Geetika Lizardi
- Writer
- Producer
Geetika Lizardi emigrated from India at the age of two. Her immigrant parents didn't always understand American culture so she was raised by TV and YA novels. She majored in English at Stanford and dreamed of being a writer but due to her intense commitment to being a "good Indian daughter," she received an MBA at the University of Michigan instead and was recruited by Microsoft. She surprised her colleagues when she left a successful career and stock options to pursue her passion for screenwriting. Her first feature was optioned and later adapted for musical theater in the UK; her first TV spec landed her a staff writing job on NBC comedy, Outsourced. Geetika wrote on Season 1 of Disney's Mira, Royal Detective. As the only South Asian member of the team from the start of production, she had an integral role in shaping the show.
Most recently, Geetika wrote on Season 3 of Bridgerton for Netflix/Shondaland after also writing and serving as a writer on set for Season 2. Geetika is a two-time winner of the WGA Writers Access Project, the only writer ever to win in both Comedy and Drama.
She is the founder of the Generation Now Writers Group, a group that seeks to promote underrepresented film & TV writers in YA / coming of age stories. Gen Now is made up of writers of color, queer writers, and writers with disabilities.
Geetika is represented by 3 Arts and A3 Artists Agency.
