Rate this book
This short workplace romance will leave you swooning and eager for more!

Maisie Hastings has an endless list of reasons to be annoyed with high-school-rival-turned-teaching-colleague Harry Latu. The after surprising each other at school late one Saturday night, she discovers his plans to build a rival school. It could threaten the viability of the small private school they've spent their careers in, and shoots to Reason #1 on her Why Harry Is Horrible list. But there's more to Harry's secret plan than she's given him credit for. and when their principal shows up, they both have reasons for not wanting to be discovered.

There's only one good excuse Maisie can improvise of why she'd be here late with Harry - and they'd better make it convincing.

It was a very quick and short read which I liked about the book. However, I didn't feel like I could immerse myself in the story or just see something. It felt very shallow to read and I just would have liked more. I can understand as it's a short book you can't tell as much and delve as deep into the story however I would have liked this with the book. That’s why it’s unfortunately only a 1⭐️ star read.

I love Jessica Kate and was happy to revisit my Christian fiction roots. This is a really short novella. This book introduces 2 main characters from her new book that’s out today!! There’s nothing much to say than both characters hate each other but share a kiss to cover their tracks. That’s it short and sweet. I am looking forward to the actual book and hope to get my hands on it soon!!!

I wasn’t ready for it to end so soon! Super cute short read. 3 chapters. But it was fun getting to see how Harry and Maisie interact together. The banter was cute. I also loved how they were honest with each other toward the end. Letting each other be vulnerable and speak what’s on their minds. Definitely looking forward to the release in February!

4 stars - read via Kindle (freebie)

This is a short story (prequel to a series) and I was left wanting to know more. So I guess that means it was effective! It was a too short for my liking though.

I’m interested to know where this story goes.

I needed a quick read on a road trip, so I thought I'd read this. I've read Jessica Kate before but it's been a while, so I was excited to read this short story.

I'm pretty sure this is the shortest romance story I've ever read, but I enjoyed it. Kate did a great job of setting the scene without making me feel bogged down in information. My only real issue with the story is that I wanted more! Much more of a teaser than a complete story, but still fun to read.

Rated PG.

This was a cute and quick read that acted as an excellent cleanser. After DNF'ing a couple of books, it was nice to finish this one in less than an hour.

I thought the writing was good and the story was cute, but I didn't know the characters well enough to believe their little "moment". From the way things were described, I felt like they barely knew each other and may have actually very much disliked each other. To be fair, enemies to lovers and contemporary romance are not my favorites, but I wanted to give the author a try.

See this review and more on my book review Substack: https://momsmusings.substack.com/i/14...

My rating would have been higher if it wasn't for the implications of what was happening with another couple in the book.

A short story like this is a good idea and a good way to find out if an author is a good fit!

A very quick read ... only 3 chapters (remember it's free) and a fun way to meet Maisie and Harry who will feature in a later story of Jessica Kate's new series. I appreciated that Harry is of Polynesian descent as we don't see this nationality in many Christian fiction stories. It's a first for me.

Jessica Kate writes very naturally and the connection between the 2 is easy on the read!

I'm looking forward to 'Drive Me Crazy' a full length story releasing in February. If you're not familiar with Jessica' Kate's writing this serves as a good little introduction and it's free!

A fabulous sneak peak at Amity Creek...

What a great introduction to Amity Creek where Jessica Kate's new book, "Drive You Crazy", is set. Loved the banter and chemistry between Harry and Maisie.

Looking forward to meeting Maisie's cousin and seeing how things go down in the full length novel next!

Maisie and Harry have one of the funniest, cutest interracial romance 🥰

Also; the fact that it’s a clean 🧼, age-approproate teacher romance (cough, cough, not pretty little liars) , makes it better!

CONFUSED!! Started this book & it was… 30 pages??? Um enemies to crushes (??) in a 30 minutes “scene” in a classroom on a Saturday night. Don’t know what the point of this was. Here I was thinking I was starting a new book and I finished it v fast. Weirdddd

Aww this was a cutie little novella! The male lead kept quoting Shakespeare, and he’s a big ex-rugby player so the mental image was delightful. Is there a full-length novel of the characters? Cos I’m intrigured

This story was very well-written and an enjoyable fast read. The characters and conflict are well developed. Because of its length, it did leave me wanting more, but that's not a bad thing.

The Rival Kiss was so cute! It's the perfect short read (3 chapters) yet with enough story to both leave you wanting more and be (somewhat) satisfied with where things are left. It's the perfect prequel for this new series by Jessica Kate, and I can't wait to get my hands on Justin's story! Seriously, Maisie and Harry are hilarious, total opposites, and with enough chemistry that made that kiss worth the wait. Oh, and the banter? So good! Also, a hero with an Aussie accent who quotes Shakespeare? What's not to love? Go grab your copy! You won't regret it! ~ 5 stars
