The game takes place in the year 2137; 15 years after the original Alien film.
The main character is Amanda Ripley. Ellen Ripley's daughter.
For Alien fans that may not have seen the Special Edition of James Cameron's Aliens, the confusion is understandable. In the Special Edition, which is widely regarded as the proper version of the film, and James Cameron's preferred version. There's an additional scene where Ellen Ripley, having been rescued 57 years after being adrift in space, inquires about her daughter, Amanda. It was revealed that Amanda Ripley died at the age of 66. Ripley states that she was supposed to be home for Amanda's 11th birthday.
