I only saw this film recently and haven't read any of the books in the series. Maybe if I had read the books I may have been able to appreciate this awful film.
Firstly the acting was b grade and cheesy but tolerable to a certain extent. What really ruined this movie is the plot.
The plot or lack there of does not seem to progress away from love me, don't love me, you cant love me, okay you can love me and meet the fanged family - okay im a 30 y.o. guy and i know this is aimed at a different market but seriously three quarters of the movie is this back and forth love me, don't love me stuff, and then from nowhere there's a different plot involving some random vampires with basically zero character construction up to this point who come onto the scene and change the direction of the movie. It makes for a very disjointed film.
I sat there afterward angry that a movie this bad could make so many people wealthy. It's not the worst movie I have ever seen but would easily be the highest grossing worst film I have unfortunately wasted a couple hours watching.
