One of the most influential literary works ever...in or out of comics. The fact that there have been calls to ban this book is truly beyond compression: when you look at all the negative influences that our children are exposed to every day - and some people are focused on this book? Can't help but believe Goebbels would be happy to join their group!

I would have never thought that a graphic novel would be appropriate for the horrors of the Holocaust had not a Jewish GR friend encouraged me to read this book.

It left me deeply impressed. I read Maus I and II borrowed from the library and purchased the Complete Maus right after because I want to read it again at some time.

Maus 1 and 2 are in a magnificent class of their own of graphic novels. Did you read the recent graphic novel of Anne Frank? Really well done! Same atmosphere as the Maus graphics in my opinion.
What about Tardi? Graphic novels about the horrors of WWI: C'était la guerre des tranchées (Casterman, 1993), ISBN 2-203-35905-6.
I did read the GN on Anne Frank Hanneke - a really excellent book! I really like Tardi - you are right Jan - he deserves a much wider readership here in America!
