We are excited to announce that the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (DAAC) has been honored with the Not for Profit Leadership award at the PICCASO Awards Canada gala night, held on June 11 in Toronto. Read the executive summary below to learn more about their remarkable achievement! The DAAC operates the Canadian self-regulatory program for online interest-based advertising, called AdChoices. This industry-led effort gives consumers more information and choices about the advertising they receive online. The self-regulatory program requires companies to clearly inform consumers about their data collection and use practices and allows consumers to exercise greater control over the types of ads they see. Over the last year, the DAAC, in partnership with their sister organization the DAA in the United States, has continuously evolved the program to allow for support in the post-third-party cookie world through a series of tool upgrades and program clarifications. It's now expected that program participants not only use the icon on ads and on their sites/apps and adhere to the advice given to them by the DAAC's accountability partner Ad Standards, but now, new tools exist to extend consumer choices beyond the cookie. The first tool is the Token ID-Based Choices tool, which allows consumers to opt out of the use of their hashed email address or phone number to be used as a token for interest-based advertising. Additionally, an upgraded browser extension preserves consumer choices after third-party cookies disappear. This work recommits the DAAC to its important mandate. *As submitted by the nominator #PICCASOAwardsCanada24 #DataPrivacy #informationsecurity #complaince #Notforprofit #Leadership

Our 2024 research report, DEI in the Canadian Marketing Sector: Polarization, Ageism and Mounting Frustration, now in its fourth year, is one of several initiatives that the Canadian Marketing Association is taking to fulfill its 2020 pledge to combat racism, discrimination and systemic barriers to inclusion in the marketing profession. Key findings in this year’s report include: 1. Marketers are experiencing polarization in the workplace, which has a negative outcome on employee engagement. 2. Ageism and intersectionality are affecting marketers’ careers, leading to more discrimination, microaggressions in the workplace, and a higher potential to experience barriers and job loss. However, a well-diversified leadership team can mitigate the impact. 3. Ignoring issues lowers employee engagement. 4. Steps can be taken to improve the polarization issue and build diversity. The good news is that many marketing leaders are already making an effort—but there is room for growth, particularly in hiring practices and leadership efforts. Get more insights from our DEI report here: https://lnkd.in/gcuByUik Surveys were distributed through the CMA and its partners: Strategy Online, Ad Standards, APTN, Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA), Association of Creative Communication Agencies, Black Talent Initiative, COPHAN - Confédération des organismes de personnes handicapées du Québec, Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (DAAC), Digital Marketing Sector Council, Grenier, IAB of Canada, Marketing News Canada, POCAM - People of Colour in Advertising & Marketing, and SMCC- Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada. #MarketingInsights #DEI #ThoughtLeadership #DEICommittee

Drumroll.... Woohoo! We're thrilled to be winners of the Not-For-Profit Leadership Award at the inaugural PICCASO Canada Awards! Heartfelt congratulations to our fellow nominees, who are all doing excellent work in the realm of privacy. We were amongst good company and are inspired by your dedication.
