James Gunn, the new Grand Vizier ofDC Studios(a role he shares withPeter Safran) officially began beating the war drums of his upcoming slate this week. The creator of the “Guardians of the Galaxy”franchise at Marvel laid out the first step in what he said was an eight-to-10-year plan for live-action and animated television shows and feature films, and added that whosoever is cast as these mighty superheroes will play that role across all media—including as voices in video games. (Though he did couch it with a “we hope.” )
Part of his plan is to make theDC Universefeel whole, which, if anyone knows anything about comics, is next to impossible. The publishers of these funny books have been grappling with confusing multiple timelines since 1961, when The Flash (Barry Allen) first met The Flash (Jay Garrick).Garrick’s version came first, by the way,...

Even the most diehard Flash fan has to admit that evil speedsters are a dime a dozen. For everyBarry AllenorWally Westwho enters the Speed Force, there’s a Reverse Flash orBlack Flash, who use their superspeed to do horrendous harm to reality. So it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to learn that in the 9th and final season ofThe Flashon The CW, Barry will be facing off against yet another evil speedster: the Red Death.
Say what you will about the saturation of speedsters in the world of The Flash, the origin of the Red Death in more recentDC comicsdoes set the character apart, as does the actor playing Red Death for The CW version:Javicia Leslie, who most recently portrayed the title character on Batwoman. This makes A Lot of sense.

Marvel Comicsand their Distinguished Competition have a long history of sharing talent, andJames Gunnis the first filmmaker to bridge that gap like artists and writers have for decades.

If I had to review justThe Flashand Nightwing books every month it wouldn’t bother me in the least. Both are great reads, both are consistently entertaining, and both manage both fan service and engaging storylines for new readers. The Flashhas always been a fun book, where a character with pretty much one-dimensional powers on the face of it (he can run really fast) has been transformed into a book where the multi-generational Flash family speedsters have centre stage in theDC Universe. It’s a book where top notch writers queue up to take on, a sharp contrast to the mid-1980s where writerCary Bateswas asked to tread water with Flash storylines long enough so DC could killBarry Allenin Crisis on Infinite Earths.

DearWarner Bros.,
Here we are on the cusp of a new year.Justice League(Jl) is still struggling at the box office, trying to recoup the heavy financial losses, while fans are left wondering what will happen next. WB and DC use to be at the top of the superhero genre with such great classic films likeSuperman(‘78) and Batman (‘89), each of which had a successful sequel...and not so successful proceeding films. If anything can be learned from these past films, chasing possible viewer trends is risky, and putting nipples on the batsuit was a horrible idea. However, as we move forward into a new year all I have to say is, hold on! Even though Jl is not the box office hit you hoped it would be there are plenty of silver linings to be found within the catalog of DC characters and the Dceu as a whole.

It’s been an important couple of weeks for the Waverider crew onLegends of Tomorrow.Firstly, in last week’s “Crisis on Earth-x” crossover, Dr. Martin Stein tragically died when helping his friends fight the Nazis from another universe. The following week, in the show’s midseason finale, his Firestorm partner Jefferson “Jax” Jefferson decided to quit the team, too.
The two halves of Firestorm were founding member of the Legends and so, they leave a big gap to be filled. In an intriguing revelation, though, the show’s exec producer has explained that a hero already familiar to Arrowverse viewers will take their place on the time machine.Marc Guggenheimtold ComicBook that “a previously established character from the Arrowverse” would be joiningLegends of Tomorrownext year.

You know how for most of the first batch of episodes this season I was asking for a little balance? Therefore I Am is what I meant. Now, with the complete understanding that this is, perhaps, an overcorrection from the overcorrection in terms of the sheer lack of humour in this episode, I still feel like Therefore I Am was more like what I've come to expect from this show in general, and in its better moments, like this show at its best.
