☆₊⋆ →thoughts┊My heart is on the floor somewhere bleeding after reading that last page. It actually fucking hurts to breathe. It’s like there’s a hole in my chest after being punched repeatedly by this book. That’s how much I love these characters. Please bear with me while I attempt to translate my emotions into words, because trying to convey how much this story means to me is not easy.

∘₊✧ ──Chills explode across my skin, and I swear all the blood rushes to my head at once, leaving me dizzy. He shudders, and I shiver, and it feels like what I imagine it’s like when a star collapses in on itself.── ✧₊∘
☆₊⋆ →characters┊There’s a whole lot of self-growth and self-discovery going on in this book, and it takes centre stage as the book spans across 19 years (approximately). This book details Mason and Jeremy’s journey as life throws them for a loop. Multiple times.Allthe time. Things get downright ugly. These characters goTHROUGHit. That is to say, they aren’t without their flaws. They’re not perfect. And that’s precisely why I love them so much, I think. Because they are authentic and multifaceted and honest andREAL.It allows me to relate to certain aspects of each character, in turn making me root for them so much harder.
∘₊✧ ──"Our stars are only ever meant to exist from opposite sides of the sun burning brightly forever between us."── ✧₊∘

⋆╰┈✩Jeremyis my sweet precious darling angel baby. I want to give him a big hug and tell him everything is going to be okayeventually. He goes through so much and he’s such a strong and resilient character. Reading about his growth and self-discovery, finding himself, was absolutely beautiful. Let’s just say I cried an excessive amount of tears over this boy.

∘₊✧ ──"I’m not Jeremy the Coward anymore. And if hope shall be my downfall… Then fall I will."── ✧₊∘
⋆╰┈✩Masontugged at my heart in a different kind way. His past plays an underlying role in the way he forms connections with others, and continues to influence his relationships, making it difficult for him to not react impulsively at the first sign of someone pulling away. I don’t want to spoil too much, I’d rather you read it in real-time and experience it for yourself. He’s so broken and loving and tries his hardest not to fuck up, but oh well. Mason still has some discovering to do, and I can’t wait to read about it in part 2.

You’re right there with the characters, rooting for them every step of they way, praying that they’ll make it through to the end. The author’s writing tears at my heart and speaks to my soul. That’s the only way I could describe it.
⋆╰┈✩ The thematic use of stars and fate and balance is woven so intricately into the storytelling. It’s such a beautiful way of pointing the reader in the right direction, letting you discover first-hand what was hidden behind the wordsstarsall along.

I’ve been so hesitant to pick this up because of certain aspects, and I’m glad I waited until I was ready to read this book because it completely consumed me. I could not put it down. Sure, in the beginning I was a little shell-shocked and uncertain as to where this story was going. I wasn’t sure if I could keep reading. But then it shifted, and I realized that this book was very different than what I’d initially expected.
“Only another monster can survive a monster.”
The last 20% had me in an absolute chokehold. Those scenes near the end? Yeah, let’s just say I’m excited for whatever Jessie Walker has in store for us.
“Because the moon doesn’t shine on dead girls. And we’ve been dead for a long, long time.”
The FMC goes THROUGH it. She’s strong. A surviver. I cannot wait to read more about these characters once the sequel is released. I’m dying to know how the FMC’s story will unfold. Until then, flock flock flock.

When I tell you I did not put this book down. I did not eat I did not sleep I JUST CONTINUED TO READ.
In the first half of the book, Violet and Xaden's relationship was a little boring, although I understand that the author had to keep it "angsty" for the storyline to continuously progress. Loved how it evolved in the second part though. However, the writing was so fucking cringe every time they fucked, like just shut up please.
I love Jesinia, she's my girl. Also, I am so happy about how Violet's mother turned out to be and her true intentions. Additionally, thank fuck Dain had some redeemable qualities because he was getting on my nerves in the beginning of this book.
I feel like Xaden is gonna die, there's too much foreshadowing to say otherwise. "You will be the death of me, Violet" is repeated so many times in both the first and second book. Also, that ending was...
ANYWAYS, I feel like the storyline kept me captivated throughout, I'm really excited to see how the story develops in the next instalment. There's still a lot we don't know, like why Violet's hair is silver (although I theorize it has something to do with the venin), what's her signet from Andarna, what exactly is Andarna and what is she capable of, what the fuck is gonna happen to Xaden now, etc.

It felt like their emotions were forced on by the authors to make the scenes emotional, but all it made me was fucking annoyed. They cry SO MUCH. They cry at every little inconvenience that isn’t even that big of a deal.
