I don't know what else to say other than to go order a copy right now, request that your library get a copy, and pray for the next book of the series to come out soon. I tried to savor this book and not read it too fast, but I did not succeed. It was so engaging that I couldn't put it down. The characters were well developed and I really enjoyed seeing those from Skelly's other series, The Wolves of Rock Falls, again. Again, the author showed friendships so well, bringing another layer into the story. My only critique is that some of the werewolf plot points were a little...iffy and confusing. With some things, it almost seems like the author boxed herself into a corner with some of the details from the Rock Falls series and now has to work around them. However, this was still a minor concern and didn't take away from the book since her characters are so strong. A note about the paperback: the art on the pages was such a surprise, but it looks so good.

Content: quite a bit of kissing and some suggestive comments (this book is best for older teens and up), death & violence
*I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts are my own and a positive review is not required. I did choose to buy a copy of the book after reading though.

I am coming to love him, in two different ways. Face to face, and word to word.
She had seen the fragility of life. How one could wake up to a sunrise and die by sunset. She had run through the smoke and the fire and the agony with Roman, his hand in hers. They had both tasted Death, brushed shoulders with it. They had scars on their skin and on their souls from that fractured moment, and now Iris saw more than she had seen before. She saw the light, but she also saw the shadows. Time was precious here.
October 2023: I know that 1,000s of others have said it, but that ending…wow. I will be reading the next book for sure. I really liked all the letters that were exchanged. They were well-written and really added to the story. It was difficult to get into this book until the 50% mark. I think it is because it was a lot more romance-focused than I was expecting. If that is what you’re going into this expecting, you will love this one.

Well, I finally finished with this one and it was a hot mess. First up, Juilliard level students don’t just drop their instruments on the floor. InstrWell, I finally finished with this one and it was a hot mess. First up, Juilliard level students don’t just drop their instruments on the floor. Instruments are not cheap and I can guarantee that they would take better care of them (saying this as a violinist myself). Dropping my instrument would be horrifying. Next up, why in the world are adults giving teens condemns because (and I quote) “you never know when you’ll need them”? Here is the part that I really don’t understand. Daisy believes that noticing her disability is ableist and so is not noticing her disability. Everything else is a microaggression but she won’t say anything because everyone should know and she shouldn’t have to explain why she didn’t appreciate ‘x’ comment. But here is the thing, in any relationship, people will offend and say things they don’t mean. You MUST communicate and explain to them what you didn’t like. You can’t just drop everyone who ever says something hurtful. This is real-life, not a fantasy dreamland.
