Aldihas announced plans to refurbish over 30 stores across the UK this summer.
The changes will vary depending on each store, but includes building more space for shoppers, updating floor layouts and introducing more sustainable features. Aldi said it will install energy efficienttechnologysuch as doors on fridges to reduce energy use and natural refrigerants to reduce carbon emissions.
Other improvements include new signs in stores. Thesupermarketis set to invest more than £90million on store improvements throughout 2024. In total, more than 100 stores will get an upgrade, with a list of 30 stores confirmed below. Most work will take place in June, July and August.
Aldi now has more than 1,000 stores across the UK and has a long-term target of 1,500 stores. Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “Aldi attracted more new customers than any other grocery retailer in the last 12 months, and we want to continue to offer the best possible in-store experience for our shoppers.
“We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience is on a par with the high-quality products and service we offer. Finding ways to reduce any environmental impact as we continue to grow our store estate across the country is also a vital part of these changes.”
