it was ok

I was given this to read and told it was great.

I didn't dislike this book but i didn't like it either and probs wont recommend it to anyone.
I was very aware Jodi Picoult was a holiday read / picture perfect author as I have read one of her books a few years ago.

I liked following the trial in this book but a few things annoyed me.

Mostly the ending.....what the hell was that? It was literally as if she couldn't care less at the end and wanted to finish things and never even gave a conclusion as to what happened to Jacob which was rubbish since the entire book was about his side of the story. I was really really let down with the ending. Maybe she done it to leave things open and people can make up their own minds. I am not a fan of this at all.

It never told you Theo's side of the story either which annoyed me too.
I hated most of the characters apart from Oliver.

And it annoyed me that throughout the entire book when Jacob had been accused that no one at all asked him straight out what happened that night. If I was his mother i would have shook him until the truth came out rather than making up things in my head and going over other facts like she and other characters did.

I was going to give this book 3 stars but I am taking one off purely because the ending was honestly that awful. I thought I was missing part of the book!

Aside from all the negative points the book did keep me reading and I didn't feel pushed to finish it.

Paul I've just finished this book and I TOTALLY agree with you about the ending! I even went back a bit and re-read, thinking I must have missed something.
