Hi Jody! I love your medieval romance series, especially the Lost Princesses and The Knights of Brethren! Is there any chance that you might be working on another medieval romance series?
Jody Hedlund Hi Cate, Thank you! I'm so happy to hear that you love my medieval romances! They are SO much fun to write, and I hope that I can make time to write more!

Is "The Lost Princesses" series a follow-up/sequel to "The Fairest Maidens" series?
Jody Hedlund Yes! Or you could say The Fairest Maidens is a prequel to The Lost Princesses. But both series are standalones and can be read in either order. They occur in the same story world but each have their own plots and characters.

Will Astrid get her own book in the Colorado Cowboys series?
Jody Hedlund Yes! Astrid gets her own book but it will be in a spin-off series, The Colorado Cowgirls, which releases over the summer of 2023.

Jody Hedlund Book 5, The Last Chance Cowboy, is Dylan McQuaid's story and is set to release Feb. of 2023. Hope you'll enjoy it!

Would you ever consider writing books set during WW2? It's my absolute favorite time period, and I'd love to see what you'd do with it!
Jody Hedlund At this time, I have no plans to write any WW2 books, simply because there are so many other great authors who have that time period covered and are experts at it.

Jody Hedlund YES! Book three is releasing in December of 2022.

Finally, I've noticed that in at least The Heart of a Cowboy and To Tame a Cowboy, you have not had Author's Notes. Why not?
Jody Hedlund With my Colorado Cowboy series, I decided not to include an author's note in any of the books as the stories are more fictional than any of my other series (and less inspired by real people or events).

Also, if I recall correctly, after I had finished A Cowboy for Keeps, I asked whether or not Astrid would get her own novel. I believe you replied yes, saying it would be in a different series. Will Flora also get her own novel, perhaps in the same series? And what about Logan? Will he at least continue to appear in other books of yours? (I've taken a bit of a liking to him. :-))
Jody Hedlund I do have plans for a new series that includes some of the minor characters in the Cowboy series. Astrid and Flora are both slated to have their own books. And Logan definitely gets a HEA! :-)

Oh. My. Goodness. I just finished To Tame a Cowboy, and my head is spinning! I will be posting a review soon, but for now, I wanted to ask some questions: First, Savannah being from Georgia and Brody having fought in the Civil War, I began to wonder... have you considered writing romances in the Old South (i.e., Gone-with-the-Wind-like novels with a happy ending and clean content)?
Jody Hedlund I haven't considered writing anything in the Old South, at least not yet! :-)

Some of the back of your books say you enjoy happily-ever-afters, but have you ever considered a bittersweet or mediocre ending? (I apologize if you've written one and I've missed it. I've read 18 of your books, but that's only half--I have lots more to see!)
Jody Hedlund Great question! For the romance genre, the majority of readers truly do expect a happily-ever-after ending. As an avid reader of romance myself, I not only expect a HEA, it's what I LOVE! Since, I'm writing the books I would love to read, I wouldn't ever be able to write anything but a HEA! I'm of the opinion that there are too many bittersweet and mediocre endings in real life. So with fiction, I want a book to inspire me and give me courage that I can be a better person. I hope readers feel the same with my novels!

Jody Hedlund The next book, Never Leave Me, releases in Jan. 2022. I have tentative plans for a third book, and will maybe write it if fans of the series really want me to! :-)

Will there be another (5th) bride ships book? I love the stories and how each "bride" has a different obstacle to face!
Jody Hedlund Hi Courtney, Unfortunately at this time I don't have plans to write a 5th book in that series. But I'm delighted to know that you've loved each of the brides' stories!

Jody Hedlund That's a GREAT question! Each of the McQuaid siblings gets their happily-ever-after in each of the five books. Once the series is done, I have plans to write another series, and as of right now, Astrid is first in line for her own story! :-)

I absolutely LOVED your Michigan Brides series! I especially loved the second book, A Noble Groom. I grew up not far from Forestville, and it was so amazing to read about places I've known all my life. These little podunk towns are places people never hear of. It was fascinating to imagine settlements, businesses, and families living on those lands during another time. THANK YOU for writing a story in this setting?
Jody Hedlund Oh yay! So glad you loved the Michigan Brides series and enjoyed reading more about the Thumb! The early settlement of Michigan is truly fascinating! :-)

What will your next series be?
Jody Hedlund Hi Savannah,
My next adult historical romance series after the Bride Ships is called "The Colorado Cowboys" and is a family saga set in Colorado (obviously!) and involves four brothers an one sister set in the 1860's. The first book releases in January of 2021.

My next medieval YA series releases this coming fall. It's called The Fairest Maidens and is a prequel trilogy to my Lost Princess series.

I adore your historical fiction for many reasons! Have you considered writing any modern fiction? Whatever you write, I'll read, just curious though :)
Jody Hedlund Hi Jennifair, Well you are in luck! I have a new series releasing next year that will involve a combination of modern and historical. Be on the lookout for it next summer!
