Dupree Lewis Jr. was born to Dupree and Shirley Lewis Sr. as the oldest
of 3 children. He was raised in the small town of Livingston, Alabama
where he had big dreams of someday becoming a great actor of film and
television. Early on, Dupree showed great aptitude for the Arts. Not
only did he enjoy performing in various skits and short plays, but he
also possessed talent as a sketch artist and as a musician. He also
enjoyed playing sports in high school and had dreams of becoming a
professional athlete. Growing up, Dupree's parents always encouraged
him in whatever he did, but made sure he understood that academics were
a definite priority. After high school, Dupree attended and graduated
from the University of Alabama in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduating, he moved to
Baltimore, MD and began working as an engineer. It was during this time
in Baltimore that Dupree rekindled his love for the Arts and began
acting once again. After almost 2 years there, he moved to Atlanta, GA
where his acting career has flourished.
Dupree has been credited with several lead and supporting roles in film and theater, and has garnered high praise for many of these roles. In addition to several prominent roles in stage plays, Dupree has been very busy in film as well. He can be seen playing a small role in the independent feature film Somebodies (2006),which was an official selection of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Dupree can also be seen playing a supporting role in the feature film Complexion (2008),which was an official selection of the 2008 American Black Film Festival held in Los Angeles, CA and the 2008 African Diaspora Film Festival held in New York, NY. Dupree is working on another independent film project that is sure to showcase his true talent and versatility as an actor. And, with hard work and determination, there are even greater things to come for this actor.
