The drive saw the tremendous participation of about 400 volunteers from the campus residents, including students, faculty and staff of IIT Bombay. The volunteers cleaned and collected around 3 tonnes of trash along the 2 km-long perimeter of the lake as well as the shoreline that began in the morning, promoting a cleaner, greener and healthier environment. Project Mumbai transported the waste collected to a facility for recycling and government officials were informed of the shortage of dustbins along the promenade, causing plastic litter. The campaign was initiated with the aim that even a small effort by one person can significantly impact their duty towards plastic-free surroundings.
