A book with interesting sci-fi ideas that is dragged down heavily by a slow start and having only a tenth of the numerous characters be at all interesting or likeable. Felt like it desperately wants to be a movie treatment rather than a literary work.

Hell on Mars doesn't put its best foot forward.
