We'll be sorry to see you go. Closing your account will delete any recommendations or endorsements you've given or received, plus your messages and connections.

Close account

Closing your account means permanently deleting your profile and removing access to all your LinkedIn information from our site. If you have a Premium account, you cancancel the Premium access,but still keep your free Basic account to retain your profile, connections, and other information.

Important to know

If you have an Enterprise account and cancel it, you will lose access to your Online Jobs and those you have posted in Recruiter. However, the Recruiter data remains the same and you can reassign your Recruiter license to another user. (SeeRelated tasksection below.)

To close your LinkedIn account from theSettings & Privacypage:
  1. Click theMeicon at top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. SelectSettings & Privacyfrom the dropdown.
  3. UnderAccount managementsection of theAccount preferencessection, clickChangenext toClose account
  4. Check the reason for closing your account and clickNext.
  5. Enter your account password and clickClose account.
You can also close your account directly from theClose Accountpage. Before you do, please note:
  • You won't have access to your connections or any information you've added to your account.
  • Your profile will no longer be visible on LinkedIn.
  • Search engines like Yahoo!, Bing, and Google may still display your information temporarily due to the way they collect and update their search data. Learn more abouthow your profile shows up in search engine results.
  • You'll lose all recommendations and endorsements you've collected on your LinkedIn profile.
  • You may want todownload a copy of your databefore you close your account with us.
  • If you have a premium membership, own a LinkedIn group, or have a premium account license, you'll have to resolve those accounts before being able to close your Basic account.
  • If you've created more than one account, learn how todelete or merge a duplicate account.
  • Your purchase history will no longer be accessible.

You canreopen your accountin most cases if it's been closed less than 14 days, but we're unable to recover the following even if you reopen your account:
  • Endorsements and recommendations
  • Ignored or pending invitations
  • Followings (Top Voices, Companies, etc.)
  • Group memberships

Do you want to keep your account but receive fewer emails and notifications?

You can set the frequency of email communications and notifications from theNotificationssection of yourSettings & Privacypage to reduce emails, notifications, group digest emails, and LinkedIn announcements. On the mobile app, theSettingspage is located at the top right corner of your profile page.

Did you sign up using 3rd party credentials (such as Google, Apple, Facebook, or Microsoft)?

If you signed up for LinkedIn using login credentials from a third party email provider (such as Gmail, Facebook, or Apple), please be sure to unlink that email account from LinkedIn via the third party’s site. To learn how, visit their help centers such as theGoogle Help CenterorApple Support.

  1. Tap your profile picture >Settings>Account preferences.
  2. TapClose accountunderAccount management.
  3. TapContinueto proceed with closing your account.
  4. Tap the reason for closing your account and tapNext.
  5. Enter your account password and tapDone.
