Living on 'England's Green & Pleasant Land', amongst the gentle rolling hills of the Herefordshire Countryside, Rose's house is wall to wall books. She even has a 'leaning tower of paperbacks'.

Rose is a dreamer, preferring a simple & quiet life. Often spending time lone, although never lonely, being ever surrounded by great characters when lost in a good book. She loves theatre and the arts, adoring live performances on stage. Rose has very eclectic tastes.

Working as a school librarian, and sharing her love of books with the children was the best job she ever had. However, life moves on and another chapter was only a page turn away.

I am inspired by lots of books and also by the world around me.

Being a dreamer my mind is full of wonderment and it takes but a moment to jot any new ideas down. I try always to keep a little pocket book with me at all times. I also have a book by my bedside because my sleep time is often full of dreams and nightmares too.(less)

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Rose English My idea for the book I am currently writing came about a year or so ago. I was flicking through several books when I came across pictures of a Grandfa…moreMy idea for the book I am currently writing came about a year or so ago. I was flicking through several books when I came across pictures of a Grandfather Clock. I started to do a little research, then a little turned into a lot ( I kind of get carried away).

I was inquisitive to know when the Grandfather Clock got its name. The clocks were originally Longcase Clocks but it was not until 1876 when they began to be called Grandfather Clocks after 'Grandfathers Clock' was written by Henry Clay Work. He heard a wonderful story about a clock that stood in a Yorkshire hotel in the UK that stopped ticking when its owners died, or so it is believed. He was thus inspired to write the song which has been performed countless times.

First Verse

‘Grandfather’s Clock’ by Henry Clay Work 1876.

My grandfather's clock was too large for the shelf,
So it stood ninety years on the floor;
It was taller by half than the old man himself,
Though it weighed not a pennyweight more.
It was bought on the morn of the day that he was born,
And was always his treasure and pride;
But it stopp'd short-- never to go again--
When the old man died.

Very dark and overwhelmingly descriptive.

Sadly I did not finish this extremely compact dark tale. The imagery being so overwhelming. I felt nauseous the more pages I read. Not really my cuppa but it could well be up your street.
