I read this book as a part of a coaching certification program I am in that was created by the author of this book. I found it to be extremely complementary to the program -- full of ideas that I can immediately implement with clients. It is divided into the six dimensions of the Self as Coach model, each of which looks at self as coach in a different way. My favorite part was the questions sprinkled throughout that I can use as a coach before/after coaching sessions. I will undoubtedly be referencing back to this book.
Interestingly, some of the ideas presented in the book were ones I have been introduced to by leaders I look up to professionally. Perhaps not surprising:)
I also appreciated that this book was relatively brief. She didn't overstate her points.

This may be the most important book I have read on what really matters in transformational leadership development. Its deep insights go to the heart of what really matters to becoming an evolved coach, leader, and human being---transforming self. Pam McLean manages to condense a vast array of wisdom into a book that is very accessible. As we embark on the digital era in the coming decades, we need to become more resilient. This is the book I will be recommending that addresses courage, empathy and systems.

This is a fantastic read for anyone interested in becoming a coach, already is a coach, or is coaching people informally through an existing relationship. The author explains how we as coaches need to do the internal work first if we aspire to greatness as a coach. By looking internally and understanding our own journey, we are able to hold space and connect with our clients a a deep level, fostering the changes they wish to develop. Read this book. Do the exercises. Then go back and read it again.

This book really inspired me. It raised my perspective on coaching to a higher level, making it feel much deeper and more personally meaningful. I found it very valuable to see examples coaching conversations, how different coaches approach issues differently, and breakdowns of the pros and cons of the various approaches.

As an Executive coach, this book served as a good reminder to keep investing in my own professional development. While nothing in this book was new, it was useful to read about how our own deeper understanding of the self translates into being a more present and accessible coach to clients.
