2024 Anime Ranked

9/10, Autumn. Never liked Jiji, an annoying character but despite his presence I really enjoyed the crazy show, even with the abrupt ending point. Great choice for those who enjoy shows like Mob Psycho and FLCL. Season 2 in summer 2025 looks like!

8/10, Winter, Season 5. What can be said? A great manga continues with a great adaptation.

8/10, Season 3, Summer. I would have given this a 9 if the blonde guy from S2 was less annoying and if Kazehaya didn't make me want to strangle him for half this season. Still a great watch especially for advancement of Chizu x Ryu.

8/10, Winter. I have read the manhwa and this was never a very plot heavy story, it was all about the art and power fantasy. It is a solid adaptation though I can't say the art lives up to the source material. Yet, only bigger things to come.

8/10, Spring. This can be seen as a typical shounen, action taking precedence over story and characters but its all in the execution. Which for me is pretty much that story and characters can be simplistic but they can't annoy me which here they don't. I fully want to experience Kafka striving to fight kaiju alongside his childhood friend. The good animated action is gravy.

8/10 Summer S2, Not as good as S1, flat 8 I think. Last couple eps hit hard but too much of season spent running in place with the play, good but not great. Those last eps do make me very interested in what is coming in S3.

8/10, Summer. Enjoyable Terminator entry though this rating will depend on how season 2 goes.

7/10, Season 2, Winter. Can't quite get to an 8 but I am enjoying this season much more than the first season. This couple makes me smile more than I feel annoyed (always from Ichikawa, Yamada is a cinnamon roll) and when something doesn't click its usually from a supporting character, usually Ichikawas stupid friend. Not my favorite romance still but a lot to enjoy in this season for me.

7/10, Season 3, Spring. Don't like this season as much as S1 and S2 especially the first few episodes, Kazuma and his shamelessness has never been a part of this show I care for. Once it gets past that subplot it improved and got Darkness focused.

7/10, Summer. A serious romance show despite the name, a slow burn that is sometimes too slow but I am interested in where this will go

7/10, Summer. Ep1-2 Koyomi sister, was alright seemed like comedy skit 7/10. Ep3-6 Nadeko, boring. Did not care at all about her duplicates. 5/10. Final Arc, vampire arc best but doesn't reach the greatness of previous seasons. Low 8. I'll average the whole season out to low 7.

7/10, Winter. Feels standard fantasy romance of the type (woman finding herself engaged/married and needing to navigate her man and circumstances) and does a decent job of it. Have to see where the story goes, she isn't passive which is good but I'm not sure her actions are going to help much to prevent the war that killed her in her previous lives.

7.0/10, Winter. Ga-pi! This really leans into the mecha tropes though doesn't quite reach satire I suppose. I can't decide if I liked this or not, was so strange, so stupid. No real story here, no understanding of stakes. Other than Tokyo on fire what happened to the planet? Final final boss says 9billion humans to see die so I guess everyone is still alive after the invasion?

Comedy and sexual innuendos just didn't carry this very far for me but there was some fun here, some. I guess will give this a flat 7 though could also drop to a 5, really don't know how to rate this. Won't ever watch again either way

6/10, Summer. I just feel disappointed. Weird mishmash of sci-fi and slice of life, lots of dark stuff happening in city while at same time teenage drama going on. Doesn't go together well but was going with it to see where all was going but when conclusion comes I was left wondering what the point of it all was.

6/10, Summer. Tbh after the first couple episodes I thought I was going to drop this anime, just felt like random skits sewed together as if that would make up a plot. Ep 3 got me to stick around though, the couple advanced some and a story of their growing relationship was forming, started to get some enjoyment. The skits were fun and sweet. Wish got more of the little sister of Rin but the show was really focused on main couple. Final episode was a bit of a letdown for me though, it felt really rushed to get to the conclusion. While most of the episodes were fun I can't see myself ever rewatching this, don't think is strong enough to stick around in my memory.

6/10, Winter. There isn't much here really. A devil comes up from Hell looking for a human to help give motivation to the demons in the war against Heaven and gets captured by the first girl he meets an angel herself. Romcom begins, usual misunderstandings, blushes and bakas are in here. Some action here and there to get the two leads closer. A little fanservice. Nothing really about the overall conflict that started the show. Nothing really stands out, fluff and harmless though probably forgettable.

6/10, Spring, Hashira Training Arc. Truly a training arc and has lots of the comedy I really don't like in this show. So boring. Incredibly boring. The final episode was good as had meaningful action and story progression. That final episode is what has me rank this arc as I high as I do. Not good enough to save this as a whole though.

6/10, Why is the animation so bad? Hard to care about these characters. Well, Shiho gets some interest from me. That final episode felt arbitrary. Meh. Maybe will pick up manga when it finishes publishing. From what I am getting from others things were cut that reduced the quality of story.

6/10, Spring. This started out strong, as the quartet was introduced their attempt to make JELEE a thing was a fun watch. Somewhere around the halfway point the anime started to drift though and I simply wasn't as invested. I didn't think the relationship between the four was strong enough especially with Kano and Mahiru who were originally setup as having a stronger relationship especially but then drifted into generic friendship with the rest. Supporting characters introduced for a purpose I don't know why. The woman at Drivers Ed? A couple dialogueless scenes with the father of Kano who had no part in the story whatsoever? Her mother and the idol group from her past? Ehh. Not enough music either considering the anime, it was well animated but that isn't enough to carry it. Can't get this to a 7 in the end, left disappointed from its potential.

6/10, Spring. Have had mild interest, Ep 8 really went off the rails with a bad acid trip. Ep10 just as bad. All in with this Alice in Wonderland meets Girls Last Tour I guess. Conclusion was unsatisfactory. Low 6, bordering 5/10.

5/10, Summer. Really not feeling this, mediocre with a baffling ending. Shapeshifting Joker? Huh? Don't think I'd waste time if they make a season 2.

5/10, Not understanding the love of this show, its often boring. Three girls whining and moping to the ML (who sits there like plank of wood) that their crushes chose other people. Yanami comes closest to making me care but as (for now at least) ML has been friendzoned. Show has too much random ecchi scenes with side characters for "comedy". Meh.

5/10, Spring, Season 7. Character introduced at beginning of season pointless and there is eye rolling dialogue justifying the nonsense going on. Hero ideology is so absurd I just can't buy this. Fighting is enough to shut brain off to though I don't care at all about the outcomes. Tried to get me to care a bit more in last few eps though didn't work very well. Whole storyline of this show has collapsed for me I think.

5/10, Autumn. Show felt very generic, similarities with Wind Breaker only adult delinquents instead of juveniles in the yakuza. I did kind of like the main duo so I rank this higher than Wind Breaker. Still felt nothing though, bad people beating each other up and a couple slutty supporting female characters as well. Meh. As I understand it manga is on hiatus and adaptation close to catching up so who knows when/if a S2 will ever come out but I guess I'll watch if it ever does. Probably.

5/10, Spring. Is pretty juvenile, plot feels made for middle schoolers, with middle school concepts. In that there is no plot, just Character A fighting Character B along with random brawls. The fight animation is nice but I'm not invested in the fights. Ep 11 was mildly amusing though. Not that it helps overall, why are there no parents, teachers or police?
