Alternate versions

The word "Shit!" used by Barret, Cid and even Cloud in the 1997 Playstation 1 version has been censored in the 1998 PC version with swearing symbols. Also the word "Wench" used by Tifa has also been censored with swearing symbol as well.

Final Fantasy VII on the Playstation Classic Mini Console retains the original Playstation 1 graphics, music, game script, and now has a save state feature for the difficult mini games. Also the discs change requirements are now changed virtually by pressing the open button.

Final Fantasy VII on the Playstation network retains the original Playstation 1 graphics, music, game script. However, the Gremlin enemy had it's AI changed so it wouldn't use the Bad Mouth attack. Also the discs change requirements are now changed virtually by selecting the disc 1, 2, 3 menu.

The Japanese version does not include the Emerald Weapon and Ruby Weapon monsters.

There are actually four different versions of Cloud's date at the Golden Saucer casino. The most commonly seen version has Cloud going with Aeris. There is a second version that has Cloud going out on a wild night with Yuffie. A third version has Cloud going drinking with Barret. The fourth version, which has actually been edited out of some imports, has a date with Tifa almost identical to the date with Aeris, but with a racier ending.

A retranslation of the American game was released in Japan under the title of Final Fantasy VII International which included a Guide on a PSX disk

The North American PC version of Final Fantasy VII contains a cleaner English translation than the original Playstation version's text.
