Despite some positive aspects like a solid depiction of kink, consent, and safety, this erotic romance novel left much to be desired. The characters were largely unimpressive, with the protagonist Diana being particularly unremarkable and often displaying problematic attitudes. The writing quality was subpar, riddled with grammatical issues and cringeworthy dialogue. Additionally, the inconsistent use of British English in an American setting was jarring.
The plot was lackluster, making it a chore to get through each page. This experience reinforced my general dislike for the erotic romance genre, which often sacrifices deeper plot and relationship development for repetitive spicy scenes.
While there were a few redeeming qualities, such as the adorable Azreal and sweet Scott, overall the book's flaws in character development, writing style, and plot progression made it an unsatisfying read....more

I really enjoyed this one. There was a lot of culture I wasn't expecting, but was happy to see it! I was a little confused during the random nazi chapter but considering my own heritage I didn't mind it much. I just wish that there was a little more development to the main pairing before they got together. Some parts felt quite rushed and it took me out of the story, but for the most part, it was a great start to the series!...more

Suicide by Computation is a collection of dark sci-fi shorts by the wickedly talented Chris Godber. While listening to the audio version of the stories, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself lost in the grimdark sci-fi world of each short, which often reminded me of a mix between Inception and Event Horizon's-like dystopian hells. It's clear that the author really had a lot of passion behind his ideas and it really shows in his work.
The only issue I had with this was the audio version had some music that would occasionally cut over the narrator, and no matter how many times I rewind it, I'll never know what I missed there, so it broke the immersion on a few times. If another audio version was ever released or as far as the text version goes I would give the story itself a 4.5/5 and the audio version in general a 4/5. Very enjoyable read and would happily listen again!...more

Firstly, I really enjoyed the concepts in this. I have a soft spot for shapeshifting lore and I'm not too familiar with Chinese mythology (I've studied Roman, Aztec, and Mayan religions/cultures/lore) so this was a unique read that I got pretty invested in. The only problem is I'm not a huge Urban Fantasy fan, still gave it a shot and enjoyed, but I've watched/read so many that the genre seems to have so many overlapping tropes that it can get a little stale. Still, like said, very enjoyable read, and I liked getting to know the characters and seeing them develop over the story....more

There was a lot that caught me off guard even though I'm one of those that usually picks up on plot twists a mile away, but I won't spoil it for those that haven't read it. The only thing I could really say about this book was there were some stretches that just lost me interest wise and I had a hard time getting to the next scene, but I'm glad I stuck through to the very end....more
