About us
Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one. Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world. Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind. You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.

Heartened to share that Amazon India has received the "Diversity Equity Inclusion Workspace" award from Virendra Kumar,Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GOI,as part of Samarth Hero Awards 2024, an initiative byNDTVin partnership with Hyundai. We are humbled to have been nominated by theNational Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People(NCPEDP) for this prestigious recognition. Our journey began with a small but impactful step of deploying deaf and hard of hearing associates at our delivery stations. Today, we take pride in having over 2300+ associates with diverse abilities, including intellectual, locomotor, visual disabilities and acid attack survivors across our Operations Network. While this progress fills us with gratitude, we also recognize that this is just the beginning. As we say at Amazon, it’s still 'Day 1', and we continue building a more diverse, inclusive and equitable workspace. #SamarthHeroAwards2024#NDTV#AmazonIndia#AmazonIndiaOperations#DiversityEquityInclusion#SamarthByHyundai Abhinav SinghILiju ThomasIDr Karuna Shankar Pande ( He /His/ Him )| Arun Kumar Singh IS.Akshaya Lakshmi|Saloni Gupta|Pranav PandeI Roopa Ramakrishna I Abhijit Naik IAnish ChennamrajI Candi Castleberry IAngel Enriquez|Tenisha Jackson - SPHR, CDRIAravind Kumar MalladaISteve Walter|Deepinder Singh| Ashish Verma |Madhu Bala SharmaISmilie NagawkarIAnandh Babu| Priyankar Pandit

Great to be in NYC today for Climate Week and to celebrate The Climate Pledge's five-year anniversary with many of our 525 signatories. In 2019, we co-founded the Pledge and committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Achieving this type of goal is significant for any company; but when you think about Amazon, given the diverse set of businesses and sectors we operate in (including many with very industrialized operations), it’s even more complex. But, we’re committed to being net carbon zero by 2040. Our journey began with small wins that have led to bigger progress—last year, we matched 100% of the electricity we consumed across Amazon’s global operations with renewable energy, we now have 24K electric delivery vehicles on the road globally, we’ve eliminated 95% of the air plastic pillows in North America packaging (getting to 100% by end of year) and already eliminated 100% in Europe, and cut 446K metric tons of packaging in 2023 alone. We’re making meaningful progress, but know there is still lots of work ahead to build the future we all want for ourselves, our kids, our communities, and our customers. We’re committed to continuing to lead, partner, and innovate on this important issue.
