Philippe Clement was keen on a return to Ibrox for the Senegal international and he too posted complimentary messages after his stay was cut short.

But Gers haven't managed to strike a permanent deal and Sima has headed back to France instead.

The wide frontman spent a season on loan at Angers before lighting up Ibrox and is heading back across the channel from Brighton again.

We told how he was lined up for a move back to Ligue 1 and the 24-year-old has now signed his deal at Angers.

Seagulls technical director, former Rangers captain David Weir said: “Abdallah had a successful period with Rangers last season and this loan will give him the opportunity to get regular minutes in a good league at a club who finished third in France last season and will be playing in the Champions League this season.

“We wish him well and Pathway Development Manager Gordon Greer and his team will monitor his progress.”

Gers fans have rued their miss after Sima became a fan favourite - netting 16 times in 39 appearances.

Several responded to the deal confirmation with crying face emojis.

One said: "Catching feelings for loan players is worse than getting feelings for a bird."

Another replied: "Feels sad man."

A third was more hopeful and added: "Ohh well I’ll just have wait till next season to see you again in a Rangers jersey."

One player who may not be around in a Gers top next season is Ianis Hagi.

The Romanian has been playing for the Rangers B team in friendly matches after being frozen out by Philippe Clement and seems unlikely to add to his 99 appearances.

Rapid Bucharest have now shown their hand and CONFIRMED they are chasing the playmaker's signature - along with every other club in the country.

Hagi is a HUGE name in his homeland and not just through his legendary dad Gheorghe.

The second generation star has appeared in adverts for Pepsi and Lays crisps amongst others, and even had his WEDDING broadcast live on TV.

Technical director Viorel Moldovan said: "Ianis Hagi is a player of great value, I think every club wants him. There are certain discussions, I hope he is interested in coming to Rapid, that's the most important thing.
