Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Completed Red Glass Red Glass by Laura Resau byLaura Resau 7/3/2012.

I like this coming of age story about a sixteen year old girl in Tuscon. She travels to Mexico and Guatemala with an illegal immigrant boy whose family died trying to cross to the US. Other characters make the trip as well. She learns to be strong and believe in herself and the joy of life. It is a beautifully written book, and I enjoyed it.

I am not sure. I just kind of started that way. You can tell I am a structured person, can't you? LOL

I have a blue one I am dying to read, but I wanted to get some of the reds out of the way. Guess I'll loosen up, go a little wild, and read my blue!! : )

I am enjoying this challenge because I feel like I am just challenging myself and not competing with anyone else. I always prefer to challenge myself!

Will you please look at this book and tell me if it is ok for the yellow task? I was looking at the girl's skin as a yellowish color, but I don't know what you think. I realize there is a good bit of yellow in the flowers and the box on the cover, but is that ok? It is on my original line up of books. If you didn't comment on books in the line up, does that mean they are ok to read? Sorry, but this is my first challenge with this group. : )

Thanks for checking it out for me! I really want to read this book! : )

Janice (jamasc) | 56953 comments When I look at the cover, it doesn't say, "yellow" to me. Yes, it has yellow, but I wouldn't say that it's predominantly yellow. I own this book, and haven't read it yet, and didn't even consider it for my own challenge.

I think you have other books on your line up that are more yellow.

I don't look too closely at people's line-ups and usually only comment if it's obvious, or if I've been asked. You have a lot of books on your list and you have "possible", so I only gave it a cursory glance.

There are a couple that I'm not too sure about. There are some that are not predominantly the colourstated . And one that is orange that is under yellow. You may want to review your list now that you know what I'm looking for. Predominate is the key word.

I understand. Thank you so very much for clarifying this for me. I'll just read this for my own pleasure. You are so kind to take time to help me. I hope I get the hang of it soon. Please let me know if I mess up, which I am likely to do! LOLThe Private Papers of Eastern Jewel The Private Papers of Eastern Jewel by Maureen Lindley Oh yes, is this the one I have as yellow that looks more orange? I'll change it if it is the one.

I did enjoy reading the book. However, it is so very sad to watch a woman of staggering intellect lose her ability to read and comprehend and even enjoy movies. Then to see her progress to the point of not knowing her daughters' names at the very end was heartbreaking. When she called them the actress and the mother, I almost cried. John's heartbreak had to be unbelievable when he discovered that the trials of the drug Alice was taking was not effective in combating Alzheimer's disease. He had to wonder if what he had recommended for her would have had a different outcome. The only hopeful note in the book was the love of family. It is such a cruel disease.
Did you like the book?

This is a book that has been on my tbr shelf for several months, and I don't know why I never got around to it. It is a really good book set in the South during the Civil War when women had no rights. It was frightening what a husband could legally do to his wife if she crossed him.
