Anthony Wornum
- Sound Department
Anthony Wornum was born in the UK and lived in Spain as a teenager. There he developed a passion for film making, using the family's 8mm camera and winning a special mention for camera work in a film he and a group of teenage friends submitted to a 1969 Spanish Amateur Film Festival. In 1970 he moved to London UK and was employed by BBC Television in their Film Department, working in various technical areas at Ealing Studios, Television Centre, Lime Grove Studios and other BBC premises. In 1976 he moved onto location work and soon gained popularity as a boom operator, working on many all-film dramas as well as location filmed inserts for studio based productions. In 1983 he graduated to Sound Recordist (Location Sound Mixer) and worked on a variety of genres: light entertainment, drama series, language courses, travel, arts and history documentaries, on both 16mm film and on videotape. In 1995 the BBC embarked on the process of closing down their Ealing Studios based Film Department and Anthony left the BBC to pursue a career as a freelance Sound Mixer for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky and corporates. He retired from location work in 2005 and is now living in Hampshire, UK.
