- Was inspired to become an actress after watching the movie, "Out of Africa" and living on the Kenyan farm once owned by Karen Blixen about whom the movie was created.
- Her father is Zimbabwean and her mother is German-American. Tinashe was born in Durham, England and grew up in Zimbabwe and Kenya before moving to the U.S for college.
- Has an older brother and younger sister who are both doctors.
