My Thoughts - Story I requested this book through NetGalley without reading the first book in the series, so after I was approved for an ARC – I immediately had to purchase “Gambit” to start the story…and the whole time I was praying that I would like the story.
How excited I was when as soon as I started reading Gambit…I was hooked. I couldn’t put the book down and fell in love with Willow (well, I can’t say love cause she is a spoiled brat and ends up getting everyone in trouble). And….this didn’t stop in the second book either. She was just as bad – every time you would think she got the hint and was ready to grow up and do the right thing…she would fly off the handle and start making bad decisions.
I love the characters in this book – they all have been developed and are very easy to relate to. Commander Reece is perfect and he comes across as the silent brooding type. Just enough patience to put up with Willow – now that’s true love!
There are secrets everywhere in this book and I can’t wait to find them out in the next book in this series!

A bit slow starting up but as soon as the book finished with the back stories and world building...this was filled with never-ending action and to be honest...it did take me a bit to figure out the big plot twist. And the way it was revealed....I didn't see that happening.
I love when the main characters start out as enemies and the heroine having a snarky attitude! Cas was awesome as a protagonist!...more

OMG...I found another "top read of 2021" - This book was FANTASTIC and I was reminded of a LOTR but with a female protagonist. All of these different mystical figures coming together and the quest that our kind-hearted Dyna has put together.
I absolutely LOVED these characters and Dyna's interactions with her "guardians".... and don't get me started on the brooding, Cassiel! I'm itching for the next book in the series so I can find out more about the two of them...and will Zev get some "love interest" And even the second secondary characters, Von and Yavi, I want more of them and find out if they can be saved by the "good side".
August is too far away and I want the next book in the series ASAP!!A-M-A-Z-I-N-G...more

Wow...these fantasy books this week are on a roll! I don't think I have rated anything below a 4 Star yet. (oh, geez...did I just jinx myself?)
This was amazing and had me sneaking my kindle app on my phone behind my monitor at work so I can read all throughout the day since I couldn't put this down and just had to find out what was going to happen next with Ziva. And don't get me started on how realistic Ziva's character is with her social anxiety...she was so much more relatable then kick-ass heroines in fantasies.
The secondary characters make Ziva shine with their loyalty and love...between her sister, Temra, her protector (mercenary)(love interest), Kellyn and Petrik...this group gets in some tight binds, fights together, travels together, betrays each other, and so much more!!
Oh...and the ending? Do we really have to wait a year to find out what happens next??...more
Sooo...as I was searching around for a fantasy book to read, I found the 2nd installment of this series and had to investigate the first book4.5 Stars
Sooo...as I was searching around for a fantasy book to read, I found the 2nd installment of this series and had to investigate the first book. Whew...what a ride that was. And...get this, there was a point in this book that I actually started tearing up...yup...that doesn't happen often to me when reading fantasy.
I loved the characters!! Each one had their own special characteristic that resonated with me!
Emilia with being an outcast and a secret Lucian with his guilt and hatred toward fighting Ajax...ah...Ajax with always getting into trouble and only having one thing on his mind Vespir with her love of dragons and servitude
Oh...and then there is Hyperia...well, you will just have to read the story to find out about her!
Am I going to read the next book in the series? I'm not sure yet - I kind of got my HEA and sometimes when I go to read the next book in a series, I end up disappointed. Only time will tell!...more

Wow...I am on a roll with choosing books that captivate me...the downside of that is that I haven't been able to get any work done this week since I'm sneaking these stories during work hours!:-)
When I first started this and found out that it was an urban fantasy, I almost stopped reading it because it's out of my comfort-zone. Thank goodness that I stepped out and gave it a try because I instantly fell in love with Cassie and Orion. Cassie is a kick-ass heroine where Orion compliments her journey.
But that ending? Wowsers! I don't know how I feel about what is going to happen next. I am scared I'm going to end up disappointed with Cassie or Orion...what is going to happen next? And why isn't the next book listed so I can add it to my list? I don't want to forget and never get my answers!...more

Wow!! I'm still reeling that this is a debut author with how intricate the details and world building this book was! And don't get me started on the character development of Adraa and Jatin! The emotions, growth in maturity, secrets, and the relationship/partner/friend development was slow building and perfect.
I'm really blown away by Ms. Swift and her imagination and writing. I felt like I was there living beside Adraa and Jatin while they fought, spied, and fell in love!...more

This was the perfect book in my opinion especially if you know me and my dream to move to Alaska to open a coffee/book house. Just living all of Calla's misfortunes especially when it comes to Jonah was AMAZING!!
I love-love-love their chemistry and have to give a ton of kudos to Ms. Tucker on reaching every single one of my "feels". I cried, laughed, got pissed, and so much more!
I can't wait for the next book in the series to see how Calla is going to handle living there full time!...more

I also had to take stars off because I got so so pissed off at Jack and at Melanie. I know it's the angst that keeps me going but it still pisses me off when people do stupid things and are blind to what is right in front of them.
UGH! I hope in the next book, Jack and Melanie start to get some common sense!...more
