To add insult to injury, they could only watch as Turkish defender Ridvan Yilmaz was stretchered off the pitch in worrying scenes at Hampden.

Philippe Clement today confirmed that the defender will be missing in action for the next six weeks.

It's perhaps a relief to some Rangers supporters, as it was feared he could have been missing for months.

Adding to their off the field issues, Clement also confirmed that two more of his first team squad could be out of action for Saturday's cup tie with St Johnstone.

Leon Balogun missed out in the loss to Dynamo Kyiv, and there are still doubts over his availability.

Clement has also confirmed that Scott Wright will miss out entirely.

Wright was an unused substitute in the loss to Dynamo, missing out to Jefte - who was sent off in controversial fashion after referee Marco Guida deemed him to have elbowed Oleksandr Karavaiev.

Clement said: "Ridvan will be out four-to-six weeks roughly.

"Wright has a small problem and will miss out this weekend, Balogun is also a doubt."

One of the players that could step into Yilmaz's role is academy graduate Robbie Fraser.

Fraser has made two first-team appearances under Clement.

He made his debut in Rangers' 5-2 post-split victory over Dundee.

He also appeared in Gers' 3-3 draw against Hearts on the final day of last season.

Clement said: "Robbie has had a really good evolution in the last couple of months.

"He has done really positive things throughout pre-season.

"Part of our story is to give chances to boys coming out of the Academy."

Clement has already given graduate Ross McCausland a run in the first team, and now another of Malky Thomson's B-team youngsters could get a shot with the first-team.
