The glitteryDreamWorksreimagining ofThomas Dam's ugly-cute collectibles kicked off in 2016 with the music-filled animated adventure movie "Trolls."Since then, the movie has spawned two sequels, two holiday specials, two TV shows, a series of short films, and countless toys and tie-ins. The Flintstones could be returning to the small screen!

Fox Entertainment,Warner Bros. Animation,andElizabeth Bankshave joined forces to develop Bedrock, a primetime animated adult comedy series continuing the story of everyone’s favorite modern Stone Age family, the Flintstones.

The pilot script will be penned byLindsay Kerns,with Banks voicing the character of Pebbles Flintstone, in addition to her role as a producer.

The sequel series catches up with the Flintstone family two decades after the original, with Fred on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles embarking on her own career.

As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.

Meet the Flintstones — the new Flintstones, that is — the modern Stone Age family at the center of a new adult animated series voice-starringElizabeth Banksand currently in development at Fox.

Titled “Bedrock,” the comedy is a sequel to the classic “The Flintstones” cartoon and flashes forward to see the characters 20 years after the events of the original Hanna-Barbera series.

Per its official description, “Bedrock” catches up with the Flintstone family two decades after the original, with Fred on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles (voiced by Banks) embarking on her own career. As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.

The “Trolls”movies and TV shows — like “TrollsTopia,”which premiered its second season on Thursday — are among the better kids content for adults to also sit through. With all due respect to Poppy and Smidge, much of the entertainment value comes courtesy of Branch and secondary character (at best) Cloud Guy’s bizarre relationship, with lots of the laughs emanating from the cumulus prankster.

So this reporter and father of two asked (TV) Branch, Skylar Astin, why I like Cloud Guy so much. He seemed qualified enough to answer, and Astin’s thoughtful response did not disappoint.

“I love Cloud Guy, and I love Branch and Cloud Guy together,” Astin toldTheWrap.“It’s my mom’s favorite stuff. She loves the Cloud Guy-Branch episode. I think it’s just like the classic ‘odd couple.'”
