This show was based on the life story of Samantha Daniels, a real-life professional matchmaker who owns the company Samantha's Table. She also started out as a divorce attorney like Kate Fox, the main character in the show.

Dina Meyer and Alicia Silverstone portrayed a version of the DC Comics character Batgirl. Silverstone in Batman & Robin (1997) and Meyer on Birds of Prey (2002). Additionally, Lake Bell would go on to voice Posion Ivy on Harley Quinn (2019).
