This story is tightly tied to the time in which it is set, but all the more real because of it. The characters are well drawn, and I especially enjoyed the resolution. And yes, I did want to slap the husband.

A gripping fantasy novel. I was left wishing Bk 2 was already written. The author is particularly good at capturing the character of young males/teenage boys; she had me smiling widely at some of her descriptions as they were so apt. The monsters are ...more
