Play by Play shows true emotion for such a 'short' film. A great story about a young boy named Donn (Charlie Bright) who has an aspiration to become a professional baseball player. Not just any baseball player. The best player in all of the major leagues, representing the San Francisco Giants. Donn records himself pretending to hit game winning home runs in clutch situations for the team. He also keeps a photo album with his statistics on his season. One day, when a school classmate/bully named Steve (Jeremy Leary) finds out about Donn's secret life, Steve snatches Donn's photo album. Donn is unsure what his other peers would think of him. Donn would literally do anything to not only get his possession back from Steve, but to make sure his 'secret world' still remains a secret. This film has excellent cinematography. The directing was well done, and props are given to the casting director. Other characters include Randy the Bully (Mattias Christensen) and the Teacher (Pamela Gaye Walker). Jeremy Leary was a realistic elementary school bully. A remarkable performance by Charlie Bright - a very young actor with great camera presence. His first live action film will be one of many to come. Needless to say, Play by Play is a tale that well depicts just about every young boy's childhood. depicts just about every young boy's childhood.
