Just a life. Take what happiness you can. Hold tight to it.” oh my goodness! Why did I love this book SO FREAKING MUCH?!?!?! This was amazing! This is officially book two of my spooky season reads and I was not disappointed! (jeez, I keep saying that for all of the books haha. I truly loved this book! It was read in Cas's perspective. A GUYS perspective! It was amazing! We never get an YA books that aren't in the perspective of a female protagonist. It was very refreshing! I loved Cas hehe. He is (once again) the dark haired, broken, male character that we all need. I do wish we got a little bit more of his background story though. Or the story started when he had the sickness or something like that because I felt like those details were mentioned but I kind of forgot about it/it didn't seem that important to me. ALSO! his power to see the dead? Why didn't the author do more with that?!?! I thought that he would summon up an army of the dead or something like Aragorn does haha. Anyways, those were my few complaints but other than that, I freaking loved this book. I listened to this book solely while I was grocery shopping and walking to class and it made those boring tasks ever more enjoyable. I couldn't help myself by smiling A LOT when I was walking to and from class and it was amazing! Ifeltfor Cas and I just wanted to give him a big hug or something. I thought that Lena was an AMAZING love interest/protagonist. I loved their banter and how she was one of the only ones who called him Cas and I just loved them so much! I feel like there wasn't a LOT of plot in this story, it just started to pick up towards the end, but honestly, I wasn't bored throughout the story! I was invested even when they were just hanging around Cas's house and everything. ALSO, I didn't really expect the plot twist(?) very much! I was actually surprised and thought that it would be something totally different! Ahhh I am so glad that I sneaked this fairy loot edition (it is SO beautiful) out of Lizzie's throw away pile when I did! I do not regret that decision and I am so glad that I was able to add this to my sPoOkY reads! Have a wonderful thursday!:) ...more |

~4.4~ "Friend John." I read this book for the October Hutchings Bookclub! WOOHOO! I actually very much liked this book! It was wayyyy better than I ~4.4~ "Friend John." I read this book for the October Hutchings Bookclub! WOOHOO! I actually very much liked this book! It was wayyyy better than I thought it would be. It was full of adventure, mystery, spookiness, and some kind of romance haha If Pirate of the Caribbean 2 was a movie about vampires: Dracula would be it. [image] I am not wrong. Anyways, I didn't really know what to expect when starting this book but I actually enjoyed it. I felt like I was invested in the characters and that I felt for them. I loved Lucy, Johnathan, John, Mina and OF COURSE Van Helsing. I always wanted to know the origin of our beloved Van Helsing. Friend John. I thought Dracula, the vampire, was very interesting and creepy. Especially when we were introduced to him. I would probably not do so well if I was in Johnathan's shoes at the beginning. But it was kind of hard to picture Dracula to be really creepy when this: [image] But it got dark real fast and I was able to picture a moreNosferatu-esquecharacter. This is my first book that I have finished in thisspookyseason and I am not upset about that. I thought that this book is an AMAZING introduction to spookiness and honestly, I think that people should read this book! I know it took me a while to read it....it tis because I am a busy cOlLeGE sTUdENt and I don't have a lot of time, so I would solely listen to the book going to and from class...and honestly, the fact that this book is like 13 hours, I am shocked it didn't take me longer to finish. I feel ALL the Halloween vibes and who knows? I might be a vampire or VAN HELSING for Halloween now...except for nobody would know who he is sadly. I would be a pretty legendary vampire hunter though...not gonna lie. I mean...JUST LOOK AT ME: [image] I don't really have much more to say on this book...I was just very pleasantly surprised. Well done Bram Stoker. Well done. I shall just end with this nice scene from SpongeBob that remind me of this book (from the glorious AT NIGHT episode): *squidward* "WAITTT if that was you on the phone and you on the bus, then whoooo was flickering the lights?" *cue lights flickering one and off* "NOSSSFERRATUUUU" [image] :) ...more |

Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” I hath finished this book. Let me tell you a story. This all started on Saturday (three days ago). Imagine little Whitney just hanging out with her friends and dear sister lizzie at a nice day at Lagoon WHEN she gets a text. A text that will change her life for the nest three days. It is a poll of when to meet for the Hutchings Bookclub. The original meeting was supposed to be tomorrow BUT NOOO. The option was between today and next tuesday. Of course, me, not very far in the book, wanted next thursday. But.........unfortunately today won by one vote. SOOOO little Whitney has dedicated her past three days reading this book (but is was mostly Sunday and today). WHITNEY HAS BEEN DEDICATED. Anyways, I had no idea what this book was about, but I thought it was a love story. But it wasn't...SO I was a little shooketh when Heathcliff was a freaking JERK. my HEAVENS. Anyways, there really isn't THAT much to this review but I did (im pretty sure) fall asleep for the last chapter, but I did read the spark notes...so I have a pretty good gist on what happened. That's another thing. I have absolutely no idea what was happening in this book until chapter 16. when ON SATURDAY waiting in the line for a ride, I had lovely Lizzie give me a summary. SO I FINALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS GOING ON! But I still did end up having to spark note every chapter. BUT there was an actual story, so that was nice because I felt like I could be invested in most of the characters and I also think that books like these (classics) have no story (just like A Tale of Two Cities) but it didm so I'm glad about that! Well, the bookclub meeting is tonight, so we shall see how it goes because my dad loves this book and my uncles HATE this book soooo IT SHALL BE Interesting! I'll maybe let you know how it goes! good night and good luck *american heritage reference haha* ...more |

First, I am already two books behind schedule and that is not okay Second, I've been having a very rough month and I needed some joy and Rev in my life Three, I feel like I haven't read a book in freaking forever, and this was the perfect one. I am currently reading the beast that isAnna Kareninaand it is taking quite a toll on me and my reading life, so I just needed a little bit of a break to read something that I knew I could finish really fast. This book is freaking amazing and the ending will never cease to amaze me. I love Rev with all my freaking heart and I am so glad that he found someone! iajr guaeroguhaerog I love love love this book! <3 ~original review on August 19th~ oh my FREAKING heavens *I think I had a heart attack moments ago (I feel like I had to keep my original review haha) ~5.0~ (long quote because I LOVE IT SO MUCH) "'Hey.' Dec blows past him, too, and comes around the row of cabinets to face me. His expression is fierce. His jaw is swollen and bruised. I clocked him good. I wince. I have no idea what to say. 'Do you want to hit me back? You can.' 'No, I don't want to hit you back, you idiot. I've sent you like third texts. Are you okay?' My eyebrows go up. "You're asking ifI'mokay?' 'Yes.' It's like the moment I realized Dad wasn't going to let me chase him out of my room. I want to crumple on the floor. 'No,' I say. 'I'm not.' 'Then come on.' I don't move. My head is spinning. 'Where are we going?' 'Downstairs. Get your gloves. If you need to throw punches, let's find something better than my face.' " AERGIAHERPGIHAEPRIGAERP. Brigid Kemmerer. MAAM. WhY wOuLd yOu dO tHiS tO mY PoOr LitTlE SoUL??? I was put through so much while reading this book it isn't even funny. I definitely cried, definitely got so happy I couldn't return my eyes to the page, definitely gasped out loud at some points and definitely laughed out loud. My goodness. I have officially been deceased. But then I'm thinking right now: Oh JUST you wait Whitney. Wait for the next one. How HOW can she keep writing books like this??? This is definitely my favorite book out of the three and I have had the urge *MANY* times to read it again. Declan is in this book as much as Rev was in the last book and it is truly glorious. I wasn't quite done with Dec and I was DEFINITELY not done with Rev. So it was perfect. Let's talk about Emma for a little bit. She was the equivalent to Juliet in this book and honestly, I liked Juliet better HOWEVER, Emma 100% grew on me throughout the book. She was a little dramatic but I WAS SHOOKETH BY THE END. IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW. Oh my word. I gotta say, this book took aTURNand I was not disappointed. Honestly, I was SHOOK. I couldn't believe my eyes. I can't remember but I either called Lizzie or talked to her in person but I was like "DID THAT SERIOUSLY JUST HAPPEN??" and Lizzie was like "UM I KNOW YES IT DID" I think I was crying at the end of this book*?* I know I Marco Poloed Angelina and I was not okay. I couldn't breath for the last thirty pages of the book and I was not breathing by the end. I had to just sit there and remember how to breath. This book is more *steamy* (but like not by much) than the last one and I was here for it. I closed this book and I wanted MORE. Like 410 pages wasn't enough. IT WASN'T. And I was actually really sad when the next book wasn't about anyone that had been in the last two books. Ugh okay. I have one more review to write in like five minutes, I just get so into them haha, so I must good. BUT OHHHHHHHHH MY WORD. Nope, this book has officially destroyed me. Have a WONDERFUL tuesday! ...more |

~4.4~ “I wasn't aware that words could hold so much. I didn't know a sentence could be so full.” HUTCHINGS BOOK CLUB AUGUST 2022 BOOK I honestly had ~4.4~ “I wasn't aware that words could hold so much. I didn't know a sentence could be so full.” HUTCHINGS BOOK CLUB AUGUST 2022 BOOK I honestly had no idea what to expect as I was going into this book. I just knew that it was about the marsh, there was a movie about it, and that Angelina didn't really like it and Mallory loved it haha. I was actually very pleasantly surprised. I rated it 4.4 stars because I thought for a while that this would be five stars but the more I thought about it, the more I realized, that it just didn'tquitemake it up to my five star list. Anyways, this book was gut-punching, especially the beginning. I was like, bro. What the heck!?!??! her whole family LEFT HER? jeez, savage. I don't really like the outdoors, especiallya muddy, wet, grassy, and full of bugs place like the marsh. COULD NOT imagine having to live there by myself, I think I would actually go insane or become one with the bug. I thought that the whole mystery was very intriguing, I am SO BAD at mysteries and I try to make myself seem cool by trying to figure out who did it, but I have to be honest with myself: I am wrong. every. single. time.(view spoiler)[am I the only person who thought it was Tate like the ENTIRE TIME?(hide spoiler)] I loved Tate. I thought that he cared for Kya a lot and that they deserved to be with each other, but however, I did think that the romance went a little too fast(view spoiler)[ I am mostly talking about the end and how they she basically suddenly forgave him after months and (I think) years of avoiding him and stuff like that(hide spoiler)] I also hateeeeeee Chase. I am glad he died hahahaahahahhaha *a little harsh? fine fine, but still.* I also have mixed feelings about Jodie. I really liked him at the beginning and then was just like wHAT? and so on. But yeah, CaN'T sPoiL aNytHiNg. Actually, now that I think about it. It is actually VERY hard to write a review about this book without spoiling it....heh. I feel like this whole book is a mystery and a mystery it shall remain. (view spoiler)[I can't really decide how to feel about the end. I thought that the evidence that sided with her not doing it and all that jazz was super cool and it kind of made the other side look very stupid and just saying all those things just to make her guilty....but she actually was. I mean: girl Boss moment I guess? But still, I guess she did become one with the bug.(hide spoiler)] Have a wonderful monday!: ) P.S I also just realized that I rated this book THE EXACT rating that it has on Goodreads. Am I a Boss or what? P.P.S I am excited to watch the movie and HOPEFULLY it is similar to the book. ...more |

I feel like if you write a book like this, it needs to either be sarcastic or funny, and Jackson did a great job at making it at least a little enjoyable to read! Tall and hawk-faced, he had light blond hair and worse a relaxed nobleman's suit, his cloak hanging free. He was, perhaps, in his mid-thirties. He wore no hat nor did he carry a dueling cane. And he looked very, very angry. " Holy smokes. My heart is shattered. Brandon Brandon Brandon. SIR. wHy yOu gOt To dO ThIs To mE? I can't with this book. I was immediately sucked into this book from the first chapter and it had me all the way to page 643. and I was immediately, and I mean IMMEDIATELY attached to and in love with Kelsier. My heavens. I want someone like him in my life. I wish I could be a cool assassin/fighter/tough guy like him. Maybe someday. aearognaergrega. I wish this book was SO MUCH longer! Luckily, there are two more books! Unfortunately, I can't read them right now because I am in the middle of a project. BUT AFTER THIS PROJECT I SHALL BE EATING UP THOSE BOOKS. Time for themes. The two major themes that I got from this book would probably have to be trust and class. Trust was a MAJOR theme throughout the whole book. We always have the words of Vin's brother, Reed, in the back of our minds saying "everyone will betray you. never trust anyone." and that betrayal is a large thing in Vin's life. She struggles to trust anyone, especially Kelsier because everyone she has ever known and loved has either left her or betrayed her. This is SO HEARTBREAKING throughout the book because I can just see it eating her alive. Class struggle is another thing that is very prominent in this book. It is similar toRed Rising in the way that there is one class/person that rules over the others. The Lord Ruler rules over the Skaa who are the common people. The Skaa are always weak and working and get beaten. BUT THEN. BUT THEN. There are Mistings and Mistborns. These people are people who can control one or many of the metals. They happen when they are born with noble blood. Mistings can only control one metal while Mistborns can control all of them, which is very rare. AH ISNT THAT SO COOL! Anyways, the ONLY problem I had with this book was the long descriptions. I felt like I just read the dialogue and still knew everything that was happening. But other than that, this book was a freaking rollercoaster and I just need more. This book did damage to me. Yes, I did cry. Yes, I did swoon. Yes, I did cheer. I also loved the subtle love story that was going on between Elend and Vin, it was sweet and interesting. But mostly I loved the found family trope that we found in this book. I think that found family is my favorite of all tropes. This book reminded me ofSix of Crowsin the fact that they are all family but not and they all go on a heist! This book sort of reminded me of that and I loved seeing the family relationships between the crew, Kelsier, and Vin. ALSO, the mentor/student trope. LOVE THAT ONE TOO! This book just has it all. This part in the book reminded me a little bit ofThe Ruins of Gorlanbecause there was this epic, mysterious mentor that takes the underdog under their wing and trains them to become EVEN MORE EPIC! Ah, love it SO MUCH. Okay, I must take my leave but I think it can be summarized as: this book was wonderful, epic, and amazing. Loved it. have a wonderful tuesday!: ) ...more |

Philip asked with a teasing gleam in his eye." In the wise words of T-Swift: you're the reason for the teardrops on my gutiar This man. Philip is the reason for the teardrops on myimaginaryguitar. I want to be in love so bad, it is unreal. Many of you know already that I am what people call a hopeless romantic and this freaking book just put some fuel on the wildfire. I received this book from my dear friend Jenni for my birthday and I gotta say: it is a shame I didn't pick it up from the moment that it landed in my hands. I couldn't put this book down. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the pages. The story was chill but so intriguing. I was constantly wondering what would happen next in the relationship between Marianne and Philip. Arghhhhh this book put me through an emotional roller coaster...I almost cried at the end and Iliterallygot chill at the end. I love this man so much and I love (most) of the characters. This book was a good-ol-fashioned romance that I needed in my life. This week hasn't been a very good one and this monthHAS MOST DEFINETLYnot been a good reading month for me (so I was slightly depressed about that). Edenbrooke reminded me of stories and how much I love to just sit down and get lost in one. I appreciate that. oooof course there are those occasional cringy moments and there are a lot of exclamation marks but that was just a part of being in a 17 year-olds mind and it added to the story. WE LOVE IT. have a wonderful evening everyone!: ) ...more |

And do you really live with the thought that when you die, you die, and nothing remains?' 'Yes,' I said.” ahhh the ending of this book was so good. and it was really sad. I felt myself feeling SO FREAKING BAD for Meursault by the end and I just wanted to help him. This book was so complicated and deep. In class, we sit there for 50 minutes every day debating what kind of man Meursault is. We would argue on and on because no one could truly understand this book haha. I found myself thinking one way at the beginning of the story but turning my ideas the opposite way by the end. this book wasn't the most interesting but it was at the same time. it caused me to think a lot while reading and I loved loved loved coming up with crazy WILD stories about what this book actually means. I also tried to predict the book and got it completely wrong haha overall, it was a little boring but it kept me interesting and the ending punched me in the gut. I am still trying to recover and figure out what it meant. I'm sure we shall discuss it tomorrow in class. HAVE A WONDERFUL EVENING EVERYONE! 'I'll try to distract them,' he says. 'you run.' 'No,' I say automatically, because I can't stomach the thought of going at this alone, of being stuck in the Veil or facing the Raven without my best friend. 'We're in this together.' Jacob cracks a smile. 'Whew,' he says. 'I'm glad you said that. I'm really not up for noble sacrifices.' " book 14 of schwab-athon done!! ahhh nothing like a good old ghost story. I love this sweet sweet story so much! Everything about Cass and Jacob's relationship is pure gold. Next to their loving friendship rules to their quick witty banter. I LOVE IT ALL One of the reasons why i rated it a little lower was because it felt like the ending came up super fast and the villain (who was creepy) was defeated very quickly. But just imagine this: scary, dead children coming and attacking you. yep. that was this story. SOOO GOOD!!! this book is so light-hearted and I love love love it so much! Peace! Have a wonderful Sunday! ...more |

~4.3~ "We come into the world ready to love whoever shows up, good or bad—that’s what we do." did I just read this 500 page book in two sittings? M ~4.3~ "We come into the world ready to love whoever shows up, good or bad—that’s what we do." did I just read this 500 page book in two sittings? Maybe...maybe not... sidenote: this is actually outrageous. I literally probably took like ten minutes writing a review and then when I went to post it, IT WAS DELETED! literally so annoying. Sooooo I shall try and write *roughly* the same review...but I am in class and my energy level is *significantly* lower heh. ANYWAYS. This book waschef's kiss.I have to agree with Lizzie because I am having an existential crisis right now and forever. This book put me through I real one. I have to say:A List of Cageswas more...I'm not really sure what word to use, but it was just *more*. But, that doesn't mean that this book wasn't soooooo good! I was just sobbing through A List of Cages and I didn't find myself crying in this one, but I was close to crying but not quite to the degree that I was in A List of Cages. But this was heartbreaking. I talked to Lizzie before I read this book and she said that the first part was really kinda meh and so I think that I just had a really low bar SO it was better than I thought it was! Yeah sure, Saye (dumb name by the way) was a horrible person but I couldn't help but feel bad for him because I knew what was going to happen. AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I COULD DO TO HELP HIM! I felt so freaking HELPLESS the whole book. I was literally just sitting there reading his horrible fate. Of course, that's what a book is but STILL. Anyways, the ending of this book was a freaking dagger to the soul. I felt SO BAD for him when he was home from being kidnapped and he is just trying to get back to his real and normal life. I can't. Did I have a freak-ton amount of homework work yesterday that I didn't do because I was reading? Yes, yes I did. And now I have to do all of that homework today....BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. I COULDNT STOP READING THIS BOOK! aeoihgao'erhg'aerog. Why does Robin Roe have this thing about her books. I read A List of Cages in one sitting and this book in two. eijgaeorgae For those of you who loved and cried to A List of Cages as much as I did, I would suggest that you read this book. For those of you who need to feel something because they are too caught up in life and college and work, read this book. Icannotstop thinking about this book. When I was walking to class yesterday, I couldn't stop thinking about it. When I was watching a movie THAT WAS NOT RELATED AT ALL, I couldn't stop thinking about it. When I was just lying in bed trying to fall asleep, I COULDNT STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS BOOK! And now I won't be able to stop thinking about it today because I am now writing this review FOR A SECOND TIME. okay okay, I have to pay attention in class now....soooo PEACE AND FAREWELL ...more |

Gilan looked at him, non-plussed for a moment. 'An axman?' he asked. 'Yes,' said Horace, warming to this theme. 'What if you're facing an enemy with a battleax? Do your knives work then?' Gilan hesitated. 'I wouldn't advise anyone to face a battleax with just two knives,' he said carefully. 'So what should I do?' Will joined in. Gilan glared from one boy to the other. He had the feeling he was being set up. 'Shoot him,' he said shortly. Will shook his head, grinning. 'Can't,' he said. 'My bowstring's broken.' 'Then run and hide,' said Gilan, between gritted teeth. 'But there's a cliff,' Horace pointed out. 'A sheer drop behind him and an angry axman coming at him.' 'What do I do?' prompted Will. Gilan took a deep breath and looked them both in the eye, one after the other. 'Jump off the cliff. It'll be less messy that way.' " ahhh I LOVE GILAN SO MUCH. he isBY FARmy favorite character in this whole series. I sure do hope he is in the other books. I am crossing my fingers. It made me soooo happy when Horace, Will, and Gilan all went on a little adventure together! That made the whole book! I want to be a Ranger so bad. I would love to become like any of them. Halt. Gilan. Will. ERIGA ERIG AERIPGJA ERPGAEG I CANT HANDLE IT. This book was soo fun and high stakes. I felt anxiety for all my lovely characters and hatred for some others. I want to read the next one so so so so so so bad but sadly (BUT STILL EXCITING) I must continue on with my schwab-athon. This was a wonderful break and I am honored to be a part of this world. farewell and have a wonderful Monday night! P.S THANK YOU CLINT FOR THIS BOOK AS WELL! ...more |

For a moment, he almost felt sorry ~5.0~ "Will, slowly regaining his feet, saw the dark anger that burned deep in Halt's eyes at the arrogant words. For a moment, he almost felt sorry got Alda, then he felt the throbbing pain in his back and shoulders, and any thought of sympathy were instantly blotted out...Halt's larger knife, razor-edged and needle-pointed, was just under her chin, pressing lightly into the soft flesh of his throat. 'Don't ever talk to me like that again, boy,' the Ranger said, so softly that Alda had to strain to hear the words. 'And don't ever lay a hand on my apprentice again.' " Ahhhh. THANK YOU CLINT FOR THIS WONDERFUL BOOK! I received this book in the Hutchings Book Club book exchange in December to read in February. My dear uncle gave me this book and it did not disappoint. I had heard lots of praise about this book (mainly Angelina haha) and it was well deserved! I love reading this book so much! These kinds of books are the books I enjoy so so much but don't really think I do. I tend to gravitate towards romance fantasy but please. books likeThe Thiefand I guessEragon(ish) are books that I will welcome on my shelf anytime. I love the story of the shrimpy kid being taken under the wing of this epic and mysterious mentor and becoming literally the coolest character ever. I am also on the shrimp team! GO SHRIMPS (if you know what I mean...) Halt is amazing. I loved him from the moment Will saw him at the choosing ceremony. He was so mysterious and he reminded me of an older Aragorn. Will was soooo sweet!: ) I loved him so much! I am so excited to read the next book and get to read more about Will and Halt and their adventures! I wish that I could become this epic assassin with a bow and arrow and sneak around but alas *dramatic sign* I cannot. So I must pick up the next book and live through Will once more. Good day everyone! ...more |

Yes yes yes, i am a reading MONSTER right now haha. I picked this lovely little book up around two hours ago and i CoUlDn'T PuT iT dOWn. It was just the little pick-up i needed after finishing that whirl of emotionsThe Four Winds. I was a little skeptical about this book when I first opened it because of the writing style but then I was like. Oh wait. This is EXACTLY how I do annotations, reviews, and journals....so I just saw myself HAHA. Wow, it was a joy. Anyways, I had no idea what to expect with this book just that it was supposedly really good. I was pleasantly surprised! Alexie had this odd gift of making some serious topics not very serious and should I be concerned? probably. But this book was a joy to read! I was worried that he would be bullied throughout the entire book at this new school but he was accepted and I love reading it! I think my favorite moments were when he was playing basketball. I love the Coach and Roger. This book covered topics such as breaking away from the life he thought he was destined to live and he is getting a chance to prove people wrong. I thought that Alexie was able to weave these themes super easily into this book and I appreciated having fun but also talking about topics that can go very deeper. okay, I must go, but I think that if anyone just has a little time then they should pick this book up! It is a quick read that is meaningful and fun! HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY! ...more |

I never thought I'd have a second chance with you; I'm not going to screw it up. You're my light. You always have been." ' my little heart is so sad right now. I don't know what to think. I am here in my room sitting in my chair with goosebumps all over my arms. the whole book was so cool and fun and interesting. I grew very angry at some parts, I was happy. There were parts when I said aloud, "scandal!"and there were definitely parts where I cried. I loved that this book was written as a letter to Gabe. It was a letter that was Lucy's entire life and it was so cool to read about it. Their love was so amazing. I love that no matter what, they were always drawn back to each other. It made me so happy yet sad inside. I couldn't put this book down. I was reading through English (sorry Mr. Summers) and I was reading through my study hall block. It was so enjoyable and I am so happy that I was able to read this! Have a wonderful thursday! P.S thanks Mal for letting me borrow this book!:) ...more |

~4.3~ "He drifted off into sleep and Janie looked down on him and felt self-crushing love. So her soul crawled out from its hiding place." this book ~4.3~ "He drifted off into sleep and Janie looked down on him and felt self-crushing love. So her soul crawled out from its hiding place." this book was actually way better than I had expected. The reading tonight for school was only supposed to be until chapter 17, but i was so into it i ended up reading until the last chapter (20) and really enjoyed it. The ending really threw me for a loop. I was told it ended one way (from my friends at school) BUT IT DID NOT END HOW THEY TOLD ME. It was like a punch in my gut. poor Janie. Poor Janie indeed. That poor woman was put through everything and I was constantly in horror and so angry at the things that she had to go through. With Logan, Joe, and even Tea Cake. I didn't have a favorite character. I wanted it SO BAD to be Tea Cake but he just didn't live up to the hype that I built up for him, plus he was SUCH A SKETCHY person and was unlike what I expected. But I thought that this story was very well done. I needed to listen to it because I could not understand it while I was reading it. I just listened to the audiobook on youtube and it was so awesome! the reader was amazing and helped me to understand the reading SO MUCH MORE. I think that if you aren't forced to read this for school, you should consider reading this book, it really makes you think about some things you never would've thought about! have a wonderful evening. and to all those who are in my government class: STOP READING THIS AND WRITE YOUR ESSAY!!! ...more |
