Five Nights at Freddy's(2023)
Expected enough to be disappointed with a FNAF movie like I want more!
I felt the movie only benefited as a mystery drama synopsis not as a blood thirsty horror as the original games were. I understand this was all based on Scott's decision and rightly so but it 110% would've been better as the games if the horror was there. Yeah we only got a few blood scenes and a few jump scares but I really wanted more man lol! I also wish that the animatronics were scary af like I thought it was weird that them, Vanessa, Mike and Abbie huddled on the floor together like im sorry wha????????? XD
Josh hutcherson and Matthew Lilard were good as Mike and William Afton but I felt the storyline was just stiff and un scary. But hey if it's a thing there is a sequel going to be announced in the future, I will try to attempt on checking that out and hope that it would be better than this first one.
The Little Mermaid(2023)
Absolutely rubbish, boring and most of all, Disney is destroying originals
So I gave this a go tonight on Disney Plus because the little mermaid is my favourite movie as a small child and there was just a lot of hype around it when it was first announced. To be honest, I wouldn't even compare it to the original, in fact the original was so much better and still a classic to this day. It had character. It has the art it needed to make it a watchable Disney film that's based under the ocean. There was no charm to it, it provided unnecessary changes like the CGI animals looked off, characters were just meh. I agree that Bailey is a great singer like she'd be better off doing a Disney singalong without acting as Ariel unfortunately.
Disney please stop remaking originals and make something new, you literally might as well be sunken into the ocean as a corporation....
Nimona(2023)
Better than the graphic novel 110%
When I first heard that the movie was getting a adaptation, I was really delighted because I felt the ending was absolutely ridiculous being underdeveloped and totally rushed without a proper send off. I also hated the art as it didn't give me action fantasy vibes. With this adaptation however, it totally blew my mind that the animation did itself justice as well as the development of the characters as what we want them to see.
I'm glad they hired the best actors for the characters. Not gonna lie, I was not expecting Eugene of all people to be a part of this project so it was pretty exciting to see him shine for the first time as a actor (I think?) Riz Ahmed and Chloe Mortez were also excellent in their roles as Nimona and Ballister.
I definitely would recommend this to people who like gay romance, fantasy and a badass female lead <3.
You People(2023)
The most annoying film of 2023, it made me so angry!
When mum turned to watch this godforsaken movie on Netflix, it was honestly so unbearable to watch but yet I sat through it all and felt that I need @5 118 minutes back. The amount of black this, white that, every skin colour being aggressively mentioned on the show made it just so tiring and extremely annoying. I don't care if you're every colour of the rainbow like cmon man this is 21st century, enough with the labels and make a decent movie goddamnitt!
The cast were good but the writing and the aggressive label slapping made it such a bad movie. I think the 5/10 rating is too nice because it's honestly a 0.00000 for me.
Welcome to Chippendales(2022)
I enjoyed it, it's a challenging world behind the man dance
I've heard of chippendales when I watched a YouTube clip of SNL doing a skit about it but I never dug deep into it, let alone know who was the person behind the "magic Mike" alike shows. It definitely shows that once you gain fame from a business you own, you can be asking for trouble and you can even be the one who cause the trouble in the first place. It was always the "Steve vs Nick" fight club every time the guys always interact with each other. It's never a sit down and we'll talk about our ideas bit by bit. Nope it was always the pair of them constantly peed off with each other because their creative differences were basically shooed away.
The actors were really good, story was a little confusing at times with the bickering as well as the large amount of sex scenes but it was pretty interesting. I recommend people who like magic Mike to give this a go!
Disenchanted(2022)
Although it is fun, the sequel wasn't as good as the first
I felt this sequel could have been better in terms of the animation (2D animation mostly when the characters were transported to the "other world" ), the music is forgettable and we don't really have much of a "boss battle even though there's an evil character here trying to take over the world". I did like the fact Disenchanted took place here in Eire (UP US IRISH WAHEEY BOI ) and the fact we have Giselle taking on the "Evil stepmother" role. I just find it nice that Disney at least tried a bit with the storytelling but as usual nowadays with a big corporation like them, it's all about quantity than quality.
Sonic the Hedgehog(2020)
It may be a kids film but I enjoyed it still
As someone who played Sonic Heroes and adored the blue blur since then, it was nice to see that many years later, it is now a motion pic and visually they did a spectacular job of it. Now I will say the story is basic enough since again it's mainly target for kids. I mean if I ever do have my own family or other kids around, I would totally let them watch this. It is fun, cute and has a bit of intense action.
Haideu, Jikil, Na(2015)
Didn't realise Hyun Bin was also in this!
So after being disappointed with "Crash Landing on You", I was looking for the Webtoon version of this series and wasn't able to find the whole thing online. So instead, I used good ol Netflix instead and while watching the rest, I didn't realise Hyun Bin was also on this and he killed it man with his changing personas. Now my only complaint is that the 20 episodes was long winded and wanted to finish it in one go (finished at 6am, stupid I know). However it was an addicting series to binge like both Hyun Bin and Han Ji Min were just very cute together, I think also Han Sang Jin played the wacky mischievous villian pretty darn good, I loved how in the near end he made Bins character draw in front of a serious conference like wtf with that scene man xD
It's pretty good but again the episodes were long winded even if it was a binge to watch!
Semantic Error(2022)
Best BL adaptation kdrama
Man I'm so glad this kdrama was just as great as the manhwa because everything in it was just right! Ok there might be some differences such as Sangwoo wearing less of his hat but it didn't matter like everything was just perfect. I personally don't think it needs a season 2, it had everything you need to enjoy a series, even the sexual tension.
Park Seo Ham, Song Ji Oh, Kim Noh Jin and Park Jae Chan were just stunning in this series! Also Park Seo Ham is off to military enlistment today so best of luck to him like I hope to himself and everyone on other projects in the future! Honestly again I can't express my love for this kdrama, it's outstanding!
The Cuphead Show!(2022)
Sorry but prefer the game than this series
I just think if it was going to be a show straight out of a video game, they should've just replicated the game for those who never even heard of the game before. I was disappointed that the jokes in this were bone dry and every episode was just wishy washy. They should've made the Cuphead lads more smart than dumb. The soundtrack to this was just meh. Overall I'm just disappointed that they don't even bother making Cuphead as what we know of it as.
Stick to the games is all I can advise and keep away if you'll be easily dissatisfied like yours truly.....
Love and Leashes(2022)
I can't believe the Webtoon I read during the start of lockdown became a kdrama!
Honestly guys, this would really put 50 shades of Grey in the corner because let's be real, we all know how crap it was and we need to replace it, this is the better replacement. I really thought the actors were just great, Seo Hyun and Lee Jun Young literally looked like the characters from the Webtoon like their performance were *chef kiss ". I really wanted more of the sexual scenes man but there ya go!
Y'all should check out the Webtoon, this kdrama or both, it's just fabulous 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Jigeum uri hakgyoneun(2022)
Not bad for a zombie horror series!
So I decided to give the live action a go because I saw it's No 4 in Ireland on Netflix right now and I found out that it is based off a Webtoon. Yeah it's not a great art so definitely this was the better version personally! I may not be a fan of zombie themed stuff because they are always obvious and you know wtf was going to happen. I mean, this series isn't any different from every zombie flick out there but at least it puts some twists and turns to make you interested. I honestly was interested with how the character Na-ra was able to look less zombish and able to jump from the roof like a ninja?! Yeah I am assuming that cliffhanger would be left to s2 or just giving us poor audience a tease to make out what really happened in our heads. Even if the ending was pretty much a very questionable one, the characters, the music and the storyline in a way were entertaining enough. Yes it is clique in some parts with, using recycled horror tropes but again, I really enjoyed it and glad I didn't bother with the Webtoon...
Ryû to sobakasu no hime(2021)
Could do it better even if it's pretty
Right so when I first watched the trailer of this movie, I was pretty stoked to see an anime film attempting to resemble a well known fairytale for a change. It just looked so eye catching and pretty much very colourful on my rear view. Also the music from Nakamura Kaho was like a breath of fresh air. I mean I'm so surprised that she never been often more anime roles seriously. Characters were meh but you do get the urge to see what's happening because you are wanting to hear more music. To conclude, I did enjoy the movie overall again with its music as well as animation but the problem is that there were just so many missed gaps in the plot that did frustrate me. These will come into spoiler territory as it will be mostly the ending based-
1. The beast himself- I felt that he wasn't given much of a screen time like we only see him saving Belle, dance with her and him roaring at her to get away from him. We hardly get at least a glimpse of his backstory like the whole thing makes you think it's Belle childhood friend but a kid and his brother getting abused by their father.
2. Belles identity - I really thought the whole idea of Belle was that she was going to reveal herself in the end but instead, she was all of sudden was found out by her classmates and the old ladies from the choir. I mean it seemed like they knew before they went to the old skool eh? Confusing tbh.
Super Crooks(2021)
Pretty poor attempt to the superhero genre
So basically I found out about this Suicide Quad/Justice League copycat type of show through listening to the 3 Trash Taste boys who were praising it a lot so I really wanted to check it out. Honestly I felt the show was just bone dry like I wasn't able to connect with the characters much, especially when it comes to not going deep on what they are as individuals. It's like Bones just made them into supervillains without context like back in the good old days where it's mostly the good guys always winning over the bad guys, even if it's in reverse. So badly rushed if you ask me...
The art wasn't that great like it was blocky at times. I heard it was the same art as Great Pretender but let's be real, Great Pretender is 110% better personally. As well no offense to the singers of the OP or the ED but the songs were forgettable.
I can't knock the voice actors like Kenjirou Tsuda among the others were really great with voices, it's just they needed dialogue to get the story going. Instead it just dragged on that made me want to badly tap the back button to find a better anime to watch.
I normally don't do reviews of anime that have disappointed me since some people could be upset with my opinion but same time, I just feel that it is fair that I share my opinion to you all regardless if you like my opinion or not.
Go ahead though if you want to watch it like some people who enjoy the superhero genre could possibly enjoy this even if I didn't!
The Boy Next Door(2017)
It's ok and was funny at first but then got boring
When it comes to two main characters living together in a very confined place, I'm probably one of those people who prefers the romantic side of things. While it was nice to see two characters being friends and have everyone keep misunderstanding that they are a couple, I just felt it needed more spice to actually see the two boys "romance blossoming" in a very unique way that you hardly see in the boys love genre. Unfortunately it just didn't make it into this story which is a pity.. That's pretty much I can say about it to be honest with you, the actors were good in their roles btw especially their singing but the whole misunderstanding on the drama is overused...
Where Your Eyes Linger(2020)
A surprisingly decent gay drama short!
I was anxious with the censorship that could disrupt the whole story but honestly, this drama was better than expected. We got two great underrated young actors that really interests us on what's gonna happen to them despite their "master-servant relationship". I even liked that we got to see the character Kang Gook's martial arts performance. Literally all the scenes involving him here are fireeeeee!
Some argue that the short was too short but this short is better than some of the kdramas that literally take an hour in every episode. This drama fit the bill at being short but sweet! Also the music was nice enough on the ears!
Definitely worth the shot if you prefer your "innocent BL" and don't have time to binge dramas with long episodes.
Busanhaeng(2016)
Not happy at all with the ending and seriously over the top!
So basically I'm hearing from a YouTuber that this show is getting a remake by Hollywood which will instead include New York (seriously known to be garbage with originality) and I decided to give it a try. It was nice seeing Gong Woo from Squid Game take a different role as a father. I just can't get over though that this movie had a stupidly abrupt ending like can we not see the little girl reunite with her mother? Can we not see at least a vaccine announcement and be able to find her father? Can we not see the pregnant woman name her child after the father? I mean. WHY DIDNT THEY FREAKING ADD ANY OF THOSE TYPES OF SCENES IN WTF MAN?!?!
Can I mention that the zombies in this weren't that scary like I just felt they were rather over the top! The blue eyes really makes them like they were possessed more than infected. If this was a demon or a supernatural type of film, I would've understood it more but yeah I would even call the zombies forgettable. Sorry I'm not part of the "Train to Busan" fan club..
Itaewon Keullasseu(2020)
Pretty decent kdrama even if the unnecessary love triangle is there
So I basically decided to watch the whole kdrama on Netflix since I wasn't able to find the Webtoon anywhere. However I'm glad I did watch the drama since the webtoon pretty much had the blandest art I've ever seen ngl (no offence to the artist btw). The colours and the scenery man are just stunning like seeing the breathtaking views of Seoul day and night just blows you away!
I was really enjoying nearly all the characters. It was even unique that it added in transgender character who really needed more screen time to be honest. Lee Joo Young did such a nice performance as the character! I really wanted to see more of her character and Ryu Kyung Soo's character together! The character I obviously couldn't stand is Jang Geun Soo who always simping over Yiseo and just turns his back on Park Saeroyi a few times. He is like a "damsel in distress" character like for effin sake man, wipe off from the story jeez! Btw the actor who plays him is cute tho, I'll give him that lol! To add, it's also good to see an African man join the group too, I like the fact we have a kdrama representing diversity woop woop!!
I gotta admit the whole thing took the whole day to finish it so the length to finishing it is ridiculous. Fair warning to all who have busy lives! I really enjoyed it though like it is worth the binge! It's emotional, funny, gorgeous, tense, nearly everything you do or don't expect in a romance drama depending how you look at it! Just watch kg guys, it's a decent kshow to check out if you don't want to read the Webtoon!
Aetaneun Romaenseu(2017)
It is somewhat cute but dry enough...
Yes I'm not gonna lie, Sung Hoon is one hell of a handsome fella as the male lead but I just found the story rather bland. The female lead is always trying to run away from him despite the few times they have "you know what" in the car. I wasn't that happy with the ending, I really thought they were gonna get married on the spot of her pornstar mother's wedding. It would've been a nice send off. Overall it's a somewhat nice romantic drama if you like your fast paced romance stuff.
Btw the little boy in this is so adorable <3.
Ildan Ddeugeobge Chungsohara(2018)
Way ahead of its time but near the end was honestly not needed
Well I think we can all definitely agree that our male lead, Jang Sun Gyeol here is ahead of his time because it wasn't long that we got the "I don't want to talk about it virus" two years later so FairPlay to him for showing us the clean measures before we did seriously! Gyeol (the neat freak as we all know ) and Oh Sol (not really bothered by being excessively clean) were adorable together like their relationship was so sweet <3 I also liked the blushes although not gonna lie, it was odd at first because I really thought it was animeish but you get use to it and your heart skips a beat when the pair of them are shy of each other.
I wasn't keen though near the ending where you see Oh Sol cutting off the relationship off without talking about her grief (she lost her mother in a building accident along with others thanks to Sun Gyeols selfish grandad) with Sun Gyeol. I mean I didn't understand why she had to wait 2 years for the pair of them to get back together. I just felt this scene was pointless. What's even more pointless is that this story had an unnecessary love triangle where you see Daniel Choi as the "boy next door but he's the hottest doctor out there really". I mean he was basically just there to taunt the ML with his "doctor techniques" and soothe the FL for her to come to him. At the end of the day, he is just your typical third wheeler that we see too many times in love stories and it's getting old man seriously...
Overall the whole setup is nice but pretty clique with your usual love rivalry shenanigans and a drunk clumsy FL (seriously when are we ever gonna find a sober one?!)The music is cute too especially the OP.
Also check out Aengos "Your Smile is a Trap" on Webtoon, it's pretty cute too <3.
Ojing-eo geim(2021)
It started off strong but ended disoriented
I honestly don't know wtf the main character needed to go into the room where the old man was, dye his hair red and not attempting to board the plane. At the beginning I was having expectations that it would be thrillingly good which it was but the ending just didn't do it for me chief....
Breaking Bad(2008)
Definitely a very thrilling show
I really enjoyed the thrill of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman being up to no good by cooking meth for drug dealers. Not for the fainted heart though!
Jujutsu Kaisen(2020)
Good enough shounen..
Well that was quite a good enough shounen show to go along with the journey of Yuji and friends. Although I will say personally that it's not the best nor the original show I would gloss over but it was pretty watchable. The only characters I found interesting of course on the show was Gojou sensei (yes I admit I simp him), Toudou, Maki, Mei ( I also simp her) and Sukuna because I just find the main characters are just your typical three musketeers that you normally see in other generic stories. I mean to be fair, I found Nobara and Yuuji to be pretty boring and annoying. Megumi on the other hand, I will give a benefit of the doubt that he was alright but like I wanted more out of his stotic personality yknow.
Aside from my pickiness regarding the characters on the show, I friggin liked the music especially "lost in paradise" and "vivid vice" like omg man, I'm gonna be listening to those songs for good, they are just ultimate bangers!! As well the art is just amazing like well done to MAPPA with those great fighting scenes, it's just too bad some of the character development and plot just seems a bit bland. I suppose that goes with saying that the series isn't finished so that makes sense that it just seemed rushed to me!
Anyways again it's a good enough show, I wouldn't call it anime of the year like what Crunchyroll said but if you like the demon genre, check this series out!
News of the World(2020)
A really well done western film with Tom Hanks!
It was so worth it to watch this film starring Tom Hanks and Helena Zengel! Definitely recommend!
Keopi peurinseu 1-hojeom(2007)
Nice enough krom drama
Although I wasn't keen on the pacing and the 2nd couple with their on-off again drama, this kdrama was still watchable enough on Netflix! I was glad that they were able to get a FL who is at least a tomboy and acts likeable for a change! ML was good enough as well. The pair of them are so cute together with their "bromance" like relationship, if only it was about them than the 2nd couple. Otherwise I would have added another few stars on this drama.
Anyways if peeps wanna see a different type of romance than the typical old fashioned ones, it's good to give this a watch on Netflix!
