Writing, to me, isn't simply reporting events or feelings as they happened, but it is churning these things over in our minds to produce truths that can resonate with others. Being exposed to life's events isn't enough to take meaning out of it -- it is the reflection of these things that I think inspires writing.(less)

I thought of something when taking my dog to a small beach for the first time: the way in which dogs naturally swim.

He was a little hesitant about the tide, but when I went in with him, and lifted him into the water, he paddled his four feet enough to transport him back to the shore.
