Production crews shut down the Linsmore pub on Glasgow's Dumbarton Road.

It is thought that they were filming a night time scene as the team covered the boozer in a sheet of black tarpaulin.

Produced by ITV studios for BBC, the hit TV series has been running for over a decade now.

The show's actors were clocked on the city centre set and actress Alison O'Donnell, who plays Alison 'Tosh' McIntosh in Shetland, was one of the stars spotted.

Ashley Jensen, who plays Detective Inspector Ruth Calder, is also expected to appear at the Glasgow bar tomorrow.

Jensen, who is also known for her roles in Ugly Betty and Netflix's After Life, took over the lead role in the programme from Douglas Henshall after his character's story line came to "a satisfactory end".

A number of different locations in Glasgow will be used for filming in the coming weeks.

Glasgow City Council previously confirmed that Paisley Road West, between Admiral Street and Stanley Street, in Glasgow's Southside will be closed from 3pm on July 28 until 11pm on July 29.

Drygate and Cathedral Square in the East End will also be closed on July 25 from 8am until 11.59pm.

Earlier this year, a convenience store in Clydebank was also taken over to film for the new season of Shetland.
