Rate this book
He's completely wrong for her. But their marriage may be exactly what she needs.

Professional bullrider Jason Keen is chasing a national title--and running from his mistakes. When his last sponsor threatens to pull their support unless he becomes the poster boy of a charming, family friendly cowboy, there is no way he can pull it off. Unless he can find another way to soften his rough-edged image while he works at Redemption Ranch between events…

Despite her family’s status as Colorado ranching royalty, Cassie Reynolds’ heart has been tied to the rodeo since her first event at the tender age of five. If her possessive ex-boyfriend would get the hint and leave her alone, she’d never leave her rodeo marketing job. Unfortunately, with each passing day, he’s growing more desperate to claim her.

When a week at home on Redemption Ranch is interrupted by the appearance of Cassie’s ex, Jason can’t stand by and let him terrorize the owner’s daughter. Could her unorthodox proposal be the solution to get them both through the holidays and the rodeo national finals?

Visit Redemption Ridge, Colorado and enjoy the faith, friendships, and forever-afters of the Christmas in Redemption Ridge series of Christian romance. This series is a spin-off continuation of the best-selling Heroes of Freedom Ridge Series with all new characters and traditions, but the same magic of community and romance readers love.

I truly enjoyed this modern day marriage of convenience story! It is the first book that I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more of her stories.

I appreciated that Jason and Cassie communicated with each other, both before and especially after, they were married. I liked that they had known each other for around fourteen years, when Jason first began working on Cassie's family ranch. However, they were more like acquaintances and Cassie was just a preteen when they first met.

This story had some other fun tropes within the marriage of convenience setting. There was a bit of an age gap between the main characters as well as a grumpy/sunshine vibe. But the story also delved into the important topic of abusive relationships, too.

This was just as good as I have come to expect from Tara Grace Ericson.
I really appreciated how the characters handled certain situations. They didn't wallow in the "s/he loves me, s/he loves me not" for too long before they admitted that they liked each other. They were clear in their communication with each other and there was no third act breakup (!).
There was a solid faith storyline throughout, which I really appreciated.
The only critque that I have is that a lot of scenes cut off when Jason and Cassie were having good conversations. This is a shorter book so I guess it makes sense, but I would have loved to see a few more scenes of them together, just having fun and/or working through issues.
This book was a solid start to the new series, and I can't wait to read the next books now.

"Marrying the Rancher's Daughter" by Tara Grace Ericson is a delightful tale that delves into some serious topics, too. You'll find that the hero, who comes off as rather gruff at first, has a softer side you'll love. And the so-called pampered princess? She's way more complex than you'd initially think. When these two get together, well, let's just say it's electric.

Ericson nails the marriage-of-convenience theme in a way that's both fresh and engaging.

I'm also contributing to this series—my book comes a bit later—I won't give a star rating to avoid any appearance of bias. That said, you really should check out this fantastic book. It sets the stage beautifully for what's to come in the series.

It’s always fun to kick off the Holiday season with a Christmas collection! This Christian Fiction romance is the first book in a brand new series featuring a new location, Redemption Ridge. I’m not sure if this setting can beat Freedom Ridge from the last series, but a new town means new characters and new stories!
This book features a grumpy hero names Jason and and a bubbly and bright heroine names Cassie. In general I’m always a fan of a grumpy hero. I don’t know why. There’s something about seeing a character soften their rough edges as the pages go by that really just gets me. Jason and Cassie really compliment each other and their chemistry kept drawing me in to the story. Marriage of convenience is such a popular trope that I think many readers will be pleased to see it in this story. Cassie and Jason really brought just what the other person needed to their relationship. I love a protective hero moment and Jason delivered on more than one occasion. This book has plenty of romance but also a few sprinkles of danger to really keep the reader on their toes! I loved a good happily ever after and it was absolutely fantastic to take a quick trip back to Freedom!

Marrying the Rancher’s Daughter by Tara Grace Ericson is the first book in the Christmas in Redemption Ridge series. I really enjoy this kind of series where different authors write in the same town. I enjoyed many of the stories from the previous series, Heroes of Freedom Ridge, so I’m hoping to eventually love Redemption Ridge as much as I loved Freedom Ridge!

This is a marriage of convenience
and grumpy/sunshine story. Jason and Cassie have really good chemistry together and I loved watching Cassie turn Jason a little less grumpy. Some of my favorite parts of this story were when they were really getting to know each another. Their marriage was good for both of them. I loved the Christmasy feels in this story, especially the barn dance and the Christmas shopping trip. I did feel like their declarations of love came about too quickly and sometimes Jason could be a tad too grumpy.

This story has something for everyone. There’s romance, danger, cowboys, and Christmas feels all rolled into one story.

I received a complimentary copy of this story. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is light. 3 stars.

Jason and Cassie’s story is heartwarming and captivating. He is a pro bullrider who needs to change his image into something much more approachable and charming before he loses his sponsors. His natural grumpy loner disposition doesn’t exactly endear him to rodeo fans or to sponsors who want him to interact more with the public. Despite his off-putting and often angry demeanor, Jason is a protector with a good heart. Although he doesn’t know her well, he steps in to help Cassie, the daughter of his boss, from her abusive ex who has become obsessed with getting her back. As part of rodeo marketing team, Cassie is often interacting with rodeo competitors, though Jason is under no illusions that they would ever date or be a couple, but he won’t stand by and let her get hurt either.

Cassie has been aware of Jason since he started working as a ranch hand on her father’s ranch years ago. She knows he is grumpy and doesn’t like to be the centre of attention, but she also knows he works hard and treats animals well. She is grateful for his help with her ex and when her ex persists in his efforts to reclaim her she comes up with a plan. Cassie tells Jason that they should get married, at least on paper. That would stop Travis’s efforts to get her back, (he only wants her for the money and position her family has), and it will help Jason improve his image before he tries out for the championship. At first he says no, then agrees to her plan. Neither is looking for love or expecting it, though both definitely feel attraction toward the other. With so many tangled emotions and doubts to deal with along with her now vengeful ex, Jason and Cassie don’t exactly settle into marriage bliss. Those sparks of attraction are getting hotter though, and both of them admit, at least to themselves, that their hearts are now involved too. Marrying each other could turn out to be the best thing for both of them.

This is the first book in a new series written by multiple authors. After reading this book, I can’t wait to read more about Redemption Ridge and the people who live there. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

I adored the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series so I was really excited to start the new series by some of the same authors. Marrying the Rancher’s Daughter is the first book in the multiple author series called, Christmas in Redemption Ridge.
Jason and Cassie were such interesting characters. They were such opposites but it was sweet to read about their interaction. Although they did not start off the “normal” way, they still really cared for each other. I loved both of these characters, they really drew me in.
Jason was more hardened by life and he wasn’t looking for love. It was cool to get to know Jason and understand him more. He was a bit of a more grumpy character but he genuinely cared for those around him. Jason had to learn to let others in, trusting God. Cassie was a sweet character. She was trying her best to prove herself and show her family that she could do well. Cassie had to learn to ask for help.
I liked reading about Jason and Cassie falling in love. They learned to trust each other as they fell in love. The story was also interesting and I was wondering how everything was going to work out. Jason needed to fix his image and Cassie needed protection from a possessive ex. The story was fun and believable, I also liked how it set the stage for the other books.
Marrying the Rancher’s Daughter was a wonderful book and I would definitely recommend it! I am so excited to read the other books in the series. Marrying the Rancher’s Daughter is a clean Christian romance.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

God had met Jason at rock bottom and lifted him out

Cassie and Jason's love story is fascinating. Cassie is the daughter of Barry and Connie who own Redemption Ranch in Redemption Ridge. She is also the Mountain State Marketing Coordinator for the National Cowboy's Association. Jason is a bull rider who works at the ranch when he's not bullriding. Jason tells about a "dark' period in his life having to do with a favorite teacher. His 8 seconds on a bull helps him forget. When he marries Cassie, she is his sunshine and his darkness is gone. She has an ex boyfriend who wants her back. He wants to be part owner of her father's ranch. When she marries Jason, his ex tries to kill Jason.
Her face was sunshine and joy and when she opened her arms to him, he wrapped her in an embrace that held every promise of forever he could give her. Then he lowered his lips to hers, trying to tell her with his kiss all the things he wished he could say with words. She'd unlocked joy for him.
He broke the contact of his lips on hers and cradled her to his chest. "I love you so much." "I love you, too."
The last year had helped him find his Redemption in the Lord. Cassie had helped him fully accept it.
Kissing his wife was more than chemistry and a racing pulse. She was peaceful and steadiness and joy. Cassie was home. He would never stop thanking the Lord for bringing them together.

Tara has written another fascinating book about being a bull rider, being the daughter of a ranch owner and of course, falling in love. It is book 1 in the new Christmas at Redemption Ridge Series. I recommend this book and all of Tara's books to everyone. I received this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.

Marrying The Rancher’s Daughter by Tara Grace Ericson is a Christian fiction romance. This fast paced, lovely book is the first in the Redemption Ridge Christmas series. If I hadn't been interrupted so much with life I would have read it in one day, but alas it took me 2. Tara did not disappoint as usual. Talk about a whirlwind cowboy romance. Since it’s in the title, it won’t shock you that I tell you they get married, but this isn’t the whole swoony we meet, date, fall in love story, although there are lots of swoony moments. This is a marriage of convenience or shall I say protection, and to be honest I’m not sure what I like better. I’d say marrying me to protect me has got to be a pretty romantic reason. If you want a super good looking, grumpy, bull riding cowboy who falls story, this is the book for you. Cassie has a past that haunts her and continues to haunt her throughout the book, which creates some pretty exciting, intense scenes. Her inward speech of doubts and feelings of being unworthy had me feeling like, girl, I for sure relate to this. As with all Tara’s books she is going to set her story and characters up to make you fall in love with them and be rooting for them, then she is going to point you to the truth. God is the truth and He will shine to bring together his Glory in all circumstances. I love that in the end it was their relationship that worked to bring them back to the reality that God is who heals and takes our pains away not another person or thing.

Marrying the Rancher's Daughter was so good!!! Like, talk about kicking off the release of the Christmas in Redemption Ridge series!! Seriously, Tara Grace Ericson just keeps getting better and better!! Oh, and you should definitely clear your schedule for this one since once you start it, you won't want to put it down (talking from experience. I finished it in less than 24 hours.)

I loved Cassie and Jason's story, and how it not only features a swoony and romantic marriage of convenience, but especially the need and importance of redemption. My heart definitely went out to both of them and their pasts (hers from an abusive relationship and his from some really dark and angry times), yet it was also beautiful to see their growth, their trust in the Lord (though I wouldn't be opposed to having more of this), and their helping each other. I was certainly swooning over this protective cowboy, and I loved their banter, interactions, and chemistry. Oh, and the kisses? So good and definitely worth the wait! It was also fascinating getting to see them in action in their careers since he's a bull rider and she works in marketing and social media campaigns. I loved the camaraderie between her family (especially with her brothers). It was also fun to be back in a small town for Christmas 😊🎄 and now I'm definitely looking forward and even more excited about the other books in this series. On to the next one! ~ 5 stars!

"Cassie! Do you know how this looks/ Like I'm some gold-digging rodeo cowboy who tricked you into marrying me so I can run Redemption Ranch? I don't want that. I'm not that guy."

Jason knows he has a rough reputation. And he doesn't care. After all, he rides bulls for a living. But when his boss's daughter faces trouble, he can't help but try to help. When she proposes an unconventional solution, he balks. Marry her? Um, no. Will he recognize that this marriage of convenience could actually turn into the real deal?

This trope fits in well with mail-order brides of long ago. Writing a convincing modern marriage of convenience story is harder to do. I think the author nailed it. The couple has plenty of chemistry but plenty of reasons to struggle. Family is one of the driving forces. And I definitely like how Jason stood up to Cassie's family, especially her dad, on her behalf.

I appreciated the clean aspects of this romance. It is not full of passion gone too far. Faith plays a prevalent role in the plot and in the characters' lives. The book made me laugh, but the chivalrous parts also made me tear up.

This book provides the perfect beginning to the new Christmas in Redemption Ridge series. I plan on reading more of these books. I appreciate the author providing me with an advanced copy. I would have read it later in December anyway. All opinions are my own.

This is a spin-off from the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series that I really enjoyed. This series takes place in Redemption Ridge.

Jason Keen is a bull rider who is just trying to make enough points from his rides to make it to the World Finals in Vegas at the end of the year. His rides are going well but his grumpy disposition is causing his last sponsor to consider pulling their sponsorship. When Cassie Reynolds, who he has known for years, is threatened by her ex-boyfriend, Jason steps up to provide protection.

Cassie has had a crush on Jason since she was 12 years old when he first came to her family's home, Redemption Ranch. Now, she is a grown woman and Jason would do anything to protect her. Even provide her with the safety of his name and protection, if she asks. He knows he isn't worthy of her, but it will keep her safe, he will do his best to take care of what is his.

This was a clean, romantic, sweet romance with some drama and suspense thrown in to round out a wonderful story.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

Marrying The Rancher's Daughter is a story that will pull at your heartstrings. Jason, a rodeo bull rider that also has worked on Redemption Ranch for Barry Reynolds since he was barely out of high school, runs interference at the rodeo for Cassie Reynolds when her ex boyfriend gets rough with her. Cassie is working for the marketing of the rodeo circuit. Jason has watched her grow up and knew he never would be good enough for her but that wouldn't stop him from protecting her. When Travis attacks her again the same weekend, Jason once again stops him this time comforting Cassie where she is so distraught over what's happening to her. She tells Jason she broke up with Travis but he just refuses to accept it. Cassie tells Jason that Travis has plans that he will do anything to get her back. Cassie has came up with a plan but, it will take Jason to make it work. Can she get Jason to agree to marry her before they leave for next weekend's rodeo?

We need more modern day marriage of convenience stories, and we need Tara Ericson to write them all. First of all, Ericson's heroes are some of my favorite. They are flawed and swoony all at the same time. And she always pairs them with the perfect leading lady. Jason and Cassie - chef's kiss right there.

This includes some great conversations between Jason and Cassie as well. Deep and meaningful ones, at least in my opinion. I'm glad Ericson did this because it just felt more real. Not just the - oh yeah he's swoony let's get together - kinda story. Know what I mean? This is why I like reading Ericson and everything she writes. She brings so much to each story.

Romance readers, you are in for a real treat! Be sure to catch the other stories coming this series as well. I know they will be a hit! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you liked Freedom Ridge, you will love Redemption Ridge

To the outside world, Jared Keen seems cold and unfeeling. So what does Ranch Royalty sweetheart Cassie Reynolds see in him, anyway? Answer: The real Jason Keen. While his reputation is a bit earned, it's not the whole picture. Jason is protective of those he cares about and loves them deeply. He's looking for Redemption for a multitude of things one in particular is not his fault, but he believes it is. Cassie is looking for safety and protection from her abusive ex-boyfriend, help Jason rebuild his reputation, and become a co-owner of the ranch one day. Will this marriage of convenience last and become something more? Will Jason and Cassie both find their own Redemption? Will Jason make amends with his family? Find out in "Marrying the Rancher's Daughter!"

Love, love, love!

I adore Marrying the Rancher's Daughter! Anytime I see a marriage of convenience story, I'm all about it. This book had the added benefit of a grumpy/sunshine plot and no third act breakup! Both Cassie and Jason came into the relationship with their share of insecurities but the plotline wasn't riddled with issues that could have been taken care of if they just talked to each other, which I greatly appreciated. The chemistry with the kisses was ah-mazing but of course this story remained clean, which is what I look for in romance novels. Good chemistry without pushing the boundaries. I'm excited to keep reading this series because I've read a few so far and even though they're each written by different authors, they've all been so good. Then I plan on going back and reading more of the Freedom Ridge books.

Wonderful beginning of a new series this one by Tara Grace Ericson.
Jason works at Redemption Ranch but is also a bull rider on the rodeo circuit. He’s trying to make it to the nationals and earn some sponsorships. He’s a loner and appears grumpy most of the time.
Cassie spends a lot of time on the rodeo circuit as part of the marketing team. She’s recently broken up with her boyfriend who became abusive. After he rescues her from her ex and when her truck breaks down alongside the road hours from home, she’s more determined than ever to help him with his sponsorships.
Cassie concocts a plan for them to get married to protect her from her ex and to help his image for his sponsors.

Great kick-off for this new series!

I love a good “marriage of convenience” story, and this one does not disappoint! Cassie is a charming heroine, stronger than her father believes she is. Although Jason initially has a gruff exterior, he proves to be a genuinely good guy and solid protector. They’ve both been at Redemption Ranch for years without much interaction, but God brings them together at just the right time. I love how well they complement each other!

This heartwarming story is the first book in a spin-off series from Heroes of Freedom Ridge, which is my all-time favorite multi-author series! Jason is a native of Freedom Ridge who came to Redemption Ranch for a job. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more books in this new series!

What a great story Tara Grace Ericson has given her readers. Had my emotions all in a twirl from the beginning. Well written plot with a well thought out Christian message. We see Jason and Cassie fall deeper in love as the story progresses. Jason’s return to his hometown, Freedom, was the icing on the Christmas Cake for me. Recommended to anyone who likes to read a clean and wholesome tale with a western rodeo flavour as well as ranch-style entertainment plus celebrating Christmas. Marrying the Rancher’s Daughter is the first book of six novels being written in collaboration with well known authors as Liwen Ho, Hannah Jo Abbott, Elle E Kay, Mandi Blake and Emily Conrad. Will look forward to reading these books as a great lead-up to Christmas in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Jason is not a people person to put it mildly and competing on the rodeo circuit he has managed to upset his sponsors. Cassie the daughter of his boss, works on the rodeo circuit but has a ex boyfriend who won't leave her alone and sees her future ranch inheritance as his and is getting increasingly aggressive in his determination to marry her. Jason steps in and helps her, more than once but the ex won't give up and Jason is fearful for Cassie's safety especially as she won't tell her parents. Cassie comes up with the plan to marry Jason, making her safe and fixing his reputation, which Jason reluctantly agrees too - not for his reputation but her safety. I really liked how they related to each other and enjoyed this story. I received an ARC but this review is my own.

excellent welcome to a new series

I admit when the amazing group of authors announced their Freedom Ridge series was ending and this series would replace it I I had my doubts about the change because everyone in Freedom felt like friends, not just a character in a book. Before I was a quarter of the way through this gem I was as firmly invested in Redemption as I was Freedom. The rodeo references were spot on as was the look into the media aspect of the rodeo circuit.

Jason is adorably grumpy and Cassie immediately struck me as someone you would love to have as a friend. She is adorably shy and geeky from way back when she first met Jason. Do yourself a favor and get a cup of hot chocolate then curl up with this little gem and take a mini vacation in Redemption.

Jason is a bull rider and also works at Redemption Ranch. He's a bit rough around the edges....struggling with some issues with his past. Cassie Reynold's family owns Redemption Ranch. She is ranching royalty and Jason is not at all good enough for her. When Cassie's ex begins to stalk her and threaten her, she asks Jason to marry her.

It's a bit unorthodox, but Jason agrees to marry her to keep her safe. Cassie realizes that Jason is more than a friend and helps him to heal from his past.

Very good book. Suspenseful, healing for Jason and Cassie, and fun banter with family. Great start to a new series!

Wow!!

I was pulled into the story right from the beginning (I was hooked). I live in a little town on the east coast. Our town has a rodeo event each year that is on the professional circuit. The rodeo atmosphere in Marrying the Ranchers Daughter, was exactly how it feels when attending the rodeo in our town. I loved the story of Jason and Cassie. It had me cheering them on, holding my breath as Jason rode the bulls, and my heart breaking for all that Cassie went through with the abuse, and how Jason stopped running from the Lord. I really liked how this series ties into the Heroes of Freedom Ridge.

This was an exciting series starter, that is a spinoff of the Freedom Ridge multi author series. At Redemption Ridge, we meet heartwarming characters and learn about the rodeo circuit. Having had the opportunity to attend a few live rodeos personally, it was fascinating to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes/advertising/sponsorship, etc. that are also a big part of what the cowboys and their families go through. Parent Guide: due to some situations of danger/peril, I would encourage you to preread this book before sharing with your older teens and above. I was able to read a copy of this book via Overdrive, but it did not in any way affect my review. All opinions are my own.

This is such a fantastic first book of this series. Cassie and Jason don’t appear that they would be a likely couple, he is a grumpy bull rider and ranch hand, she is a happy, sunny rancher’s daughter who does social media for the rodeo circuit. They have known of each other for more than 10 years but never talked much. This book is so well written, I Ioved everything about this story, the characters, the sweet romance, the redemption that was found, the suspense kept me reading on and I couldn’t put the book down until I finished, I highly recommend this book.

I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Cassie Reynolds is having trouble getting her former boyfriend to leave her alone. When professional bull rider and ranch hand for her father, Jason Keen, sees Cassie being attacked, he comes to her rescue. She decides the only way to stop him is to be married and asks Jason to marry her. He agrees, but that doesn’t stop their problems. A touching story about love, protection, and learning to accept help, and rely on God. A must read.

Marrying the Rancher's Daughter is the stunning start to a new, multi-author series!.In Ms. Ericson’s well written book, broody, antisocial Jason and bubbly Cassie settle into a mutually beneficial marriage of convenience. I loved seeing these two characters work on their respective issues. There is, of course, the requisite suspense to create even more tension. Of course, everything is beautifully resolved before the story ends. The book caught and held my attention from the beginning. I got nothing else done until I reached the end!
