I don't think this is a bad book; however, I had some major problems with it. The main issue I had was the voice. I could easily picture an adult trying to 'think' like a teenager. The author voice definitely overpowered character voice, which made almost all the characters sound the same. I found it really hard to get into the story because of that, and I kept putting the book down.
I also felt like the writing style attracted too much attention to itself. I'm not a huge fan of purple prose so this made it even harder for me to connect with the story.
A lot of people really enjoyed this book and I can totally see why. The premise is really cool and some of the themes it dealt with such as grief, religion, and identity resonated with a lot of readers. I would still recommend this book, even though I did not enjoy it myself, I feel like other people might.

First of all, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who recommended this series to me. I never would have picked it up on my own. I’m usually not a huge fan of sci-fi but I think it’s starting to grow on me now.
What a crazy journey. I have to say, Morning Star was a good ending to a great series. The first book was definitely my favorite one but the other two were still really good. If you haven’t read this series yet. Go pick it up right now. It’s so addictive, you won’t be able to put it down.
“I would have lived in peace but my enemies brought war to me.”
While I was reading this trilogy, I kept messaging my friendFrankie Lovelywhenever I had a crazy thought or theory because she had already read the series. Here are some of them: [image] [image]

It was necessary. It moved the plot forward. I get it. BUT THEN(view spoiler)[ Ragnar dies as well. YOU CANNOT KILL TWO TEDDY BEAR CHARACTERS IN ONE SERIES. THOSE ARE THE RULES!(hide spoiler)]

I don't think I can come up with a review that could possibly live up to the awesomeness of this book, so I'm just going to give youfivereasons why youneedthis book in your life:
1.The dry humour. This book had me loling every other page, I kid you not. 2.AIDAN.The Artificial Intelligence gone crazy, trust me, you want to see that. 3.The creativity.I'm used to seeing creativity in a book's content but this is the first time I see creativity in the format of the book as well. It is told in such an interesting way, and it's definitely unlike anything I've ever read before. 4.AIDAN. 5.AIDAN. [image]

If I could describe this graphic novel in one word it would be "weird" but the good kind of weird. THE FANTASTIC KIND OF WIERD! I'm usually not a big fan of sci-fi at all but I kept hearing great things about this series so I decided to pick it up and I don't regret it one bit.
Forgive me if I don't take relationship advice from a dead teenager missing her vagina.
[image] It has some of the most hilarious lines ever. I laughed out loud several times while reading it which doesn't happen very often for me.
The plot: The story at its core isn't that bizarre when you think about it. Two star crossed lovers from opposing armies are on the run from both sides with their new born child. But when you add a huge lying cat, a bunch of kid ghosts and people with TV heads... that's when it gets crazy.
The characters: I liked all of them! I'm not even sure if I'm rooting for the the couple or for the thug who's been hired to kill them. [image]
Overall, this was a true masterpiece of both art and literature. It cracked me up and it kept me on the edge of my seat. What more could you ask for in a book?

-----------------------
So I basically read this book only because I heard so many great things about the tv show. I didn’t hate it, it was definitely a good story but I didn’t love it either, mainly because of the writing style.
The ones I hated:
Wells: [image] The stupidest idiot I’ve ever read about. He took some very questionable decisions throughout this novel. « But Wells knew there was no other way. To save the girl he loved, he’d have to endanger the entire human race. » Seriously, Wells?
Clarke: [image] Not my favorite main character, even though there was nothing really wrong with her but I just couldn’t connect with her or relate to her at all. Needless to say that the love triangle didn’t help.
The ones I liked:
Bellamy & Octavia: [image] I actually loved their story line especially all the flashbacks about their past and everything they’ve been through to keep Octavia alive.
Glass: My favorite storyline. For some reason I can’t find any picture of her from the tv show. Please don’t tell me she’s not in it! Her whole story was just so interesting and heart breaking at the same time. I won’t go into details because of spoilers, but I will say that the chapters from her POV saved this book for me.
Ships?
I didn’t ship anyone with Clarke. There, I said it. She was just jumping back and forth between two guys (Bellamy and Wells), which is a huge turn off for me. [image]...more

When I first read the blurb of this book I just thought AMAZING. Some books you just know for sure that you'll enjoy them merely because of the premise.
I have to say I wasn't disappointed with this book, even though I feel like it wasn't as good as it could've been but still, I had a great time reading it! Let me tell you a little more about the story:
Ivy is the daughter of the founder (the losing side) of their community, and as a tradition, she's part of the many teenagers who must marry the boys of the other side in order to maintain peace. Because Ivy is special, the guy she's marrying is pretty special too. Its none other than the son's president, Bishop. Ivy doesn't care all about that because she only have one mission. And that's to kill Bishop, which should be easy because her father and sister have been filling her with hate for the president and his son for as long as she could remember. But when Bishop turns out to be the sweetest guy ever, it complicated things a bit for Ivy. [image]
One of the things I loved most about this book was that it made you think both morally and politically. I asked myself many times what would I have done if I were in her shoes. The line is thin between what's wrong and what's right in this novel and that's what made it so believable I think.
I thought I'd throw in some of my favorite quotes:
“You’re easy to read, Ivy, but the whole book of you is complicated.”
“He didn’t save me, though. He allowed me the freedom to save myself, which is the very best type of rescue.”
“But I want to be better than the lessons they taught me. I want my love to be greater that my hate, my mercy to be stronger than my vengeance.”
“Is it still manipulation if you know it's happening, but it works anyway?”
“Life is one sick joke after another, I'm discovering. Because it hardly seems fair that it should hurt so much to finally get exactly what I've been wishing for.”
So this was not your typical YA book where the protagonist becomes a love sick puppy when she meets the love interest. No, Ivy HATED Bishop. [image]
What if you spend your whole life hating someone but then relize they dont deserve your hate? What if your hate was misplaced?
“Is this who I am? A girl who will do anything for her family? A girl who will sacrifice an innocent boy to prove she’s not soft? I don’t know. I don’t know anything anymore.”
Let's talk about the Ivy/Bishop relationship for a moment. So these two characters were both extremely likable. I felt like they completed each other and were a great match. The romance developed slowly which made it justified and believable. It wasn't like one moment Ivy hated him and the next she was head over heals in love with him. I have to admit though, the whole time I was reading their kissing scenes I was like: [image]
DAT ENDING DOE! I need to stop reading books with cliffhangers when the next book is not out yet because it's driving me crazy!
Overall I think that more people should read this book. In my opinion, it could appeal to a large variety of readers.
