Halloween and it is Barron’s birthday. Mac appears to the bookstore with a big pink cake just for him. Surprise! Will he be happy and feel touched because someone remembered his birthday? I don’t think so… Barrons does not like birthdays. He does not celebrate birthdays. He does not like surprises. He does not like big pink cakes.
"Never do that again, Ms. Lane. Do not insult me with your silly rituals, and idiotic platitudes. Never try to humanize me. Don't think we're the same, you and I. We're not."
This All Hallows’ Eve will be memorable for the city of Dublin and for Earth in general. The walls between worlds are shattered and Mac loses herself. The book finishes with an epic cliffhanger and a seriously heartbreaking climax. Where was Barrons to save Mac? Where was V’lane?

Something else eThe most interesting character of the series is definitely Jericho Barrons. There is this mystery of -what is he exactly (Fae? Human? Something else entirely?), -what role does he play in the game (Is he bad?, Is he the enemy?, Will he help?) and -what he wants from Mac (To use her? To help her? To play with her before he eats her?)
So, what we learned about Barrons in this book:
HE IS EXTREMELY VOLATILE: “And yes, I trashed the bookstore when I couldn't find you. You'll have to choose a new bedroom, too.”
HE IS CRUDE WITH HIS EXPLANATIONS “I'm sorry your pretty little world got all screwed up, but everybody's does, and you go on. It's how you go on that defines you.” “I doubt he'll be a prince, Ms. Lane. Men rarely are.”
HE IS EXCEPTIONALLY POSSESSIVE AND PROTECTIVE: "And I am going to tattoo you, Ms. Lane, however and wherever I please.” “If I have to chain you to a fucking wall to protect you from your own stupidity, I will!"
HE REALLY DESIRES MAC: “I know you're the one with boobs! They're in my fucking face every fucking time I turn around!”
HE IS JEALOUS: "Nice tan, Ms. Lane. So, where the fuck have you been for the past month?”
HE ANTAGONIZES V'LANE: “I am not like any other player in this game and I will never be like V'lane.”
HE TRIES TO TEACH, WHEN MAC LETS HIM: “I told you, Ms. Lane, never believe anything is dead-" “One day you may kiss a man you can't breathe without, and find breath is of little consequence.”
HIS SPECIES IS UNKNOWN: “What are you Barrons?” “The one who will never let you die, and that's more, Ms Lane, than anyone in your life has been able to say to you. More than anyone else can do.”
The above characteristics will be noticed in the following books, too –TO THE EXTREME!...more
Another reread..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JERICHO BARRONS!!!

--------------- Reasons that made me love this book and made me read the whole series multiple times:
1. Jericho Barrons. 2. Naughty, sexy V'lane. The death-by-sex Fae. 3. Ireland and especially Dublin. 4. The world building. The Fae. The Seelie and Unseelie. I haven’t really decided which of them are the bad ones. 5. The pubs in Dublin where you can meet monsters. 6. BARRONS BOOKS & BAUBLES. The bookstore which stands between two worlds. I want to live there! 7. The rainbow outfit. 8. The Sinsar Dubh. Just the fact that A BOOK is the most powerful dangerous thing in the world, makes me happy. 9. Have I mentioned Barrons? He is the first paranormal guy that I have had a huge crush on (There were others after him, of course…sorry). 10. The writing style. I could not stop reading.
And there is this anticipation that something big is coming in the next books. Just count the signs.
This series is a perfect example of how an urban fantasy series should look like....more

Fifteen-year-old Clary Fray witnesses a murder at the Pandemonium Club in New York City. A boy is killed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and carried strange weapons. The problem is nobody believes her including her best friend, Simon. Nobody saw anything and there is no deadbody and no blood.
“Of course I can see you,” Clary said. “I’m not blind, you know.” “Oh, but you are,” said Jace, bending to pick up his knife. “You just don’t know it.”
And this is how Clary's world perspective changes for ever. She will be introduced to the world of Shadowhunters and demons.
Jace is the teenager who looks like an angel and kills like a professional assassin. He is cocky, he is sarcastic and he likes Clary. His two best friends are Isabelle and Alec (brother and sister) and he grew up as an orphan at their home.
“Those girls on the other side of the car are staring at you.” Jace assumed an air of mellow gratification. “Of course they are,” he said. “I am stunningly attractive.”
Jace will be fascinated with Clary and with the fact that she can see demons and Shadowhunters despite the fact that she is mundie, i.e. ignorant human.
“I may be a killer,” Jace said, “but I know what I am. Can you say the same?”
Or is she really a human?
The story becomes more complex. Clary has a life and memories that were hidden from her. Her mother hides things, then she disappears, then more demons appear. And vampires appear. And werewolves appear. And Warlocks appear. And witches appear.
“This is bad,” said Jace. “You said that before.” “It seemed worth repeating.”
And her true daddy appears. Who is NOT a nice guy.
I read this book for the first time about 5-6 years ago and then I stopped the series. I think the main reason was the terrible twist in the end when we learn that(view spoiler)[Jace and Clary are siblings(hide spoiler)],but later on I heard that in one of the next books we find out that(view spoiler)[they are not brother and sister. Halleluiah!(hide spoiler)] So, yes 2019 is definitely the year that I will finish this series!
P.S. By the way I think that the movie “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” showed this world exactly as I had imagined it. And I think Jamie Campbell Bower is an excellent Jace!...more
